I actually think that this video is really good.
When you see ballet, you only witness its superficial beauty, its outer shell. The world of professional dance is harsh and cruel, it breaks you if you're not strong enough. You need to pour endless blood, tears and effort into making perfect a body that was born to be flawed. It's a constant chase, a competition, a display of masked insecurities.
This video showed it kind of well. And it went with the music, too
Lets just ignore this video and focus on this beautiful instrumental piece

What beautiful music! the fact is that the irony of this video to sometimes be true the dancers on stage sometimes are in a battle against themselves and against their opponents believe that this has much to do with the obsession that makes the dancers of his art, defending both his art that are willing to kill and die for the ballet! in this melody you can clearly see the struggle between themselves and their rivals.
my god, i can't stop watching! once i've started to understand piece by piece, i've viewed it over and over again... because i liked the meaning i thought i saw. on the first day, for almost a whole hour... and the more i understood, the more it touched me, the more i wanted to watch it. it was only at maybe the sixth viewing that i fully grasped it and how it relates to my life and a lot of people's lives and the powerful way in which it is portrayed finally brought tears to my eyes. fantastic!

No se si alguien más lo vio como yo, pero yo creo que este video, perfectamente escenificado, interpretado y coreografías o, de gran valor artístico, es sobre los roles de género y sobre cómo nos influencian desde niñas.
Si os fijáis durante todo el video desde el comienzo hay un gran contraste, de manera en que todo lo que acaban haciendo es todo lo contrario a lo que se espera: Es un ballet, que representa una danza de ideal femenino (delicadeza, perfección, delgadez, soportar el dolor) pero la danza final es en un campo de fútbol, hay un balón y ellas aparte de llevar zapatillas deportivas, están haciendo los gestos agresivos que hacen los jugadores cuando están en equipos y se desafían, la danza es agresiva y nada delicada, escupen al suelo y mientras al principio una de ellas parece estar escribiendo un diario, sobre sus sentimientos, se imagina, hay una representación gráfica de una ecuación al final de la página... También al principio no se ve mucho, pero parece que una de las chicas besa a otra.
Y como colofon la niña que sale observandolas: Al principio ella se frota los ojos, como si estuviera en un sueño. Eso puede representar un tipo de abstracción, o todas las cosas que de niñas no vemos que somos, o que podemos ser, debido a la educación y los roles. En la segunda escena la niña ya no se pone las manos sobre los ojos, y luego la escena final : Aparece el plano de las dos chicas que se enfrentan mirándola directamente, desde un plano que va justo hacia el espectador, acompaña con la música e invita a la reflexión. Es como si estuvieran mostrándole todo lo que puede ser, todo el contraste y variedad de posibilidades de ambos lados sin ningún tipo restriccion.

A dispetto di alcuni commenti, trovo molto bello l'accostamento fra la danza classica e la danza Haka, tipica del popolo Maori. All'inizio del video, mentre alcune ballerine fanno esercizi di riscaldamento una di esse scrive appunti di matematica. La musica, la danza, i movimenti del corpo, sono espressioni dello spirito. Al di la di ogni apparenza, di ogni canone o luogo comune.

Questo accostamento tra musica e video mi piace molto! Purtroppo è la reale competizione che esiste nel mondo della danza a discapito di alcuni ipocriti che dicono che non esiste e che oltretutto non capiscono quanto una ballerina debba sputare sangue per farsi conoscere se non ha raccomandazioni... ma infondo il mondo gira così... in ogni contesto della vita.. non solo nella danza... mi spiace che molti non abbiano inteso questo significato.

Great. I just realized that since Google's major RUclips screwup, my comments that used to sit on top here aren't there any more.
Now... I couldn't care less about stroking my ego. It was quite the contrary about appreciating others. Because at some point, when I wanted to watch this video again and saw how many rated my comment up, I was incredibly surprised and couldn't believe that there were so many people out there appreciating my heartfelt thoughts. That usually simply doesn't happen. And as I was just the same as I've always been, I felt like that said a lot more (positive) about the people who came here to watch this video than me.
And now, that message of hope is buried...

