Feeling alone or forsaken by God can be one of the most difficult experiences in a person's life. So what power can we draw from it? In this clip, TOFW ARISE 2017 presenter Michael McLean shares what his own father's beautiful testimony had to teach him about the power of being alone.
ABOUT MICHAEL MCLEAN: Since he first began traveling with TOFW, Michael McLean has been sharing his heartfelt songwriting and storytelling as a music artist with audiences around the world. This year, Michael joins TOFW not as a singer, but as a father, husband, and faithful seeker of truth who has battled a nine year crisis of faith and come out of it with a renewed hope. He’ll share the journey of his discovery that culminated in his newest project, Encountering Jesus - an exploration through song of the stories of those in the scriptures who interacted with the Savior. As a talented storyteller, Michael began his career making commercials for radio and television, and later used his film experience to produce and direct several films including Together Forever, The Prodigal Son, and Mr. Krueger’s Christmas starring film legend Jimmy Stewart. He released his debut album, You’re Not Alone, in 1983 and from there began a best-selling musical legacy that has continued to touch lives for over 30 years. Michael and his wife Lynne have three children, one grandson, one granddaugher, and live in Daniel, Utah.

I love this video so, so much. I remember when I first watched it. I was going through a lot. I was at a point in my life where I felt completely alone and I thought God had abandoned me. I cried my eyes out when I came across this video that day. It brought so much comfort and peace to know that I haven’t been abandoned or forgotten, but that God has put His faith in me and He knew that I could do it.

“If you have doubt, you’re in good company.”
I disagree. The prophet Joseph in Liberty Jail _did not doubt._ Rather, he was tired, fatigued, had enough of discomfort. None of that is doubt. TOFW shouldn’t showcase New Age philosophy. It is not found in the scriptures-because it’s not true. The balm is faith.

If you have doubts - it's because you're right. Religion is insane.

Amy Hiatt nah. It was totally necessary. When you smell bullshit, you call it out. Bad ideas and cognitive dissonance need to be pointed out 100% of the time.

Amy Hiatt thanks for the passive aggressive gaslighting... and you’re most likely not even aware that you’re doing it. I’m not having any religious doubts. I don’t believe in fairytale religions made up by criminal con men. And this video isn’t uplifting. It’s actually quite pathetic and sad. If you can’t see that, I feel bad for you.

If you don't have anything better to do than tear down other people's beliefs, values, and traditions, you might want to take up a hobby. Try kick-boxing. It will give you a chance to release your pent-up anger and agression. Plus, you will still be attacking people, but without coming across as such a miserable, bitter troll.
