I travelled to upper state NY today and they're getting a bunch of lake effect snow. I'm back home in Canada and we're waiting for the first bit to fall. We've been lucky. The yarn store you went to looked amazing, I loved all the examples they had and everything seemed modern - so nice! I always look forward to your vlogs every week. 😊
Hi!💖 right know in Portugal were getting lots of wind and rain, its getting a bit cold but know quite there were it would usually be right now (temperature wise)
I live in a sea-side town in Bulgaria so we rarely get snow, just ice, and I wish for snow every winter, not only because it's pretty, but also because it makes the air less icy and painful 😂😂 it's always so windy and damp so it feels beyond freezing even if it's above 0°C
i love the fact that u made the homemade applesauce and ate it in ur homemade bowl, like such a small thing but creative and purposeful at the same time… my goal is to make more time for things like this and go on my phone a bit less like this would be so much better for my brain hehe
Ok I’m a big knitter (and dabble in crochet) (knitting a blanket while I watch this) and my advice would be 1) practice! Over time you’ll be able to ‘read’ your work with just a glance and feel if you’ve missed a stitch/added an extra one etc 2) use stitch markers! Beginning of a round at the very minimum would make things easier for you but you could also add them where you need to do any shaping to help you not miss those stitches and then you don’t need to worry about counting so hard!
woke up with period pain and an allergy.. it was the worst feeling ever😭 but now i'm seated eating my warm bowl of chicken porridge, watching your video and i'm 100% feeling better now❤
lots of great comments about crochet/knitting with stuff in the background already but one thing i haven't seen folks suggest yet is counting in a different language to the one your bg noise is in! i watch a lot of american tv/english youtube content and i count in mandarin, which activates a different part of my brain, so i can keep count more easily :)
Crochet tip : Use knit markers! For the first rows I count out loud as well, but then I just crochet and recount some of the rows in between so that I know I am not off track. That way I am able to listen to podcasts (:
These videos are quickly becoming my favorite. I loved the art experience your attended. It's inspiring me to check out programs at our local art school.
Cari! Huge tip for sleeplessness (coming from someone who constantly struggles to fall asleep) - try lettuce in hot water (lettuce tea). It has something in it that releases enzymes when in hot water and is the best thing I’ve ever tried for sleep issues (plus super low cost). Once you get over the taste it’s not that bad haha 💙💙
Your vlogs always bring such a calming vibe, and the indie rock music in the background is the perfect touch! So dreamy! Keep up the amazing work, I love watching! 👍❤️
Such a calming ep. Love the chill tone im doing meal prep listening to you. Funny you want to go see chemical romance while we just booked stray kids at sofi. :) Your right we all need events in the future particularly in this harsh winter Ohio has 1 foot snow but cozy start to the holidays. Happy holidays we appreciate you Cari.
It's cold in the Philly area today but I am really grateful we had such a beautiful autumn here, hard to let go of this season actually but I definitely feel winter approaching! Please have a meet up in West Chester or Doylestown when you visit in January!!!
I need to count my crochet stitches aloud, too!! 😅 Also, it's very interesting to hear your struggles with finding opportunities to engage in longer Korean conversations while living there. I finally traveled there in May (started studying Korean in 2017) and was sad that most of my interactions were relatively surface level travel-related topics like paying for things or asking for directions. I mean, not surprising I guess, and also I was traveling with a friend who did not speak Korean, so I wasn't easily able to put myself in situations where I could chat for longer with anyone. But yeah, I guess you saying that it's hard to do so even when you live there makes me feel a little less guilty about not having a super satisfying language experience there.
I can't crochet/knit without some background noises (vlogs, podcasts, tv shows, audiobook) (funnily enough i can't consume media without doing something with my hands) It's all just in consistency, muscle memory , the more you do it the easier it gets. As always thank you for your hard work can't go with my week without you (i rewatch 'y favorite vlogs all the time)
It's raining and super gloomy today and I should be studying for finals but what a pleasure it is to watch your videos instead. I hope the end of the year finds you well Cari ✨As always, lots of love from Argentina 💜
I like to drink sleepytime too and thankfully I have not had crazy dreams but I think it depends on the person. I had a friend drink it and they said they had really weird dreams too so you are not alone! It is also not FDA approved and since the tea is based on a plant I think that is why results vary among people.
