Thanks Coach... Last year I did Ironman California training with your Intermediate Master Plan. For the bike segment, I followed your suggestions about pacing (target at 65% of my FTP), and finished strong to begin my marathon. Very nice racing strategy. Thanks for sharing it. You can follow a good plan, but without the right race day strategy, you may be having problems.

Thanks, Juan Carlos. Congratulations on your race. I am passionate about Ironman pacing strategies because they make such a big difference.

When I was training for my IM I used Rouvy to explore parts of the race course and prepare for the climbs as those can exhaust the most I would say... it was a good practice and I knew a bit better what to expect on a raceday.

That's an excellent point; Rouvy and FulGaz have some of the Challenge and IRONMAN bike courses on their apps so you can do virtual course recon which is helpful if you can't ride the real course in practice. Thanks for your suggestion.

Is there some triathlon event in Tampa or Florida?

Yes, there are quite a few triathlons in Florida, including some in the Tampa area! Ironman 70.3 Gulf Coast and Ironman 70.3 Florida are popular choices, and there are also local sprint and Olympic distance events throughout the year. Check out websites like Active.com or Trifind.com for a full list of upcoming races.
