Yes bigger battery for the Mate 20 Pro and smaller form factor but does not have a headphone jack and the s-pen that is why the Note 9 comes. If you want bigger battery go for the Mate 20 Pro, if you want a headphone jack and s-pen go with the Note. The Note 9 is cheaper $100 in Australia than the Mate 20 Pro.
Just saying, the mate 20 pro doesn't require you to wake the phone before scanning your fingerprint. When you hold up the phone or touch it, the phone will give a short glimpse of the fingerprint scanner area where you can scan. If you are familiar with the placement already then you can just scan your fingerprint without even lifting it or turning it on
@@MatthewMoniz when you put your device on the table you still need lift the phone to reach the finger print scanner on the back, but with under display you just need touch or move it little bit and then put your finger on the scanner. How has been your experience with your mate? Do you notice choppy animations or stutters in the UI? Can you please specify what aspects of the camera do you like?
skyline well, slow or not, if your friend needs a bit juice, you give it to them (except if you're empty as well, but that shouldn't be too probable with such a big battery). I mean, you can leave your phone for 15 minutes so a friend can boot theirs up to be able to receive calls... Right?
@@FilipGereg i dont think he's referring to that scenario - just in general - im pretty sure he seems like the guy that would have no problem with it depending on the scenario but generally speaking I see his point.
You don't have to wake up the display. Touch it and the fingerprint outline appears. This is better for when the phone is flat and you must unlock it. So better than rear facing. It is accurate and better than the 6t. I've seen people having troubles with other in display scanners.
We will not charge jerks phone, but when your girl's phone out of battery, during the charging time, both of you will not use the phone, create much communication time for people instead of using the phone as the third hand. And this is feature created by Huawei, its a really cool function to show off in the party.
If u want to receive notifications on Huawei en Honor phones, u have to do the following things: Step 1: Go to settings --> advanced settings --> battery manager --> protected apps, then find the app you want to see notifications from, and protect it. This is "whitelisting" the app so Huawei's overeager software doesn't shut it down for no reason. Step 2: Go to settings --> apps --> advanced --> ignore battery optimizations, then find the app and ignore it. Don't be tricked by the misleading wording, "ignoring" the app actually means to let it run, because you're telling the battery optimization function, aka Doze, to "ignore" that app. Step 3: Go to settings --> battery --> launch --> find the apps u want to receive notifications from and set them to manual instead of automatic --> u should see 3 switches (when u set an app to manual) which all need to be set to active. Step 4: Go to settings --> notification panel & status bar --> notification center, then find the app, then activate "allow notifications" and also "priority display". You have to activate the priority part too to make sure you get notifications. I've tried just activating allow notifications but not priority and I still didn't get notifications from that app. Optional Step: Settings -> Apps -> special access -> unlimited data access -> choose the apps u want to receive notifications from. This step may not be necessary so u can test it with and without this step. My experience is that this wil make the phone receive notifications unless the notifications come in when the phone is turned off completely. Ur mileage may vary though.

@Matthew Moniz Great review. There are a couple of things to point out 1. According to other people's test OP6T's fingerprint scan is slower than mate 20 pro. But I personally think with the best implementation of 3D facial recognition, the fingerprint scanner becomes secondary on mate 20 pro. As a matter of fact, there is another variant of mate 20 pro sold in China, which is only equipped with 3D facial recognition but not the fingerprint sensor. It costs quite a bit less than the fully equipped one. 2. The wireless reverse charging is actually for the upcoming Huawei wireless earpods and wireless gadgets like watches.
Based on my tests the OP6T is definitely faster to login with. As for reverse wireless charging, i heard the rumours and leaks too! If that's the case then it will be worth having on the phone! Thanks for watching Eric!

Had the phone over a week. Finger print sensor is pretty quick, it's all about how you enroll the finger print. The placement is spot on. Any lower and you might as well put in a physical sensor.
You don't have to wake up the device to unlock it. Just press on the fingerprint button when the device is locked and it will unlock directly. The fingerprint sensor does illuminate when it detects some movement close to the screen. And you can also enable raise to wake up feature, so the phone will unlock automatically once you hold it up by either using the face ID feature or when you press on the fingerprint sensor. And make sure to install the latest update, it will vastly improve the performance of face ID and the in screen fp sensor Keep up the good work.
Hi there Matthew Moniz, I understand completely how you feel about the reverse wireless charging feature... Its pretty cool but I think it was originally made for people who have smartwatches that charge via wireless charging such as the Huawei smartwatch that's comes with the Mate 20 Pro when pre-ordered back in October
You know what's even more amazing? The Mate 20 X which gives you a headphone jack, dual Dolby Atmos speakers, a 5,000mAH battery, a teeny teardrop notch while eschewing only the higher IPX rating of the Mate 20.
As for your ring bell notification issue. Disable the power management for that specific app. Huawei power management app tends to be aggressive sometimes and it kills background activities of other apps to maintain a good battery life.
Are you reviewing or criticizing?? And why the half comparison with apple?? You should do full comparison and you will see it murdered apple in every bit.
