Naruto fighterz sounds amazing and I do miss the PS2 ultimate ninja games along with Uzumaki Chronicles, and a clash of ninja series which a lot of people don’t even know what that is today. Everybody just usually jumps on storm or Shinobi strikers or maybe even a phone game
Everyone knows the boss fights were the highlights of storm over the years. That being said, they should’ve just had a boss rush mode where you only fight the major bosses from the past storm games with the button sequences still included.

What bothers me the most is the many steps back CC2 once again made here. Just look at all the content they removed: selectable Jutsu such as Kakashi's dog summons and super unique tilts such as Madara's Uchiha Reflection, Itachi's Crow Dash or Edo Hashirama's Heavenly Gates. Not to mention the chakra shuriken. Safe for the few new characters, Storm 4 seems like a superior game all around

I think it's crazy how small little details we got in Storm 4, like the lightning effect on water are completely gone in this game for no good reason at all
In my opinion in order for me to get back into the game is the online modes, I'd recommend bringing out modes like co-op boss fights where the boss has a huge handicap compared to the players, kind of like how fighterz did their content.
Honestly this whole game feels misguided. Like they're desperately attempting to make a "competitive" game with the standard hallmarks that people THINK make for a healthy e-sport. The problem is these games are just casual as hell from their inception. No post-launch support is suddenly going to turn this around. Plus, the online folks are the minority when it comes to sales of the Storm series. Most people are in it for the single player/playing with friends. CC2 will probably taken a financial hit with this, especially after factoring in all the post-launch support they promise to do. Eventually companies will learn that you just need to make a fun game and the rest will naturally follow.
Basically as you said it's a Storm generations 2.0, so the big piece must and I hope it will arrive with Boruto Storm 5, also because it wouldn't make sense to put playable characters like kara, Kawaki or Bayron mode Naruto without the canonical story ,anyway I can't wait to play it. PS it's the first time I've looked at your review and I have to say that you're really good, nice to look at, easy to understand, quality. ✌️
Yeah this definitely looks like its builiding towards a boruto focused game in the future, which is exciting even though I dont like the boruto anime/manga. It would be dope to have a boruto game just so we can have more new content to play. If they do end up making a boruto game, I'd even settle for getting anime-original characters such as kagura, Shizuma, Sumiere, Deppa, or the weird stone ninja puppets from the mitsuki rescue arc. A boruto storm 5 could actually have so much content, and its really inexcusable that boruto has been a manga for almost 10 years now and still doesnt have a console game that focuses on its full story.
@@wasupman777 Content wise, it basically is just a large dlc pack. The only thing that even makes it KIND OF feel like a new game is the new-combo centered mechanics. Visual wise, content wise, and price wise, this just feels a cheap cashgrab. I hate when games announce paid DLC before the game even drops, because all that content could've been in the base game if the developers really wanted to.
CC2 lost something when they went from the Ps2 ultimate ninja era to the storm Ps3 era. They used to put so much care into all of the characters. Even old characters where constantly being reworked with new combos, ultimates, and jutsus for each game. I like the storm series but the og ultimate ninja series will always be peak CC2.
I also miss the mini games from the ps2 games too. I think that the mini games added some nice variety to the games honestly. Not to mention that the ps2 ultimates were cooler than the storm ones in my opinion too. Honestly it would be cool if they remade those games or made another game in a similar style to test waters.
I loved Ultimate Ninja 3 it's one of my favourite games to this day, and it annoys me characters like Shizune, Anko and Kurenai were never playable characters in any Storm game.

