Hear Us Out is our participatory arts project celebrating LGBTQ+ people's stories across the South East of England. Imagined Conversations was the project's drama group led by Tanushka Marah where LGBTQ+ community performers took part in a series of workshops to create their own performances.

These improvised sketches are part of a process where mostly non-actors have taken part in a series of drama workshops. At this stage, four weeks in, we were exploring the possibilities of saying 'yes' to an idea that your partner throws into the mix and finding the comedy from there. We also played with the idea of saying the 'wrong' thing or how people can hide prejudice through saying the 'right' thing. Finally we took a subject like 'coming out' and explored it through different subjects which eases the actors into finding the depth into such a situation through playful means. We are happy to share with you this experience which has been a joy to take part in.

Denise Evans, one of the actors in this group became inspired to write something for the group to explore and work on. She was inspired by the writing of Steven Berkoff and also she has written about a violent hate crime she witnessed in the 1980's. We took the time to explore different ways of bringing text to life and delivering it. This is at an early stage in our development.