Your videos are always such an inspiration to me! I love the simple ways you document your life and your experience! I know in a Q&A you mentioned going back to live in the USA in a year or two... is that still the plan? With your two trips planned this year, do you see yourself permanently moving to the USA next year, or the year after? Or are you still loving time in Korea? As someone who has a heart in two continents, Australia and Uruguay, I understand the complexities of the situation :P
I use pins as stitch markers so I can keep track, but sometimes I literally just wing it based on intuition or how the project is looking.😂 Which I don't recommend of course.
Sunday mornings with Cari it's just the best way to start my morning especially in this cold season..well actually it doesn't snow where I live but it's really cold out there and I'm enjoying it to the fullest by eating hot&spicy, delicious meals!!..😅💞❄️✨
AAH why is Korean winter hell?? I'm visiting in January, I'm worried now! Loved the video on the whole, beautiful as usual, just the winter statement has me worried now...
Thanks again for your very calming vlogs. When you talked about the Sleepytime tea, I could definitely relate. Had to stop having Sleepytime Extra tea at night due to strange dreams.
I can only crochet and watch when I'm making blankets or dishcloths, anything where you just keep dong the same thing! :) I could never make a hat and pay attention loll
You can definitely freeze applesauce and it will stay good for ages!! My grandparents would make tons of applesauce every year and we would have a freezer stocked full for the whole year 😂💕
To crochet/knit while listening to anything, it’s muscle memory. If it’s a difficult pattern I will count and talk out loud too. Keep practicing and you’ll get there too.😊
this video came at the perfect time for me!!! i was in seongsu yesterday trying to find a cafe i could sit and work in (to finish mfa applications AAAAAAAH help) but i kept missing and ending up in tiny ones or very busy ones😭😭😭😭 using this as a reference now thank u :”””)
Use stitch markers (or you can use a Bobby pin as a stitch marker) at the start of your round so you don’t have to count every stitch in the round (i.e., when you get back to the Bobby pin, your round is done). If you lose track of what you are supposed to do on your current stitch then you can just start recounting at the beginning of the round 😊 that way you can watch/listen to something else as you crochet!
Love how it's wild that people are decorating for Christmas in November! In my country, people start decorating and blasting Christmas carols on September 1st!!! 😂
Cari! Many thanks. I am grateful you are making these videos. Tea! This is new to me and I have been trying for a week or so. CLOVES! So I boil water, put the cloves in, and let them soak in for 10 mins - all night. Strain and use as part of the tea I am drinking, and I put it in rosewater with witch hazel for an astringent. I know you have your own charming face-cleansing routine. I also put the mixture in my hair. 1/2 'n 1/2 clove tea and water. Sprayed on the hair. I have noticed it becoming darker. I have grey in my hair now and I was reading that it helps the texture and color of the hair. Clove tea and sleep. Within 30 minutes I get the sleepies after drinking this tea. PLUS, it is also said to be good for digestion. Also, rosemary! GREAT for the hair, mostly for darker hair. Chamomile is great for light hair. Fresh rosemary is such a nice fragrance, I got some from a neighbor and I smell a sprig before sleeping. Completely lovely. Okay then. Safe travels! Be well. Be healthy! All the best to you and all of your family! YES! Going to try some applesauce in a rice cooker. That was a great idea. Writing to you from NOT as cold as South Korea!~
I can listen to something and crochet at the same time but I can’t watch something and crochet at the same time lol that’s crazy to me when I see people doing that and I’m like no my eyes need to be on my work!
That art museum experience sounds incredible! Sending this to the museums in my area for “inspiration” lol. Winter came hard and fast here in Ontario- we’ve been hit with huge amounts of snow this past week! Its destroying my motivation to finish my semester- I just want to curl up with a book!
We had our first snow of winter a couple of weeks ago in the UK. Pretty early for us! The temperature is up and down. ❤ your videos and seeing another part of the world in autumn/winter.