as someone who has already played all the storm games the story mode doesn't upset me too much, but i get it if it's your firdt storm. i think the only major problem is not being able to invite friends, but it's a game built to last years and follow the new boruto manga so overall i'd say it's worth it
I've played all of the storm games too. In fact, I was very surprised some people were complaining about slideshows in the story mode. Naruto Storm Generations had slideshows in their story mode.
Storm 3 was, is and forever will be the best storm game ever launched. IDK why the just don't keep the online modes the same i mean we had spectators lobbies even tournaments on ps3 but ps5 we get half a game for 10$ more
I just don't get how CC2 is always deleting features from the game. Like I would love to have somehow a more complex Naruto with more moves and tricks. They removed the 4th combo long time ago, wall running, clashes, tilt (special unique technique), special shurikan ect. It's frustrating. Now they barely added any new characters, meanwhile we know exactly that there is more being sold later as a DLC. In 7 years of development this is such an incomplete game/product. The story really is underwhelming and the story characters are not even available as fighters in the game. It would be refreshing if there was another publisher bringing some competition to the table.
I've been playing Naruto games since the PlayStation era and having grown up watching Naruto in french it feels so refreshing to have the voice actors of my childhood voice the characters for the first time ever
Why this doesn't surprised anyone who didn't buy the hype? If feels the players are the transaction here, not the game... the game is pretty much the same thing as before and our nostalgia is the product. I feel a game this incomplete and with what is lacking should be way cheaper. After all, there will be season passes and all that same old market strategies to drain the fans. Personally there are only two situations where I'll buy this. The first is a heavy discount... something near to 70 or 80% (maybe second hand), or when they launch a definite edition with all DLC content in the future. Until that time I can play the previous games or watch it online...
Being able to filter out PS4 players via a "60 FPS" filter option is one of the _strangest_ things I heard for these games For reference, Guilty Gear Xrd Sign (the 1st Xrd version) had PS3 to PS4 crossplay back in _2014_ Hopefully CyberConnect can address this with the other online mode complaints in the future
If I don't want to be forced to play 30 FPS, then I can choose to. I am glad they give me the option to leave out PS4 players. I refuse to play at 30 FPS unless it's one of the two friends I have left that are still on PS4.
To clarify: by "Hopefully CyberConnect can address this" I mean that I hope that CC2 could optimize the game to run at 60 fps on PS4. That shouldn't need a PS5 solely to be possible
This game is also Xbox One X Enhanced and I’m guessing It’s Pro Enhanced to and this is the first time a Storm game for those consoles got Enhanced but I’m not sure if it will be 60fps which I still think they could do while having higher Resolution.
From what you've said CC2 is just trying to grab more cash from the fan base like they did with generations and revolution. Not only that but they advertised it as storms 1-4 +some new original story. But the storm 1-4 content has been largely cut into anime stills again? I already hated that when they did it in storm 4. It's lazy, they couldn't even just use the actual anime scenes? Rise of ninja used full scenes from the anime on the 360 and CC2 can't do it on the PS4? This is not the first time they've bent the truth while advertising one of these games, Edo kage, and kurama avatar in storm 3 got full scans for what was a story only enemy and an ultimate jutsu. Let's also not forget advertising stuff for the Naruto the last movie only for it to just be two characters and some costumes. Oh and also the season pass with hokage Naruto and pre order Sarada and Boruto dlc, that ended up coming to the game in a better capacity in the Boruto movie dlc, I could keep going. They are one of the scummiest game companies I've ever seen. Do not buy their games, especially one like this. If revolution and generations are anything to go by, Boruto storm 1 will be releasing sometime in the next two years, and this is a tech demo.

There are videos of english dub and japanese dub ULTIMATE JUTSU'S. And holy god the english dub is bad. It was re-dubbed with worse direction than storm 4. Ultimate jutsu : speed up dialogues, characters tones are off in the ultimates, less aggressive in some scenes. Even some canon stuff is broken for example Haku in storm 4 says "this is the fate of a ninja" and in storm connections Haku says "this is your fate" with 0 emotion. Most of dialogue is 0 emotion and no effort like it was recorded from home and as fast as possible. Its very weird that japanese dub is left clean and not ruined, yet english dub was completely butchered like crazy. Its super bad especially if you compare it to storm 4 its like 2 different studios or management did it. Go on youtube plenty of videos if you wanna find out CHECK : Jugo, shisui, madara with fan, haku and zabuza of storm 4 and connections, the quality of dub difference is insane.
There doesn't seem to be enough content for me to pick this up on launch for full price but Storm games usually have long lives so I'll eventually get it and see what's up for myself. Thanks for the review!
I was going to buy this instead of Storm 4 for switch as I wanted a switch Naruto game to just relive the story. But after I found out that this cuts a lot of story battles and seems to be more like a season pass kinda of game where online seems to be the main focus, I am just gonna buy storm 4
One thing that would help me decide if I buy this is: Is there any improvements in the AI's fighting? Does it use the combo system? In previous games the AI was way too easy to beat, even on highest difficuilty, and I like to play against good AI in fighting games, like in Mortal Kombat AI is challenging enough for me.
Spot on review in my opinion. As a long time storm supporter and Naruto games in general, it’s a bittersweet game. It’s a more refined storm 4 with a graphics buff. There needs to be more content…biggest thing holding this game back. It blows my mind that character models and move sets exist for some characters that for some reason haven’t been added. There should be at least 20+ characters in this game, more Justus, more cinematic combos, more UJ, more costumes, customizable awakenings, better stage mechanics and translations. At this point it’s pure extortion..but i guess I’m the problem for buying it
as someone that's played all the previous games, it's fine. the best part about the game is the fighting, so i'm personally not missing the free roam and multi enemy fights. the free roam in generations 2 was pretty bad compared to rise of a ninja / broken bonds.
I would recommend picking up the Storm Trilogy if you can find it for cheap. Storm 1, 2, and 3 are all in one package. I finished Storm 3 last month and I still like those boss battles (except that last boss battle which is a bit of a grind).
Should be an interesting review. Saw your earlier post. Combo scaling is very welcome but still this all could have been an update for Storm 4. History mode of course is as expected😅 If any of its promise is fulfilled, I will pick this up for less than $30. All of this could have been done in an update to storm 4😂

