Living in Toronto, but west of the core, I love having a 353 sq ft corner terrace. It's a great view and I do go out several times a week. Not for smoking!
Terraces offer a significant upgrade over traditional balconies. They are a coveted feature for buyers. Thanks for the comment.
I love my condo balcony. Includes a gas hookup and view of the lake!
It was smart to get a unit with a gas balcony. @@MarieDuplessisYT
And floor to ceiling windows aren’t an energy leak? Architecturally, yes they are. Glazing has improved, but builders are on a budget…..
No, I hate living in my condo without a balcony. I want my BBQ and outside coffee time back. Builders should recess the doors to balconies and have them enclosed on 3 sides - the way they do in retrofitting commercial buildings to residential for your 30th floor/winter problem.
And I wouldn’t live on the 30th floor of my building either. 1 elevator out for a move in/out, 1 down for maintenance- that leaves 1 elevator for 35 floors. I’ll just run down from my 6th floor condo and not waste 15 -30 min waiting for an elevator.
You bring up a great point about energy efficiency and the architectural challenges that come with it. It's a tricky balance, isn't it? While those floor-to-ceiling windows offer incredible views and natural light, they do present some challenges in terms of energy conservation. And with builders working within budget constraints, it's even more of a juggling act. And waiting around for elevators, especially during move-ins or maintenance days, can be a real hassle. Running down from the 6th floor sounds like a much better plan!
No balcony..no BBQ..NO sale.