Been waiting for a Matt-style review. I highly agree with you. The finger print button is still faster and reliable than optics. The reverse charging is overhyped. I want to use my phone but I can’t do that without changing someone’s phone, right? Kudos to you man!! Thank you for pointing those out!!
Thank you soon much that such a big RUclipsr replied me....... I had been watching you since 2015 and also viewed the review of nexus Android lollipop 😂
@Matthew Moniz you don't have to wake the display to unlock it. Merely placing your finger on the scanner location, with a little pressure unlocks the device
But loving the review...If the phone is that good...will look forward to the next gen of Huawei...and you prefer the kirin chip to the Qualcomm? What is the difference in performance and accuracy?
Hey Matt - you don't have to wake up the display. It's an AMOLED and upon movement it produces an outline of the fingerprint to allow you to authenticate without unlocking the device, in terms of use.
I want to finally upgrade from my s5 which device would you recommend? I'm thinking Huawei mate 20 pro or s9 but open to other suggestions. Thanks and great video :)
The delayed notifications from the Ring Doorbell are to do with Ring, *not* the phone. The same happens in the UK with the Ring Doorbell. They need to fix it.
Actually I disabled my fingerprint sensor on my Mate 10 Pro because after adding a hard-case it was so hit and miss that I just junked it. Tried several different covers but all suffer the same problem. So this solution is way superior when taking that into consideration.
Few points. 1. Huawei P20 and P20 Pro can also hide the notch, so nothing surprising there 2. I noticed that my P20 is somewhat a little bit slower than devices in that price range. The Kirin 970 seems to fall behind imho. Normally the phone is reasonably fast but sometimes it does stutter (it can also be software). But the Kirin 980 is indeed much faster than the 970. 3. Like other people mentioned - this is the fastest charging phone in the world, period! It goes to 70% around 30-35 mins and to 100% in little over 1 hour and 10 mins. This is a big deal. Also, some people get over 7 hours on screen time, which is insane.
I had the Mate 10 Pro (which also had a very strong battery) and now the OP6. I think i prefer the smaller battery on the OP6 (which still lasts a day for me) with Dash charge over a bigger battery. Also, OxygenOS is amazing!
How do you deal with the constant ads popping up when you use the internet on that phone? I love the IOS system, I don't have a million ads popping up when I use safari and its simple and straight to the point to use. Obviously, Huawei has the more advanced hardware but I still prefer the smoothness and quality feel of the iPhone although Apple has decreased innovation since Steve Jobs passing and feels like they're just capitalizing on the brand itself.
It feels great in your hand, it looks super duper, an amazing camera and very generous battery life. I'm happy. But my happiness will be tested again when the release of Huawei Mate 20 X. Holy Moly Guacamole.
Another well rounded review 👍🏼. However, I don't know what you are talking about when you say that Kirin CPUs have been better than the Snapdragon ones? I can't say for the 980 but every chip before 980 from hisilicon have had issues with gaming in particular, also the phone would start stuttering in day to day use in a few days and with camera in terms of video recording specially in low light. Their GPUs have been the most inferior ones used when compared to both Exynos and Snapdragons. In fact in another benchmark video I saw the GPU on the 980 struggled, I'll try to link it if I can find it again. Having said all that I have found mate series to be much better than the p series till date and this one sure looks to be great 👌🏼.
Should mention that even when you do need to charge it comes with a 40w Supercharger IN THE BOX so you can top up fast and easy. Battery honestly is stunning on this.
Damn... Just when I thought I was done with Android, Huawei goes ahead and pulls off this sorcery. I also love how optimized the software is in terms of speed and battery efficiency.

In display fingerprint scanner can work without waking up the screen
Hi there Matthew Moniz, I understand completely how you feel about the reverse wireless charging feature...
Its pretty cool but I think it was originally made for people who have smartwatches that charge via wireless charging such as the Huawei smartwatch that's comes with the Mate 20 Pro when pre-ordered back in October
the reverse wireless charging is for accessories
which accessories have qi charging? lol
@@Sithkid89 wireless headphones lol even though it's expensive but we going 2019
AWESOME VIDEO MATT!!, great device it's amazing where huawei begun and where they are now, big ups to them
THANKS MICHAEL! I know right. We used to like not care about huawei phones now they're some of the best phones you can buy
Even faster for me is just pick the phone up and boom instant face unlock. Fast even in low light.
I am wondering why you only have 290k subscribers.. you deserved 2M at least
Huawei Mate 20Pro😍👍
Where did you buy it brother?
You know what's even more amazing? The Mate 20 X which gives you a headphone jack, dual Dolby Atmos speakers, a 5,000mAH battery, a teeny teardrop notch while eschewing only the higher IPX rating of the Mate 20.
@5:42 Trolled Galaxy Note series like a pro 😂😂😂. Skip 5:42-5:50 if u'r a samsung fan 😂
As for your ring bell notification issue. Disable the power management for that specific app. Huawei power management app tends to be aggressive sometimes and it kills background activities of other apps to maintain a good battery life.