Did anyone else notice bugs during special story cause I was playing last night and noticed the game getting stuck during dialogue noticed a few typos sometime the character npcs would disappear during animations and reappear
I preordered this game and this video saved me and now it’s cancelled. I’m really over the storm series entirely and want something fresh.. like something story driven like a Naruto Kakarot or a different type of fighter. I’m just burnt out.
I was really looking forward to playing this tomorrow but if I can't even invite people to play with...I'm not sure if I'll pick it up or not. And if they wait months to update the game, I generally lose interest by that time. I really like the Naruto series though so it's still in consideration. It's such a shame that fighting games (Casual or not) more often than not, launch in a pathetic state.

The lack of punishment for quitting is honestly a good thing. For storm 4 and demon slayer both i racked up a bunch of disconnections just from the game crashing. The system doesnt mean anything when it just turns into how many times you have crashed.
@@earthygoku no what? What's the point if the disconnection isn't even anyone's fault? Or if you can easily pass off the ones you do have as just being crashes even if you do rage quit? It literally doesn't mean rage quits anymore it's a crash counter made to make everyone look like a rage quitter when they aren't.
The game should just do a strike system on dc. If you're disconnecting consistently, that's probably a sign that you shouldn't be playing at the moment. There's gotta be some kind of penalty for people who do it on purpose.
@@atpr3241 the only thing I can think they could do is what they had in storm 2 where it essentially said "out of the last 10 matches, this is how many they have disconnected from" that system allowed you to actually earn your way back into not looking like a rage quitter instead of just having be a permanent shame on someone's record. As long as you aren't just actively doing it all the time you were good there was no permanent record for it. And that was before games even crashed all the time and I think it would work a lot better now than it did back then cause now more than ever you should be able to earn your way back from that when all you did to get them was crash. And to your point, if the player sees they have like 8/10 disconnections, you can probably assume for yourself that this person is a rage quitter and decide not to fight them. But the current system doesn't work when crashing is a thing. Again to your point but for the opposite side, I actually got a temporary ban from demon slayer for crashing too many times in a row. A probably 2 day old game and I couldnt touch online cause I wanted to push through the crashes and keep playing. So an actual built in punishment for the frequency of the crashes doesn't really work either, but to see "oh this person has a ridiculous amount of his last 10 matches as disconnects" would work perfectly fine for the player to decide for themself. Up to storm revolution everything should have had the current system, but now it's just needlessly punishing players that don't even do anything wrong even going as far as temporary bans and the storm 2 system is what we need. The current system with crashing being a thing incentivises people to quit just as much as not having a penalty at all does.
What's sad is that being extremely lazy with anime IPs is actually a perfectly good business strategy. low quality, low risk, recycled material will still get the fanboys to buy. Sure they can invest more and try to be innovative and actually attempt to create good games but why would they? it's naruto IP, it'll sell with minimal effort. I really hope arc system gets a shot with more anime IPs, also jjk looks promising.
It frustrating that most characters including personal favorites like Itachi, orochimaru, neji…. Have not received upgrades since storm 2 especially with combos. This game seems the same with added dlc
I'm glad everyone was hype for the new game but as an anime community we cannot let anyone be it Bandai, CC2, ANYONE Charge almost full price for a game this lacking in online features. Damn,I played story in storm games a few times but I still feel like I need that for this game too. If they had that I wouldnt mind getting it for ps5. And yes I mean fully animated 3D story with cutscenes etc rather than the anime cuts slapped in between fights. I would maybe give 20$ for this game and that's if I was really into naruto and pvp and if I had a good internet connection.
You cannot sell a game at full price and then cut the main point of the game which is the story mode to few hours. I went in hoping for 20-30 hours of single player story campaign mode, considering how much content the other games have, but ended uyp being very disappointed
my only two issues with this game are the simple controls, and the lack of content. the storm series already has very surface level controls in comparison to actual fighting games. making it simpler just seems overkill. Also not enough content to justify the the full price. could've easily been a very large expansion to storm 4 or an enhanced edition for current gen consoles.
You know, even after watching every video of Globku's on this game before this review, I still had no idea what this game was supposed to be. Was it a sequel, a remaster, a collection, DLC, etc? Now after seeing this review, I'm wondering who this game was for. The History Mode, the easiest nostalgia bait imaginable, which the entire game was marketed on, seems like it was tacked on at the last minute and missing all the production value, presentation, or creative boss fights the previous games were acclaimed for, the Special Story Mode seems like it had most of the effort put into it, but had very little marketing actually designed to advertise it, even tho its obviously supposed to be the main appeal, only 10 new characters in a game that costs $10 more than any of the previous games, and missing custom lobbies, so there's no way to actually play with your friends online for months after release.
Just don’t see a reason for getting this when I have Storm 4, Storm 3, and Storm Revolution. Did CC2 consider this a factor? Did they not think returning fans would want a refreshed look for the series?
I remember Storm 1 and 2, free world adventure, missions, secrets. It was awesome. Plus the anime was still good. Now I feel pity, Boruto is an amalgamation of power creep, weird gen Z tech stuff, weak plot, fan service and nostalgia. It contaminates every game they make, I wish there was a way to reset the story from Madara onwards (Neji can still die though)

