To wash blanket simply unplug the power cord that goes to the controller, then where the cord connects to the blanket squeeze the tabs and separate the power cord from the blanket. Make sure to follow the laundry instruction located on the blanket and manual.
While I don't know the actual degrees it can be set to make uncomfortable warm on very cold nights. We set it on low for about an hour before it turns off. Just enough time to fall asleep under a toasty blanket.
