“Orchestral” but like… a lot of this is synth. Tbh one of the cool things about “Once” is that it's actually quite restrained with the orchestra. A lot of the filler texture is actually synth (they didn't have that big a budget then) and the orchestra only comes in when it can provide a full texture. Here there's pretty much no actual orchestra or choir anywhere except for the choruses and around the bridge.
They had their biggest budget in once and dpp but in general the orchestra and the choir are used when it makes sense,imagine putting the choir do AAAH's and OOOH's in the verses,it would turn into a destiny's child song hahahahha.
@@mt451 i did not say the contrary,they had like 1 weeks time for the whole recording at abbey road i think(which still cost them a lot),i just said that the use of choir and orchestra is utilised the right way.
I find that Once has the best blend with a real orchestra that Nightwish has ever done! I would assume this had the biggest budget at its time. Also, the heaviest riffs from Emppu, so all good :)

@@dadaist1989 Tuomas went to London to hear Symphony orchestra to play this first time ever and recorded same time first shoot.