Gameplay wise the praise for this game is universal. My only problem is how lacking Boruto representation is. He's not even on the box art. And we're missing a lot of important Boruto characters. But no online lobbies is just inexcusable
Lets be honest, this game is just a huge-ass DLC turned into its own game with lots of stuff that just feels so half baked Its funny how Yakuza Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name took this approach much better than Storm Connections and yeah yeah, i know some ppl would say those two games are very different to each other.. but what i mean is approach. Yakuza Gaiden was essentially a former DLC expanded into its own game which manages to add so much better stuff overall. While Connections is, for the most part.. has a lot of marked improvements in gameplay, but the content and presentation does not justify a full on 60 or 70 dollars. Hell, even Yakuza gaiden sold for like 40 or 45 dollars and it managed to blow people's expectations im getting sidetracked but if storm connections were to improve, in terms of single player like history mode having full cinematics or bringing back the boss fights. that wouldve been great
Big L IMO. As someone that cares less about online, theres nothing here for me. All it has is some new mechanics, 60fps, and a few new characters. Big letdown. They could've just updated Ninja Storm 4. 🙄 Not hating, but this game doesn't have anything really to pull me in. Biggest L for me was them not including most of the new academy kids.

Also the chinokie girl and the guy she was partner with isnt in which is kinda weird. also do anyone know if you can get maskless kakashi/ naruto costume without buying the upgrade edition and just grind for it?
They got Naruto end of war, Sakura end of war, but it seems Sasuke hasn't gotten the Shinden/end of war costume or maybe is an unlockable via character proficiency, icould defintely see "The Last" Sasuke getting an alternate "Shinden" costume hopefully later on
I bought the last storm game about 2 months before this game was anounced, the only thing I'm regretting not being able to have are the new characters and customization Though i don't care tbh, as long as i got a storm game that i can couch play with my brothers then I'm good, since i don't have the money to pay for switch online. The storm games are what made me realize that...wait? Naruto did not end ?? I'm from an arab country so I've been watching naruto as a kid on a channel called "spacetoon" and that channel just did not want to podcast naruto shipuden, and i didn't even know that it existed, i think i found a random 360 copy disk for like 2$ in i guess 2014?? and that was naruto ultimate ninja storm and i was shocked when i realized that yeah...there is a naruto sequel called naruto Shippuden, since i didn't have internet growing up this was my exposure to Shippuden, even though i had french channels like j-one that i apparently didn't know that they were podcasting Naruto Shippuden, because of this game series i started wat hing shippuden by installing pirated episodes when i went to my grandma's house since my cousin lived with here and bought a modem, anyways i feel like this game is more predatory and i really want to get the new character since they could've been done as dlc for the uns4 version but idk man...the industry just suck with this fomo shit, but it's not that big of a deal, yeah i like Naruto...who doesn't really?? And the games are good, but I'm just not that big of a naruto fan, I'm more of a person that grew up with it rather than a "fanboy"