Cerco in tutti i modi di farmelo piacere, ma niente! Si passa dalla guerra alla Pace, ma questa sublime composizione, degna di essere ricordata nel tempo, anche dopo di noi, non meritava questa tipologia di video, che per quanto complessa e sicuramente sensata, proprio non abbraccia la poesia smisurata di Maria and the Violin's string...

Purtroppo credo che il video svilisca completamente la superba ed indiscussa Bellezza della canzone. Non si tratta dell'idea nè del contrasto che si è voluto rappresentare, bensì della qualità del video. Non tanto il cosa è rappresentato, ma il come.

@lauritta0 well... i'm not a big fan of explaining art. because often with art, there is no definite explanation and the same applies here. i think it can be interpreted in different ways.
but what did help me in terms of getting over the superficial absurdity was looking up what the "haka" is. i had never heard about it and a friend told me that that is what they are doing. once i read about what it is, i was able to focus on deeper issues, partly obviously relating to the dance.

@lauritta0 if you take e.g. xxlkitty's interpretation - i don't agree with that at all. it means something totally different for me. and of course one can discuss that but... if you haven't even formed an opinion yet, i simply think that should come first. it should be something you discover yourself, not by being told what it means according to just one person.

evidentemente nn si è capito il contrasto che alla base del lavoro..il fatto che le ballerine siano vestite da danzatrici classiche non implicava l'uso del repertorio...l'insulto alla danza ci sarebbe stato nel caso ci fossero state ballerine classiche danzanti del repertorio ma con braccia storte , piedi en dedant equant'altro...la danza non è il punto focale del video!
vi prego..ritiratelo dal web! E' un insulto al vostro genio musicale. Capisco l'idea di creare contrasto, colpo, attenzione etc...ma l'idea del contrasto tra la danza classica e l' "Haka" degli All Blacks lo trovo volgare e soprattutto inutile. E' un video senza senso, se non quello del contrasto fine a se stesso e basta. A parte tutto, anche tecnicamente credo sia fatto molto male. Mi spiace vedere sprecata un'occasione come questa per questa splendida canzone. un vostro ammiratore.

I've been listening to this track for several days now after my grandmother's funeral. It's very calming at night when I don't have anything to distract myself with. I actually forgot I had this until I found my old SD cards. I really miss playing the violin now. But I can still start up again after I get a new bow. Moving was not very gentle to another of my stuff.

ma che cazzo di video è? va bene la danza della guerra, la posso capire come forte contrasto ma l'associazione con le ballerine che sputano a uso camionista me fa proprio schif. mi ha fatto passare la voglia di ascoltare il pezzo e dire che lo trovo meraviglioso.

@missballerina901 certo che è un'antica danza tribale maori, lo so...solo che oggi la si associa principalmente agli All Blacks. Ma infatti, cmq sono sconcertato di come gli Ashram abbiano accettato di pubblicare un video del genere. E' davvero fatto molto male, nella tecnica che nella scelta delle comparse..oltre che il tema scelto, che come ti dicevo è davvero fine a se stesso e basta, senza senso se non quello del contrasto gratuito e basta. mi dispiace soltanto. molto.

Andate a vedere il trailer del cortometraggio "Alice vuole dire bugie" musica degli ashram,così capite cosa vuole dire quando la danza è in linea perfetta con la musica , emozioni e brividi a stato puro ...
per curiosità sono andata a vederlo. Però più che in linea perfetta lo definirei una interpretazione personale che va perfettamente a tempo. I movimenti espressi dal ballerino sono di potenza, di forza, fieri, liberi.
personalmente trovo invece questo brano di una tristezza infinita, ci vedo una forza spezzata, disarmata, piegata, rinchiusa.
Molti cui l'ho fatto ascoltare lo trovano "pesante e claustrofobico".
Alla fine l'arte parla a ognuno in modo diverso e penso a quando criticarono ferocemente "Fantasia".... in questo caso se non altro gli Ashram suppongo sapessero esattamente che sentimenti volevano esprimere :) Sicuramente fra questi non figurava la grazia e l'armonia :)
