Trent has been my favorite guitarist for the last few years and the fact he played HOLY WARS and SCHISM... blew my mind cause those were my favorite songs as a kid
ATB has become my favorite band of all time since I started listening to them. Such massive killer riffs and they still have badass lead parts and solos. And Anthony's vocals are so clean while still sounding brutal as ever. Such a perfect combo
ATB is one of my favorite bands and has been for a long time! The Justin and Trent duo is what made me want to play guitar in the first place. Dope video as always man. Sad that I'm just now seeing it.
I grew up in san diego. moved a little north. but now my daughter is 9 and playing the guitar with me. really want to take her to watch ATB at soma where my love of music started. Would be awesome to see As I lay dying in the first spot I saw them at too.
The pathos has a real nice tone, but it feels to me more like it was setup for more technical leads than rhythm and it fits Tosin perfectly.... That revv is a chugging machine and I'm waiting to hear the melter here🤣
@@Argones HAHAHA you know what? Me too, man. Trust me once you get the harmonics down, the song is just a dream to play cleanly. As well as their other new material, of course!
He wasn't playing it right cause he wasn't in drop g#. Play the same thing he played but sub in that higher G# string where it's called for while playing the riff
its difficult to get the thumb over the neck on Trey's guitar. i have that one. and the neck is like a mid 50's era Louisville Slugger. not sure what ibanez was thinking. lol
The harmonics ball ;) This ATB riff is in my head every day, ;D it is so awesome,..sad to see too little likes on this video but mine is a ton of like,..big up´s to ya´both
The Pathos is more like the drive from an amp, I like it but I think it shouldn't go just by itself. I don't really like the Revv, I was actually surprised by the melted cat
I see several comments like "The pathos is too dark" or "the revv is just way better." While the Revv is probably the best option on the market for this use (turning clean into dirty), the pathos is at a severe disadvantage because this application is neither of its two optimal uses. Those are... 1) Putting the pathos in front of a clean amp with an extra boost. I think this is how Tosin gets his lead tone - putting something like a TS before the Pathos (or a Precision Drive for maximum overdjent). This is probably the "intended" use, since Tosin has stated that the Pathos is supposed to sound like the channel of an amp. Understandable, considering he plays single-channel (I think) Morgan clean amps. 2) Layered over an existing distorted tone. This is how I use my Pathos. The edge voicing can take a 7 or 8 string suffering from somewhat flabby tone to Meshuggah levels of mid-heavy tightness without going buzzy or sacrificing too much bass. It gives plenty of cut in this context. And yes, just like PS4 vs Xbone debates, I'm totally defending the Pathos because I bought one 😂
Thanks for giving a more thorough explanation as that's what seems to be missing from videos and comment sections. I've been trying to settle on getting a new distortion pedal but I've been having a hard time making a decision. At the moment my set up is pretty basic and my tone colors are a Blues Driver, Super Hyper Overdrive, and a proco RAT. I have compression always running, I use blue for my cleans, turn on my Overdrive to give me slight grit in conjunction with blue (think of something like alt rock radiohead). I use Overdrive with RAT to get a decent even distortion that let's me play say more Musey sounding but I'm missing something a crucial mids type pedal that'll let me have distortion (like a muse sound) but while I play more open chords (which is understandably hard to accomplish for a myriad of reasons.) So if you have any thoughts or if you think I'm looking at the wrong thing (like how I'm focused on something for mids) any suggestions would be appreciated.
Not sure what amp was used, but that tone sounds pretty terrible and didn’t do any of these pedals justice. Probably should have bypassed the preamp and just used the power amp section of something like a 5150 into a Vintage 30 miked up with a 57. Maybe next time? 🤷🏼♂️
For the pedals we were going direct into Pro Tools using Two Notes Wall of Sound for power amp sim and cab IR (one of my own IRs from my signature pack from Lancaster Audio) and for the lesson we used Trent's 2 Axe FX units (that was a damned treat for me haha)
The Pathos is my favorite. I feel like the Revv was too dirty. Almost reminded me of a better Metal Zone. Pathos was clean distortion, which is exactly how I think of Abasi. Would've liked to see the Horizon distortion in the line up. I would never add a pedal called the Pussy Melter to my board though. Even if it was the best option. Pretty cringy, even with the funny backstory.
Am I the only one who thinks the revv sounds like shit? I mean, I like more mid to low end djent sounds but still the revv was way too bright and I think the abasi was most dynamic but still didn’t have the treble to cut through in a mix
Man that Pathos is garbage. The Pussy Melter ain't that bad at all but I prefer the Revv. Honestly it'd be cool to hear them played by someone who actually plays riffs.

Also, Evergreen is fucking sick. It's just a collection of monster riffs, just like an ATB album should be.
Evergreen became my favourite album of theirs after the second listen. Super solid.
I'm willing to bet satchel was already pleased that knobs were called knobs.
Is me only me, but the REVV is tons better than the rest even right out of the box???
REVV sounds SO much better and a lot brighter as well. Maybe louder? Not sure but I know which pedal I would pay to try, the REVV. Sounds nasty!
Definitely, it is a bit pricey but fuck it. I will accrue some debt for it.
@@FirstLast-zv5od Um, or you could just build the PedalPCB clone and save like 80%.

Revv seems like it'd cut through a mix best, Pathos sounded a bit dull and muddled. PM sounded like a brighter Pathos.
The G4 with the gain knob in noon is awesome
Trey's face when he heard that the Melter is heavier than the Pathos is epic!
For me: G4 all day long!
PS: the guitarist is fantastic!

I see Trent, I click like.
I'm gonna have to say I like the Pussy Melter and the Revv the best but the best way to tell is to hear it in person I guess
Love the evergreen album. Saw them in Dallas with Killswitch and parkway, fantastic show!
My favorite video so far.
10:50 Lesson.
Love that squeallly riff lol i would be nervous playing his own song in front of him👌😅
4:04 is that schism?
ATB!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
That reminded me of a few bake sessions Ive had... 🤘
Still the best and truest pedal comparisons on the Internet.
Trent is so cool !
lmao Ok second half of this video is like a Saturday afternoon at guitar center.
As someone who owns a pathos, this does not do it justice at all! Gotta have the treble up at 230/3 to get the bite you want
The Mainest Man I love my pathos
what song/riff at 3:41
11:11 "so this is how it goes" :D
Which pedal is he using starting at 11:20?
FTW, That distortion used for the riff and lesson BLOWS AWAY the 3 pedals.
I need a lesson on Collapse...

Love Ibanez. I have a rgt42dxfm from 2005 I swear it feels better compared to the new stuff
The riff lesson tone/playing had that early slipknot tone. Am I far off?

I'm a 8 string guy and I had to sell the Pathos. I thought it was way too flubby. Which is surprising because it's Tosin's pedal.
Fuckin balls that tone holy shit. And it's only Bb standard. Trent please help us!!
What’s that riff from 4:33 😫😫
I think he's playing collapse, playing it a little differently tho
The evertune bridge helps that "booooow" tuning issue when you pick really hard.
Zero Mustafa another reason not to get an evertune, nice
Longer scale length and/or fatter strings fixes it too.

Phatos sound like boss superdrive 😝
SKOL from Minnesota!

Why does he start playing tool riffs
Pentex Sucks true
The PM is more and revv sounded more good for lofi-ish tones.
you can clearly see that trent is annoyed to the gear gods guy inabilty to adjust knobs