At the end of the day the storm games are still the best anime arena fighters easily so this game will sell but I hope they update this game and fix the early issues it has at the moment.
Another nitpick, if you look at Susanoo in game, they look like they're being rendered in 720p. Either that or they're just not affected by anti-aliasing. First noticed this in History Mode, Sasuke vs Itachi fight because of all the Zoom-ins on Itachi.
For me personally, gameplay and special story makes it a day one purchase for me. History mode honestly should have been scrapped for a mode like the battle royale in clash of ninja. I've already played through the story alot i dont see the need.
I'm excited about Connections. Ashura and Indra, all the returning stages that weren't in 4, some boss battles from Storm 1 and 2 (which I never got to play), the Narutopedia, etc... I only care about offline modes like story and especially vs CPU mode and survival.

This game really needed new original characters similar to Lars from storm 2, add them to like a new original story and you yot quite the game that would probably excuse that awful history mode. It does seem disappointing, but I bought it anyway so I'm kinda stuck with it now.
Just to add something for online, as I’m typing this right now online mode for Xbox is STILL bugged out so anyone that bought this game on Xbox can’t currently find a single soul to fight in the online mode. it’s very frustrating to spend $60 on a game that’s broken in some parts. But hey that’s just modern gaming so I suppose I should’ve seen it coming.

What bothers me the most is the many steps back CC2 once again made here.
Just look at all the content they removed: selectable Jutsu such as Kakashi's dog summons and super unique tilts such as Madara's Uchiha Reflection, Itachi's Crow Dash or Edo Hashirama's Heavenly Gates. Not to mention the chakra shuriken.
Safe for the few new characters, Storm 4 seems like a superior game all around

I think it's crazy how small little details we got in Storm 4, like the lightning effect on water are completely gone in this game for no good reason at all
In my opinion in order for me to get back into the game is the online modes, I'd recommend bringing out modes like co-op boss fights where the boss has a huge handicap compared to the players, kind of like how fighterz did their content.
Honestly this whole game feels misguided. Like they're desperately attempting to make a "competitive" game with the standard hallmarks that people THINK make for a healthy e-sport. The problem is these games are just casual as hell from their inception. No post-launch support is suddenly going to turn this around.
Plus, the online folks are the minority when it comes to sales of the Storm series. Most people are in it for the single player/playing with friends. CC2 will probably taken a financial hit with this, especially after factoring in all the post-launch support they promise to do. Eventually companies will learn that you just need to make a fun game and the rest will naturally follow.
Basically as you said it's a Storm generations 2.0, so the big piece must and I hope it will arrive with Boruto Storm 5, also because it wouldn't make sense to put playable characters like kara, Kawaki or Bayron mode Naruto without the canonical story ,anyway I can't wait to play it.

Yeah this definitely looks like its builiding towards a boruto focused game in the future, which is exciting even though I dont like the boruto anime/manga. It would be dope to have a boruto game just so we can have more new content to play. If they do end up making a boruto game, I'd even settle for getting anime-original characters such as kagura, Shizuma, Sumiere, Deppa, or the weird stone ninja puppets from the mitsuki rescue arc. A boruto storm 5 could actually have so much content, and its really inexcusable that boruto has been a manga for almost 10 years now and still doesnt have a console game that focuses on its full story.

@@wasupman777 Content wise, it basically is just a large dlc pack. The only thing that even makes it KIND OF feel like a new game is the new-combo centered mechanics. Visual wise, content wise, and price wise, this just feels a cheap cashgrab. I hate when games announce paid DLC before the game even drops, because all that content could've been in the base game if the developers really wanted to.
CC2 lost something when they went from the Ps2 ultimate ninja era to the storm Ps3 era. They used to put so much care into all of the characters. Even old characters where constantly being reworked with new combos, ultimates, and jutsus for each game. I like the storm series but the og ultimate ninja series will always be peak CC2.
Too many characters introduced as the series progressed, makes it harder to balance so shitty mechanics. PS2 games had the luxury of a smaller cast.
I also miss the mini games from the ps2 games too. I think that the mini games added some nice variety to the games honestly. Not to mention that the ps2 ultimates were cooler than the storm ones in my opinion too. Honestly it would be cool if they remade those games or made another game in a similar style to test waters.

