I felt that she didn’t want to listen to me, and she was very resistant to my disciplining her for many years. “I’m gonna tell Daddy!” I absolutely did not treat her with anything but love, but believe me that man got a piece of my mind when we were alone. Except, he would just do it again and again in front of me, while holding my daughter, “Alyssa is Daddy’s favorite, we’re gonna be together forever” while looking at me. It was so messed up! He was also bi-polar and alcoholic. I didn’t know any of this when I married him, I thought I was marrying a great guy. Then we had a son, and 2 years later divorced. My daughter has struggled with “Daddy issues” her whole life. She’s now 31. Her Dad went from being her hero as a little girl, to a huge disappointment of a man that she cannot depend on. Promises that he doesn’t deliver. Being over the top affectionate at times, and telling her he’s disowning her when she tries to set healthy boundaries. She knows he is mentally ill, but I know it still crushes her when he doesn’t phone her or acknowledge her birthday. Or causes a huge nasty scene when she does see him. She wants that hero she remembers as a 5 year old. When she didn’t understand he was drunk, or was staying out every night. I wish I had divorced him much sooner, so she didn’t remember the good times. I feel like that would have prevented her ongoing attempts at a relationship with him. And no, he didn’t physically abuse her, but the mental abuse he has put her through has been just as bad or worse. She’s worked very very hard to become as successful as she is now, and I’m super proud of her. But I also hurt for her. Moral of the story, parents need to show each other unconditional, joyful love in front of their children. And let their children know they are all loved equally by both of their parents and God. Nobody loves one more or better than anyone else. A child must feel secure and confident in each parent and siblings affection and respect. When they feel cherished in this way, there is a happy home where children can begin their lives healthy and positive and whole. ❤❤❤

Many parents do this as a joke my dad did too. I just always felt it was uncomfortable since i didnt want to hurt any of Them so i tried to find an answer that would show i loved both and why. Later it really stopped being fun since when i was 7 and had a Long wanted. (By me)sister she became daddys Girl and suddenly all i did or Said was wrong. I pulled away from my parents but Got close Bonds with my sister. But it hurt and it scared me deeply and i couldnt understand. I'm getting really tired of watching these people because that child is so spoiled and they never say no to her that I don't know how they're going to ever discipline her as she grows up.
