    How do you take notes for maximum understanding and retention; and how do you revise your notes? Could you please make tutorial or write an easy written step-by-step instruction? Thanks.

    Just in the process of reading Sartre’s Being and Nothingness. I must say that Bataille’s idea about us desiring continuity seems to be exactly the same as Sartre’s idea of us wanting to become a “being in-itself”

    • @karl.andersson
      @karl.andersson  2 года назад +3

      Interesting. Yes, I think Bataille’s ideas are not very original, but maybe it has to be like that when you’re in the business of defining what the human really “Is”.

    Cela fait maintenant plus de dix ans que je lis Bataille (je fais d'ailleurs une thèse universitaire sur lui) et je dois avouer que j'envisageais cette vidéo avec appréhension... À ma plus grande surprise, vous avez très bien résumé l'essentiel de la pensée de Bataille. Je vous conseille la lecture de Théorie de la religion, si ce n'est pas déjà fait. Bien à vous!

    I don''t understand why don't recommend the book in the end? Am I missing something here?

    • @karl.andersson
      @karl.andersson  2 года назад +7

      I found it very hard to read, it’s very repetitive and the English translation has grammatical errors which make the long sentences even harder to understand. So it took a long time to read and part 2 of the book doesn’t add anything to the basic points. I could have mentioned all this, but yes, that’s the reason!

    • @ArcticxFox
      @ArcticxFox 2 года назад +7

      @@karl.andersson Bataille is a post modernist so it's expectable that he's hard to understand. I've read the same sentences in French and they're equally condensed of meaning.
      Still, he's not as bad as Deleuze, which is a relief if you're into philosophy.

    It is such an exercise of mental gymnastics to see sex as a substitute for death. Post-modern ideas are just incredibly silly to me. Appreciate your summary though!