I loved Ultimate Ninja 3 it's one of my favourite games to this day, and it annoys me characters like Shizune, Anko and Kurenai were never playable characters in any Storm game.

i think the only major problem is not being able to invite friends, but it's a game built to last years and follow the new boruto manga so overall i'd say it's worth it
I've played all of the storm games too. In fact, I was very surprised some people were complaining about slideshows in the story mode. Naruto Storm Generations had slideshows in their story mode.
Storm 3 was, is and forever will be the best storm game ever launched. IDK why the just don't keep the online modes the same i mean we had spectators lobbies even tournaments on ps3 but ps5 we get half a game for 10$ more

I just don't get how CC2 is always deleting features from the game. Like I would love to have somehow a more complex Naruto with more moves and tricks. They removed the 4th combo long time ago, wall running, clashes, tilt (special unique technique), special shurikan ect. It's frustrating. Now they barely added any new characters, meanwhile we know exactly that there is more being sold later as a DLC. In 7 years of development this is such an incomplete game/product. The story really is underwhelming and the story characters are not even available as fighters in the game. It would be refreshing if there was another publisher bringing some competition to the table.

Why this doesn't surprised anyone who didn't buy the hype? If feels the players are the transaction here, not the game... the game is pretty much the same thing as before and our nostalgia is the product. I feel a game this incomplete and with what is lacking should be way cheaper. After all, there will be season passes and all that same old market strategies to drain the fans. Personally there are only two situations where I'll buy this. The first is a heavy discount... something near to 70 or 80% (maybe second hand), or when they launch a definite edition with all DLC content in the future. Until that time I can play the previous games or watch it online...

If I don't want to be forced to play 30 FPS, then I can choose to. I am glad they give me the option to leave out PS4 players. I refuse to play at 30 FPS unless it's one of the two friends I have left that are still on PS4.

This game is also Xbox One X Enhanced and I’m guessing It’s Pro Enhanced to and this is the first time a Storm game for those consoles got Enhanced but I’m not sure if it will be 60fps which I still think they could do while having higher Resolution.
I doubted this game ever since its reveal but I hoped a little for something maybe a new adaptation of missing relevant arcs. But alas doubt won.
From what you've said CC2 is just trying to grab more cash from the fan base like they did with generations and revolution. Not only that but they advertised it as storms 1-4 +some new original story. But the storm 1-4 content has been largely cut into anime stills again? I already hated that when they did it in storm 4. It's lazy, they couldn't even just use the actual anime scenes? Rise of ninja used full scenes from the anime on the 360 and CC2 can't do it on the PS4? This is not the first time they've bent the truth while advertising one of these games, Edo kage, and kurama avatar in storm 3 got full scans for what was a story only enemy and an ultimate jutsu. Let's also not forget advertising stuff for the Naruto the last movie only for it to just be two characters and some costumes. Oh and also the season pass with hokage Naruto and pre order Sarada and Boruto dlc, that ended up coming to the game in a better capacity in the Boruto movie dlc, I could keep going. They are one of the scummiest game companies I've ever seen. Do not buy their games, especially one like this. If revolution and generations are anything to go by, Boruto storm 1 will be releasing sometime in the next two years, and this is a tech demo.

There are videos of english dub and japanese dub ULTIMATE JUTSU'S. And holy god the english dub is bad. It was re-dubbed with worse direction than storm 4. Ultimate jutsu : speed up dialogues, characters tones are off in the ultimates, less aggressive in some scenes. Even some canon stuff is broken for example Haku in storm 4 says "this is the fate of a ninja" and in storm connections Haku says "this is your fate" with 0 emotion. Most of dialogue is 0 emotion and no effort like it was recorded from home and as fast as possible. Its very weird that japanese dub is left clean and not ruined, yet english dub was completely butchered like crazy.
Its super bad especially if you compare it to storm 4 its like 2 different studios or management did it.

CHECK : Jugo, shisui, madara with fan, haku and zabuza of storm 4 and connections, the quality of dub difference is insane.

