Loving pace of your speech and how you review this :) good.. But "all positive review" is always quite hard to believe..

Thank you! Sometimes I come off flat but I try to be very clear. As for being "all positive" on this - that's fair. It's primarily because it's still in very early access. As I wasn't scoring it, I focused on what they've built for now and will revisit when 1.0 releases. That said though, I am very high on the game in its current state too - I have very few negatives to speak of. Thanks for watching!

I swiped up this game before the latest update despite avoiding most early access games because I wanted to see where it ends up. While I wish the story was presented in a bigger fashion, this is a game where gameplay is king, and it feels OH so good. It's definitely a change of pace and takes some getting used to, but the roguelite progression keeps things moving smoothly, capturing that "just one more run" feeling that these games live and die on. I haven't had as great a performance experience as this video, but it's still early.

For sure - glad to hear you’re feeling similar!
And yeah I should have mentioned that I’m on a 13900/4080 new PC so for me it’s been smooth but performance may vary of course particularly in early access as you said.

It definitely has the vibe! As I described, there’s a very solid foundation here.

Reviewer makes this game seem better than it is. This game is not for the casual gamer. If you go into this thinking it's an enjoyable RPG shooter you're going to be very disappointed. It's beyond frustrating 99% of the time. I stopped playing after the latest update, because it got worse with the Calamities. Make damn sure you're familiar with Roguelite games before you purchase. It's a very niche game for a niche gamer base.

But it isn't an RPG, and hasn't been promoted as one... The tone of your statement here suggests you believe "not for the casual gamer" is somehow a detriment. Nothing wrong with a game just not being for you

Too bad, because it looks fun from this review. And I don't think I've ever played a roguelite before. But the game reminds me of Vermintide, which I've spent good amount of time in. Is it at all similar do you think? If not, what are some Roguelite's I should try out before trying Witchfire?

You could try the Gunslinger demo to get a general idea, but it doesn't have a lot of the annoyance that Witchfire does, like Calamities and traps. Like I said, Witchfire isn't a bad game it's just a very niche genre. Think of it like Contra from the NES. Hailed as a classic game by many, but hailed as an infuriating impossible game by many more. I can't say who this game will appeal to, but I can warn others about its true nature and let them decide for themselves.

@@skog_1 there aren't too many FPS roguelites, and even less that are like this. I'd say Hades would give you a similar feel to how the progression of abilities works in this game somewhat in that substantial upgrades are incremental rather than solely unlock-focused or totally randomized. Even then, it's hard to compare because of the FPS elements. I'd say if you think it looks fun, pick it up and give it a try!

@@VeritabIlIti Thanks :) I'm not sure Hades is for me, I rarely enjoy top-down games for some reason. Appreciate the feedback though!
