Wildwood has a total land area of 56 square miles due to annexation,The Villages has a land area of 34 square miles according to wikipedia. The Villages originally wanted to expand into Wildwood but it was rejected by the City.So there's alot more room to grow in Wildwood.
The villages needs to start putting up secure gates and become a true gated community to keep all the rif rad out.. that’s crazy! It’s happening by us in WI too tons of building one bed one bath “luxury “condos going fir 300000 on up😳 Skip my friend lives in Summerfield SE 88th street up by where sweet bay used to be I. Her neighborhood There are a lot of x villagers in her neighborhood it’s nice area or at least it was … only thing wrong can’t drive golf cart across the main road. ..
Great video. The new cottages of Wildwood look so pretty, each a different color. One thing that I worry about is with all the massive building that is going on in Florida, how much weight can the ground hold? No one can answer this for sure but a lot of this ground was swamp land that has been prepared to hold the weight of homes but it makes me wonder what is going on under the ground. Just a thought. When I was a kid I remember many swamps and now that has been replaced with neighborhoods. I don't know how the builders do it, and I guess they know what they're doing but it's something I worry about. With all the loss of available land (everywhere in the USA) I also wonder where is our food being produced. As a kid I associated Florida and California places where delicious, fresh produce were grown. The orchards of oranges, lemons, grapefruits and watermelons among other things were so plentiful and fresh. With all the land being replaced with homes, apartments and buildings, I'm not surprised we're starting to see food shortages. Again, just a thought. And I agree about people who don't live in the Villages will be driving through the public roads and may stop off to take a swim in the pools. Way too much building going on. This wasn't part of the plan when the original part of the Villages was built and nothing had to be locked up. Now we may have to develop a plan to lock the gates of the pools and Rec. Centers so only community members can go in. Otherwise there's going to be an awful lot of wear and tear on furniture, pools and the grounds that community members are paying for.
If you reside within the 3 counties that encompass the villages (Lake Marion Sumpter) you can NOT get a guest pass unless you are a blood relative. (mother father son daughter). Even then they have to be accompanied by the home owner.
Skip- Are the surrounding communities also building up their infrastructure and things to do (restaurants, shopping, bars, entertainment)? If all these apartments and housing developments are being constructed and they've got places to go and things to do outside of The Villages, I don't think it sill impact TV residents too much. However, if they have nothing else to do and nowhere to go except into the squares, that's less than ideal.
As they say , we are the happening place with all the free entertainment at all 3 squares.. Example: on Sunday most restaurants outside TV are closed, all restaurants inside TV including C.C. are open..

Thank you for the update. Lots of places for the people that work in The Villages to live! It comes with growth. ALWAYS.
So true!
It was interesting getting to see the different neighborhoods. The Villages still seem prettier (at least from video).
The Villages is a gorgeous place to live , when you leave the bubble it is noticeable

Don't forget the big apt complex they are building on Wedgewood in back of the KFC.

I’m not mad🎉. I just want to see the Fat Boy RUN!!!
A good reporter does his research, and never admits to not knowing whats going on.

The Villages needs to clamp down on all these outsiders trespassing on our facilities