When I'm doing increases or decreases I have to concentrate but other than that I can listen fine. Not watch though, I need to look at my hands still :) Try stitch markers though! You can get safety pin style ones and you can put them in first where you need to increase/decrease and then do the round, also put one in at the end of each round (different colour from the rest or maybe a double one to make sure you know it's the end) This is why Gilmore Girls is my go-to thing to watch when I knit/crochet cause I know it's so well I don't have to look at it to know what's going on :D
I’m in Spain rn and for some reason I like winter better with snow, good thing I’m going to Finland around end of December for new year so yeah something to look forward to (I super relate to this btw 🥹) ❄️❄️❄️
Regarding the Sleepytime tea. Perhaps it has melatonin in it? Sometimes if the dose is too high, it can give you nightmares. One of the nightmares I had was that I was literally in the Hunger Games 😩
Hello Cari ♡♡ believe me, making a sweater in crochet can Definetly be easier than what you are doing if you do a square cardigan or an oversized one... and its easy to do while listening because you only count at certain parts of the project and then its just repetitive rows... it can be more relaxing, I would suggest you try it. Also there are rib stitch beanies that are repetitive too!
On crochet - I think it’s your pattern/object you’re making. Things like blankets, scarves, shawls, even some sweaters and hats are very repetitive once you get going. The beginning of a new pattern I always have to focus but once I have it down, crocheting/knitting is when I get my best audiobook listening done. Somehow doing a craft makes me able to pay attention more
I am currently in Daegu (from Busan) and plan to visit the cafés you visited on your last Daegu vlog. Enjoyed the cold weather as we do not have these types of weather from the Philippines!
i admire people who can crochet, i really do, my brain just isn't wired for that kinda thing - and yet. And yet. What’s your most favorite season? Mine’s winter 😅 Already experienced winter in Japan and Korea and I really enjoyed both since I live in a tropical country 😂
i too cannot do anything else than concentrate on the crochet project and still i'm aaaaalways loosing count ^^ i recommend a stitch marker for the beginning of your row :) i love your videos, they are always so cozy
👋🏻❤🇫🇮❄ Beautiful vlog, all those cafe's & that cinnamon bun😍. I wish i could croche or do anything that type craft. I'm more into baking or any food relate..🙈 (I watched your previous video a couple of days "late" because I moved that day in new home/city🙈)
cari peeling apples made me wince, lol, I don't know why that method of peeling always annoyed me, I'm a "try to get it all in one go" type of peeler, hahah
Watching your vlogs, I see how similar Korean and Japanese cultures are. My husband is Japanese and we live in Osaka and the random gift boxes of fruit and veg in the mail is a thing😆 I LOVED Beasts of a Little Land and looking forward to City of Night Birds. Also, the only time I watch true crime is when I do my granny crafts😂Don’t know why this is such a good pairing, but doesn’t require too much focus.
we're already covered in snow here in seoul on dec 1 :') how is winter (or summer?) in your part of the world?

noooooo sending you love!!!

when you crochet often it becomes easy to multitask or just relax and watch tv or listen to something while you crochet (depending on the pattern).

👋🏻❤🇫🇮❄ Beautiful vlog, all those cafe's & that cinnamon bun😍.
I wish i could croche or do anything that type craft. I'm more into baking or any food relate..🙈
(I watched your previous video a couple of days "late" because I moved that day in new home/city🙈)
crocheting is the easiest in my opinion, especially compared to knitting! you should give it a go :)
Aloha wow you are a good cook and it a nice day for a walk too
Beautiful video❤❤❤
🎶I'm just like you 🎶 Hopefully one day we'll be able to crochet while watching something 😭. Fighting!
the dream!!!
찍는 영상들이 항상 아름답습니다.
cari peeling apples made me wince, lol, I don't know why that method of peeling always annoyed me, I'm a "try to get it all in one go" type of peeler, hahah
I can't do melatonin or even magnesium too often because I have weird dreams and usually don't wake up refreshed
Watching your vlogs, I see how similar Korean and Japanese cultures are. My husband is Japanese and we live in Osaka and the random gift boxes of fruit and veg in the mail is a thing😆 I LOVED Beasts of a Little Land and looking forward to City of Night Birds. Also, the only time I watch true crime is when I do my granny crafts😂Don’t know why this is such a good pairing, but doesn’t require too much focus.
my friends and i send each other fruit for our birthdays here hahhha
you gotta get some stitch markers, especially if you are working in a round! makes things sooooo much easier!!
that apple sauce looks like it would go unbelievably hard on some potato latkes
