Ahh this is so helpful! Especially the point that when something seems easy/obvious to you, it may very well not actually be easy but just something you are particularly good at! & also the reminder that failure only happens when you make the choice to give up :)

The constant edit and changing my book cover is what threatens to hold me back. Thank you for saying this. I have to push past these hold ups and go forward!

Julie, what a great video! personally, I am lucky as I have not had these fears, but I have an author group that does and will use your video to help them. Re: One * reviews, I felt I hit the big time with my first one-star review - in following that reviewer, he had given just one other review a one-star to "Rich Dad Poor Dad" which is an all-time best seller! Good company! Thanks again for this energetic video - and the call-out!!

Thanks for sharing!! I just did a new video talking about a 3 star review I got recently that COMPLAINED about my chapter titles and about the storytelling being way too much fluff in my video. It stung until I realized ... wait, this person WANTS to read a boring book. That's not my reader!

For me it was the reverse, my father was the one who would read my books. I wrote a couple of short stories and he loved them. But my mother is the type who prefers weeding the garden so when, after several years of unsuccessfully trying to get her to read more than a paragraph, she finally sat down and read one of my stories, it felt like I had won an award.

haha :) Well I am glad to know that I am not the only one that has family members that haven't read their work. I know my Mom never got finished reading Self-Publish and Succeed but that is ok. One of these days I might give her the audio version but I'm really ok with it now.

I laughed out loud at family members not reading your book. That is soooo true. They feel they already know all about you, so no need to read your book, lol

THANK YOU Julie! I needed this pep talk! All of those monsters were out in full force today. Listening to your video reminded me that there is no reason I shouldn't exercise as much bravery writing this book as I have in my career.

Ps: the chapter titles in your book are not boring, as it should be!
