Tbh I kinda find it annoying when ppl say this. It's mostly because someone could've grew up like him but still would've end up different and sometimes you don't need a bad past for you to become a bad person. What I'm trying to say is that his past is kinda irrelevant it's the choices he makes. Tho that's just my opinion lol.

Yes, it was, he suffered. Is it a excuse for all he did? No, he still has to be punished for his wrongs. Certain stuff is justified by revenge, for example him causing the death of those who made him suffer (although this depends a lot on people’s perspectives). Other’s like killing innocents, what he did to Xin and AQuing, etc, are just he being a terribly awful person; no reason there.
