Fantastic video! The common loon is my absolute favorite bird and I'm so happy for anyone that gets to regularly see/hear them! I've lived in WA my entire life minus the last couple years and the week before moving from WA I decided to visit one of our mountain lakes for the last time. I've never seen a loon in-person before that day and God blessed me with a few loons on the lake that I've NEVER seen there - what an awesome parting memory of WA! I hope to live someplace with loons like this, thank you for the video 🤍
I once was camping at Richter Pond in Groton State Park (VT); my campsite had its own put-in for my kayak. While I was out paddling on the pond, two young lions came flying over the gap between the pond and the larger Groton Lake; I presumed they were new to flying, because they were as boisterous as kids on a roller coaster! They flew around the shore of the pond until a long wait called them back. What a rare treat!
Wowza! I get to see an occasional Loon at Wilson Lake Kansas! Absolutely love the Loons! I would gladly live where I could listen to these beautiful majestic birds day and night! This is an incredible and informative video! Much love and peace to you on your beautiful lake 💞
Knowledgable content and gorgeous footage makes for a truly wonderful video. I think you managed to convert me into a certified loon-atic (bet you haven't heard that one before). 😉
They are one of my favorite birds to watch when in Maine. I do enjoy the ghostly sounds at night , thank you for the great videos and content you put out every week. 👍
Nice story! For me, it is annually great to see (usually hear one first) the arrival of that first loon sometime between Halloween and Thanksgiving along the MS Gulf Coast. They serenade late fall & all winter into early spring on quiet days as I kayak by at a distance.
The fun part is, they know who you are and they do communicate. They'll tell you what they want and don't want. They're lots of fun once you get to know them.
I’ve often wondered about the complex relationship between the eagle and loon. I once witnessed an adult eagle (on Little Pushaw) land amongst a group of loons, and then let himself drift back to the piece of land where his nest was. Bathing? Surprisingly, all of this occurred without the loons saying one word. On that day, there was a truce. That was such a great video!
Great video. I was surprised to see a juvenile Common Loon diving the surf off of Monterey in Central coastal of California. I thought they were more of a Northeast bird, but no they winter along the Pacific coast as well
I visit from Colorado to relatives in MN - where I have the pleasure of seeing and hearing loons. I'm addicted. Thanks so much for the info. I have a loon whistle and needed to be reminded of the distinctions in their calls.
I am not a birdwatcher, but I just wanted to let you know that your shots look fantastic and I can tell that you put a lot of effort into filming this, also great audio in the bird calls!
Please trade your lead lures for non-lead to protect the loons. Loons are twice as big as an adult Mallard with an up to 46" wing span. That's my little 2 cents. :) I love loons. Thank you for the entertaining and informative video!
LOL. I chaired the Maine legislature's Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee when small lead sinkers were phased out. I'm not in the legislature now, and you're right, there is still more to be done.
I recently saw a juvenile Common Loon diving in and out of the surf off the coast of Monterey, California. That’s surprised me as I always assumed they were a northeast bird. But according to Audubon and Sibley, they are also found on the Pacific Coast.
Loons come to coastal Alabama in the winter. They look totally different than when they are in the northern. They don’t even make any sounds here. They love saltwater.
On our lake, on the Ontario-Québec limits, the battles of male loons usually take place at night and sound like a terrifying raucous cry of murderers that can last for hours. In the morning, it's all like nothing happened.
You are a most fortunate man to live on a beautiful lake in Maine and be serenaded by the haunting cry of the loons. Great information and video Bob😊👍
Yes I am!
I live on a small lake in Ohio but I don't have any loons.
I love the sound of the loon, we have them in beautiful Ontario
I spent some time in Belgrade Lakes this summer in July. Managed to see and hear loons, it was really the highlight of my trip.
Love the Loon!! You're lucky to have them right at your place. Great video

They get so used to people and boats. Sometimes, we just talk to each other by the dock. But they DO call all night!
Thank you Bob I always loved hearing loons. Great content.
Wonderful video! What a magical place to live.
Very informative video!! Excellent job as alway!! Keep them coming!!

Love, love love hearing these magnificent birds! Thank you for this wonderful video ☺
Glad you enjoyed it
I followed a loon once on a lake, what a great time.

I started watching your video like what the heck am I watching? Then I got hooked by the knowledge and humor.
Yeah, I just do them for fun. It keeps me amused. And the loons in front of my house are nuts.

We had a few in the bay on Vancouver Is. loved hearing them. thanks for all your informative information!

Youre very knowledgeable and your presentation is absolutely amazing! Documentary quality!

Sometimes I have to sleep with all windows closed.
This is spectacular! How wonderful!

Yeah, I've seen them in Florida. Most Maine loons just pop out into the ocean for the winter. There's a LOT of them out there.
Glad They Accepted You... smiles
you have a beautiful home! any adventures your taking this year that I could join you on?

We moved from Florida to get away from loons. Oh wait…birds…never mind.
Loons come to Florida in the winter.
I love their spooky sounds!
That thumbnail is everything 😂
You have your own Golden Pond!
My favorite bird call.
Thanks a lot for sharing 🌹
Can you pet it?
5:01 spotted color long snout Datshund.
Love loons and this video!!
The thumbnail is gold XD
Great video!
I should do another one. They have been particularly boisterous outside my window this month.