I was going to buy this instead of Storm 4 for switch as I wanted a switch Naruto game to just relive the story. But after I found out that this cuts a lot of story battles and seems to be more like a season pass kinda of game where online seems to be the main focus, I am just gonna buy storm 4

One thing that would help me decide if I buy this is: Is there any improvements in the AI's fighting? Does it use the combo system? In previous games the AI was way too easy to beat, even on highest difficuilty, and I like to play against good AI in fighting games, like in Mortal Kombat AI is challenging enough for me.
Spot on review in my opinion. As a long time storm supporter and Naruto games in general, it’s a bittersweet game. It’s a more refined storm 4 with a graphics buff. There needs to be more content…biggest thing holding this game back. It blows my mind that character models and move sets exist for some characters that for some reason haven’t been added. There should be at least 20+ characters in this game, more Justus, more cinematic combos, more UJ, more costumes, customizable awakenings, better stage mechanics and translations. At this point it’s pure extortion..but i guess I’m the problem for buying it

as someone who never played any of the previous games aside from storm 4, the history mode honestly doesn't sound that bad to me.
as someone that's played all the previous games, it's fine. the best part about the game is the fighting, so i'm personally not missing the free roam and multi enemy fights. the free roam in generations 2 was pretty bad compared to rise of a ninja / broken bonds.

I would recommend picking up the Storm Trilogy if you can find it for cheap. Storm 1, 2, and 3 are all in one package. I finished Storm 3 last month and I still like those boss battles (except that last boss battle which is a bit of a grind).

Did anyone else notice bugs during special story cause I was playing last night and noticed the game getting stuck during dialogue noticed a few typos sometime the character npcs would disappear during animations and reappear
I preordered this game and this video saved me and now it’s cancelled. I’m really over the storm series entirely and want something fresh.. like something story driven like a Naruto Kakarot or a different type of fighter. I’m just burnt out.
I was really looking forward to playing this tomorrow but if I can't even invite people to play with...I'm not sure if I'll pick it up or not. And if they wait months to update the game, I generally lose interest by that time. I really like the Naruto series though so it's still in consideration.
It's such a shame that fighting games (Casual or not) more often than not, launch in a pathetic state.

The lack of punishment for quitting is honestly a good thing. For storm 4 and demon slayer both i racked up a bunch of disconnections just from the game crashing. The system doesnt mean anything when it just turns into how many times you have crashed.

The game should just do a strike system on dc. If you're disconnecting consistently, that's probably a sign that you shouldn't be playing at the moment. There's gotta be some kind of penalty for people who do it on purpose.
@@atpr3241 the only thing I can think they could do is what they had in storm 2 where it essentially said "out of the last 10 matches, this is how many they have disconnected from" that system allowed you to actually earn your way back into not looking like a rage quitter instead of just having be a permanent shame on someone's record. As long as you aren't just actively doing it all the time you were good there was no permanent record for it. And that was before games even crashed all the time and I think it would work a lot better now than it did back then cause now more than ever you should be able to earn your way back from that when all you did to get them was crash. And to your point, if the player sees they have like 8/10 disconnections, you can probably assume for yourself that this person is a rage quitter and decide not to fight them. But the current system doesn't work when crashing is a thing. Again to your point but for the opposite side, I actually got a temporary ban from demon slayer for crashing too many times in a row. A probably 2 day old game and I couldnt touch online cause I wanted to push through the crashes and keep playing. So an actual built in punishment for the frequency of the crashes doesn't really work either, but to see "oh this person has a ridiculous amount of his last 10 matches as disconnects" would work perfectly fine for the player to decide for themself. Up to storm revolution everything should have had the current system, but now it's just needlessly punishing players that don't even do anything wrong even going as far as temporary bans and the storm 2 system is what we need. The current system with crashing being a thing incentivises people to quit just as much as not having a penalty at all does.
What's sad is that being extremely lazy with anime IPs is actually a perfectly good business strategy. low quality, low risk, recycled material will still get the fanboys to buy.
Sure they can invest more and try to be innovative and actually attempt to create good games but why would they? it's naruto IP, it'll sell with minimal effort.
I really hope arc system gets a shot with more anime IPs, also jjk looks promising.

You cannot sell a game at full price and then cut the main point of the game which is the story mode to few hours.
I went in hoping for 20-30 hours of single player story campaign mode, considering how much content the other games have, but ended uyp being very disappointed
my only two issues with this game are the simple controls, and the lack of content. the storm series already has very surface level controls in comparison to actual fighting games. making it simpler just seems overkill. Also not enough content to justify the the full price. could've easily been a very large expansion to storm 4 or an enhanced edition for current gen consoles.

