    I’m glad you guys are pointing out the negativity the metal genre brews and negativity the album is receiving, it’s unfortunate that a lot of people don’t like this album

      I'm personally a fan of the album myself, but I can also openly admit that it's not as good as the "The river, stitch, etc" era.. most just probably know how great they are at that sound, and they don't do it anymore unfortunately

    I'm not going to hate on the album, however, I do believe it's a step back for them.
    I still believe Manic is their best work and is a 10/10 from start to finish.
    WIth this album, I really only liked the songs that had Cody's cleans on them and even then, those songs didn't hit as hard as the Clean songs on the Manic Record.
    I did read that they've been working on this album for 3 years, so before Manic. If they believe it's their best work and they're proud of it, I'm not going to bash them for trying new things like a lot of other people are, kudos to them for doing what makes them happy.

    • @BigTimmy17
      @BigTimmy17 28 дней назад +1

      Agreed manic was a 10 and this album isn’t bad but didn’t quite live up to the last one for me. The only songs I can truly say I dig are is this how it ends? Magnetic, Hellbent . Couple others aren’t bad but still ways away from manic 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @joaomaiatvrs
      @joaomaiatvrs 28 дней назад +1

      You said it all mate! Manic is truly their best work, a perfect mix of heavy and soft songs, plus the lyrics really get to you

    • @AquaticAudio
      @AquaticAudio 27 дней назад +1

      Agreed. Cody is so darned talented, it's a shame to see him take a back seat vocally for quite a bit of this album. I get a lot of "night club scene at the beginning of the original Matrix movie" vibes from a lot of this album haha very 'rave metal' or something.
      It's pretty silly for people to be so butthurt about a band evolving. If they didn't try new things, people would be complaining that every song sounds the same. There's no winning for these bands sometimes. Props to them for writing music that they like, and making it in an extremely difficult industry. Not every song or every album is going to resonate with every single fan, and that's ok.

    My shitpost response: God this album is straight cheeks
    My real response: Wage War has never been a band that pushes the envelope or tries anything no-one has ever tried before. They’ve mostly followed the popular trends in metalcore and made albums around that, but that’s okay, because they were REALLY good at writing albums like that. Blueprints/Deadweight/Pressure/most of Manic didn’t do anything different, they were just a quality version of the style that was popular at the time. Cody (and I say Cody because he has been the main songwriter for the band) was always great at writing metalcore. I just think there’s only so much you can do with a hard rock riff before it’s boring. I mean look at the new ADTR track, the new Falling in Reverse stuff, etc, the songwriting is just… there. It’s just kind of background noise. I just think the group is starting to lose steam, as hard rock is making a comeback, and frankly, they’re just not good at writing it. For me personally, the only song that grabbed my attention was the closer, because it brought back some of that riffing from earlier material that they were really good at. I could say a bunch of shitty comments about how the whole album sounds AI generated, or that it’s WWE-core at its finest, but honestly it’s just not worth it. It’s just boring. It’s not even a good attempt to keep up with this hard-rock trend. I genuinely have no desire to listen to this album again and it really seems to be the prevailing opinion.
    1/10.

    I love you guys, you said what i really feel about this whole scene, although i liked the album, my favorites are still Manic and Pressure, the heavier songs of Stigma didn't win me over, but the more emotional lyrics like Blur and Hellbent, remind me of the vibe of Manic and Pressure, and that won me over!

  • @MuhanMado
    @MuhanMado 26 дней назад

    Funny enough, before I fully listened to the album, I had actually watched multiple reaction videos first (I know, ass backwards). The level of negative reaction to this album had inadvertently given me a bit of unfair bias towards the album. Once I caught myself thinking so illogically, I decided to just listen to the whole thing start to finish.
    This was a GREAT album. Nowhere near deserving of the negativity its getting; to mimic Johnny's point, I 100% can see if someone was not a fan of the album if they went in expecting a completely heavy album from start to finish, but having heard and experienced Cody as a singer/songwriter over the last several years, this album really showed his and the rest of the band's range and versatility. To diminish the band as a whole over some subjective experience over tracks people may/may not like is just silly. Metal/rock elitism is just musical boomer mentality. Shoutout to other bands as well such as Bad Omens and Sleep Token for really breaking the mold on what "metal" or "metalcore" is, which is an ever-evolving artistic expression of emotion and thought.
    Great takes on this, great reaction gents.

    I have no issue with them trying new things, I like some of the songs. My issue is actually the fact that pretty much every song has a breakdown, some of them feel like they should have a nice solo rather than a breakdown, thats just my opinion though. Love that they're trying new stuff.

    I might get some hate for this, but this song really does sound like the band was in a blurry state while writing this one; the forced "blur-ur-ur-ur-ur" irritates the hell outta me. Rest of the record is solid. Also: new To The Grave in August babyyyyyyyy.

    I'm genuinely curious whether Wage War is proud and can say they put their heart and soul in each track...i feel like the record company put a lot of pressure on the timing on this album as it didn't seem orchestrated well, nor seem to find its footing/flow in coming together as an album.

    Im generally an octane core fan, but I just don't think this album does it well. Tombstone was awesome, the riff to end the song was awesome. I wasn't interested by anything else. I couldnt stand magnetic, and Blur isnt bad but is just so generic. I will relisten to stigma because those heavy parts you mentioned really didnt stand out to me, it did not seem heavy

    • @StevelandCleamer
      @StevelandCleamer 27 дней назад +1

      Took the words right out of my mouth. Tombstone was a banger, but the rest of the album seemed like it was written for octane, when probably 4% (maybe) of WW fans even have Sirius.

    I'd never heard of wage war before this newest album and when I put it on I just thought it was incredibly generic and boring. Maybe people are critical not because they just hate new things but because its kind of dull? Not all hate is unwarranted, although yes the internet takes it too far.

  • @StevelandCleamer
    @StevelandCleamer 27 дней назад

    What’s unfortunate is that they have one of the absolute best songwriters in the world as their guitarist, yet they only had one good song on the whole album in my opinion.
    I feel like every band in this genre does this weird thing where they make like two or three good heavy albums, then make a softer album that is hated by the masses, and then have to correct course back to heavy.
    If you make music for millions of people to enjoy, and the vast majority of your audience doesn’t enjoy it, you wouldn’t want that feedback? I know I would. The fans pay the bills, not Octane radio. It’s a weird take that you guys justify being honest, but seem to denounce people that have and voice a negative opinion of this album. We are consumers too, we just don’t have a YT channel.

    I’m pretty sure Cody is genuinely responsible for at least 10% of what is currently on Octane rotation at the moment. Dude is killing it. And the ppl that aren’t fucking with WW are just the loud minority, if you didn’t check social media comments you’d be under the impression that Stigma would be AOTY contender

  • @ieatfood88

    People don't like it because it's "octane core". It's the same route that Architects went down. It's radio friendly music (in the sense of satellite radio aka Octane radio). They aren't experimenting. It's incorporating pop into your sound. That's an easy route to go down as pop is the most popular genre in the world. It's lazy.

    The great thing about music is that it's subjective.. And the metal umbrella has very opinionated fans.. Can't please anyone.
    that being said, i liked all the songs individually but the album didn't flow well at all and didn't fit contextually and most of the tracks had a pretty bad emotional outcome.