DO NOT HAVE TO WAKE UP THE SCREEN.... JUST USE THE FINGER PRINT SCANNER DIRECTLY... DUH....
Sounds like a solid phone. Thanks for the review. Don't normally like big phones but been hearing good things about the comfort of the Mate 20 pro.
You're welcome! Ya I don't like my phones too big but I could rock this one
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro Killer iPhones 😂📸🔋💪
Not in the U.S.....where it's banned.
6:30 Looks like an edit. Did you drop it the first try haha. Great review, you're one of the top on RUclips
haha no i didn't drop it I cut becxause i was blabbing on and wanted to reduce the outro
@@MatthewMoniz Ah. I would've definitely dropped it
On the huawei mate 20 pro i don't have to wake up the display first to unlock with fingerprint.
I agree with you about the interface. With the Nova launcher, I barely notice EMUI.
I had a heart attack when you flipped the phone 😧
Very Honest review Bud! Good work.Waiting for P30 pro....
Thanks man!
Are you reviewing or criticizing?? And why the half comparison with apple?? You should do full comparison and you will see it murdered apple in every bit.
Gracious Victorious
A review has the pros and cons of the phone
Great review Matthew I got mine on Monday it's a fantastic phone
Thanks James!
👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
Using it since 2 weeks. Most amazing phone i ever owned.
Good morning, shout out to ufc 230 this weekend at MSG!
Been waiting for a Matt-style review. I highly agree with you. The finger print button is still faster and reliable than optics. The reverse charging is overhyped. I want to use my phone but I can’t do that without changing someone’s phone, right? Kudos to you man!! Thank you for pointing those out!!
My pleasure man!
One plus fingerprint is slow
Nice review. This device is a door to the future.
Nice...
I am a daily viewer if your vedios from Pakistan...
Thanks Umar! = ) Glad to have you here!
Thank you soon much that such a big RUclipsr replied me.......
I had been watching you since 2015 and also viewed the review of nexus Android lollipop 😂
Amazing review as always
Thanks Usman
Hello
Well hello
Great review. As always
tfw verizon :(
@Matthew Moniz you don't have to wake the display to unlock it. Merely placing your finger on the scanner location, with a little pressure unlocks the device
I am using the mate 20 pro now. And the things you said about the phone is so true. The battery life is so much better than my previous iPhone 8.
Nice!! Ya the battery life is just stupid good
But loving the review...If the phone is that good...will look forward to the next gen of Huawei...and you prefer the kirin chip to the Qualcomm? What is the difference in performance and accuracy?
Hey Matt - you don't have to wake up the display. It's an AMOLED and upon movement it produces an outline of the fingerprint to allow you to authenticate without unlocking the device, in terms of use.
I want to finally upgrade from my s5 which device would you recommend? I'm thinking Huawei mate 20 pro or s9 but open to other suggestions. Thanks and great video :)
Finally got the best review video about my next phone from the best RUclipsr #loved♥️ 🙏
Thanks Man!
Great video 💪 need a new phone should i buy mate 20 pro or p30 pro?
I love Huawei mate 20 pro it's going to be my next device thou I was contemplating between it and P30 pro which to buy
I saw what you did there at 2:05 ! 🧐
I like blue too.
What do I win? 🤪 great video (as always) Sir!
Take care, Bill in Utah
The delayed notifications from the Ring Doorbell are to do with Ring, *not* the phone. The same happens in the UK with the Ring Doorbell. They need to fix it.
Actually I disabled my fingerprint sensor on my Mate 10 Pro because after adding a hard-case it was so hit and miss that I just junked it. Tried several different covers but all suffer the same problem. So this solution is way superior when taking that into consideration.
Your review was Legend........ wait for it
Thanks Andre!
A Matthew Moniz video without whining about the notch and headphone jack? Sign me up!
LOL
Very good video mat....loved it and the phone too...
5:42 "but yes, it's not exploded" LOL :'D
That battery life combined with Huawei's 40w super fast charge. Equals to no more dead phone
Few points.
1. Huawei P20 and P20 Pro can also hide the notch, so nothing surprising there
Nailed it Matt. Always do
I had the Mate 10 Pro (which also had a very strong battery) and now the OP6.
Nice video. But does the mate 20 pro offers HDR content on RUclips & Netflix like the other flagships?
Yup!
It feels great in your hand, it looks super duper, an amazing camera and very generous battery life. I'm happy. But my happiness will be tested again when the release of Huawei Mate 20 X. Holy Moly Guacamole.
Hi Matthew, I have a question...
Do You think it is a device for a long term usage ( 3 years at least).
Great video!

@@MatthewMoniz no thanks to you that you made such a great video like this. we are lucky to watch you.keep chasing your dreams 😇
Great review! huawei still improve their smartphones every year, will try to change my S9+ for this Mate 20 pro!
I got this device on Thursday. It is absolute amazing
Nice! It'd pretty awesome !
Nice video Matt!!! Can you compare it to the XZ3? Would be cool 😎
I still need to review the XZ3 = )
@@MatthewMoniz haha ok yeah. Anxious for the full review
that mini heart attack when you flipped the phone right before the video ends