You know, even after watching every video of Globku's on this game before this review, I still had no idea what this game was supposed to be. Was it a sequel, a remaster, a collection, DLC, etc?
Now after seeing this review, I'm wondering who this game was for. The History Mode, the easiest nostalgia bait imaginable, which the entire game was marketed on, seems like it was tacked on at the last minute and missing all the production value, presentation, or creative boss fights the previous games were acclaimed for, the Special Story Mode seems like it had most of the effort put into it, but had very little marketing actually designed to advertise it, even tho its obviously supposed to be the main appeal, only 10 new characters in a game that costs $10 more than any of the previous games, and missing custom lobbies, so there's no way to actually play with your friends online for months after release.
Just don’t see a reason for getting this when I have Storm 4, Storm 3, and Storm Revolution.
Did CC2 consider this a factor? Did they not think returning fans would want a refreshed look for the series?

I remember Storm 1 and 2, free world adventure, missions, secrets. It was awesome. Plus the anime was still good.

Its funny how Yakuza Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name took this approach much better than Storm Connections
and yeah yeah, i know some ppl would say those two games are very different to each other.. but what i mean is approach. Yakuza Gaiden was essentially a former DLC expanded into its own game which manages to add so much better stuff overall. While Connections is, for the most part.. has a lot of marked improvements in gameplay, but the content and presentation does not justify a full on 60 or 70 dollars. Hell, even Yakuza gaiden sold for like 40 or 45 dollars and it managed to blow people's expectations

They got Naruto end of war, Sakura end of war, but it seems Sasuke hasn't gotten the Shinden/end of war costume or maybe is an unlockable via character proficiency, icould defintely see "The Last" Sasuke getting an alternate "Shinden" costume hopefully later on

The storm games are what made me realize that...wait? Naruto did not end ?? I'm from an arab country so I've been watching naruto as a kid on a channel called "spacetoon" and that channel just did not want to podcast naruto shipuden, and i didn't even know that it existed, i think i found a random 360 copy disk for like 2$ in i guess 2014?? and that was naruto ultimate ninja storm and i was shocked when i realized that yeah...there is a naruto sequel called naruto Shippuden, since i didn't have internet growing up this was my exposure to Shippuden, even though i had french channels like j-one that i apparently didn't know that they were podcasting Naruto Shippuden, because of this game series i started wat hing shippuden by installing pirated episodes when i went to my grandma's house since my cousin lived with here and bought a modem, anyways i feel like this game is more predatory and i really want to get the new character since they could've been done as dlc for the uns4 version but idk man...the industry just suck with this fomo shit, but it's not that big of a deal, yeah i like Naruto...who doesn't really?? And the games are good, but I'm just not that big of a naruto fan, I'm more of a person that grew up with it rather than a "fanboy"

I think they needed to see the reception before they really focus on the online aspect, because if the game flopped, it would’ve been a waste of money

Another nitpick, if you look at Susanoo in game, they look like they're being rendered in 720p. Either that or they're just not affected by anti-aliasing. First noticed this in History Mode, Sasuke vs Itachi fight because of all the Zoom-ins on Itachi.
For me personally, gameplay and special story makes it a day one purchase for me. History mode honestly should have been scrapped for a mode like the battle royale in clash of ninja. I've already played through the story alot i dont see the need.
I'm excited about Connections. Ashura and Indra, all the returning stages that weren't in 4, some boss battles from Storm 1 and 2 (which I never got to play), the Narutopedia, etc... I only care about offline modes like story and especially vs CPU mode and survival.
No Two Blue Vortex stuff is an instant no buy. They're probably keeping that for dlc.
Do you know if the pre-order characters will be DLC later? Though I guess then there'd be no incentive to pre-order

The new stuff looks promising, however the older stuff that were in the previous storm games are looking bland now compared to when it was new in the original storm games. *To make a long story short: "Not bad."*

yeah the ninja world tournament stage from rev looks p good, its no wonder they used it for storm rev demo (for those who remember lol) which was 10 years ago, damn...
This game really needed new original characters similar to Lars from storm 2, add them to like a new original story and you yot quite the game that would probably excuse that awful history mode.
It does seem disappointing, but I bought it anyway so I'm kinda stuck with it now.
Just to add something for online, as I’m typing this right now online mode for Xbox is STILL bugged out so anyone that bought this game on Xbox can’t currently find a single soul to fight in the online mode. it’s very frustrating to spend $60 on a game that’s broken in some parts. But hey that’s just modern gaming so I suppose I should’ve seen it coming.
