Rohan, that was some awesome content. That 60cm Murray cod was a ripper. Well done, mate, that little dry spell is definitely over in more ways than one. That cod gave you a fair rooster tail. That was fun to watch. Thanks mate
Thanks heaps Jacob, if only I tied on the old mate lure sooner aye!!! Some days the fish just want what they want lol. I'm just glad the lure didn't hit me in the face when I dropped that 2nd fish, it came very close!!
Nice Job Rohan that was a very nice cod caught, I'm hoping to get onto a few myself around the Cohuna, Leitchville area at Christmas New year week and a bit myself but on the way out there I was planning to stop off at the Elmore weir, can you tell me is the weir still up high or has it settled and dropped down to normal levels yet. Cheers mate look forward to your next vid.
Thanks heaps mate, the Cohuna and Leitchville area is a great place to target cod. I haven't been to the Elmore Weir specifically for over a month but I've been above it and below it recently and it's looking like levels are returning to normal now. Good luck mate I hope you get onto a few
Epic catch and retrieve Rohan! Done that a few times. As for the footprints, I don’t think it’s a crocodile or a Yowie, which is all that matters lol. Great video 👍🏻🇨🇦

Mate, the Old Mate is what Robbie would have recommended, not doubt. Those things seem to be cod magnets.I have not used one, but will have to try and get some. How's the weather been down your way? Storms all last week and finally some warm up here.
Hey Roo yeah the weather has been a bit the same down here, really windy and hot and stormy but it's finally coming good again. The old mate lures are unreal, I love the way they swim.
Vindication. 2 and a half minutes into Robbie's vid this afternoon, he is spruiking the benefits of Old Mates 🤣🤔Maybe I watch you guys too much? @@RKJFishing Nah, no such thing.
To be fair I did change the lure a few times, I started with the orange and yellow one and then tried a few different ones along the way after seeing that first cod, I was using the green and black one before finally changing to the old mate lure. With cod fishing it's sometimes hard to tell if there's just no cod in that stretch or if they don't like the lure haha. Trial and error sometimes goes our way and sometimes it doesn't. Oh well at the end of the day I was happy to figure out what they wanted to eat before I had to go home, that's a win in my book! Thanks for watching mate
There's so many carp around at the moment it's hard to catch anything else aye! Try using freshwater shrimp as bait, they are dynamite bait for catching yellas and cod. Good luck mate, you'll get one soon!
I sound like an old man. But mind yourself out there there's no hook worth risking your life over or fish. That was a really dodgy spot those tree roots. One false move and your cod bait mate. 😮
Thanks for your concern Vincent, thanks for noticing I was actually very nervous wading into that water! Between that situation and the 2nd cod spitting the lure back at my face it was a dangerous trip LOL. Cheers mate.

It is hard to recommend just one. Thought they all are marketed as "lipless crank baits"there are many different shapes, sizes, sink and retrieve actions, preferred retrieve speeds and so on.Most of the better tackle suppliers will carry a range of bigger, slower retrieve, lipless baits, most of which are good for cod. The thing is, some days they prefer something a little different, a slightly tighter action and faster retrieve, or a stop/start, lift and drop retrieve or.... you get the picture, and there are LCBs to fit al the scenarios, The best trick is to pick up a few different ones to start out. Then, narrow down your range by what is getting fish. Different areas fish differently. Jackal, Rapala, Yo Zuri etc all do good LCBs. Berkley and a few others do good mid range prices.Beware a cheap knock off though, they do not perform well, their balances are all out of wonk.
I have used them for many of the impoundments and deeper sections on the 'Bidgee, where I want to get depth but hold close to the walls or weeds. Them and blades are good for that scenario. @@RKJFishing
