Amazing!! I've been flying since 1965 and have just a tad over 8500 hours on both fixed wing and rotary, including multi engine, on both....I've never come across an aircraft that lit my fire like this one does. Fantastic video and fantastic flying demo!!
PURE epic! Amazing plane, and awesome film production! NOTE: if ever there was a plane NOT to let passengers in or out of with the engine(s) running - this is it. EDIT: and I enjoyed the remixed classical music; sort of like the remixed classical plane. Great sound track choice.
+Backcountry Pilot Such an awesome video of an awesome plane. I found out about this plane just last week and was extremely excited when I saw that you'd done a video on it. And like +FlightChops mentioned, I really enjoyed the remixed classical music.
Backcountry Pilot Yup - run and gun shooting is really tough - And for that reason I appreciated this film even more! You nailed it considering what you had to work with.
This is by far the most amazing Bush Plane ever. I'm sure it has some quirks and odd flight characteristics, but Im sure the innovative design makes up for it.
I’ve seen this video before but it came in my recommended again and i remembered the video and how exited it made me. Such a beautiful design, reminds me a lot of the whacky 1930’s Heinkel planes, their seaplanes where ahead of their time but look rather daft. They worked tho!
That sound from the out of sync engines props is called PHASE PULSING. it's caused by two tonal sounds being slightly out of tune with each other. The one that is slightly after will complete one harmonic cycle over the other every so often, producing the pulsing sound you hear. So PHASE PULSING is what we call it in audio terms. I think that's pretty cool.
Well if they are, then they are completely wrong, if something is "out of tune" that means you expect one frequency but another one actually occurs and it sounds bad or off.
Incredible Plane, incredible production, and incredible narration! Thank you so much. I was especially moved when you described the peculiar out-of-sync sound of the engines, "THAT SOUND" as you described it. I realized that twin-engine pilots could especially appreciate that comment, those with knowledge, experience, and a little bit of wisdom who are able to recognize "THAT SOUND". Thank you for the video and the inspiration.
Absolutely incredible aircraft and excellent pilot! I can only dream of such adventures! It would be amazing to fly in to some remote fishing spots in this plane!
Awesome. Thank you for giving us this experience, really appreciate the set up you clearly went through to get such great takeoff and landing shots and the amazing skill of the pilot and his plane, all superb.
this is the most amazing plane I seen .... made me cry .... made me dream... made me rethink my ways .... made me want to fly ... I am just standing there with my mouth open..... it gave me a new way of thinking .... I still cry ...
The reference to helicopters is well-taken. Reminds me of the scene in Illusions where the main character drops his aircraft into a too-short field by "hanging in the air" above it and dropping like a hawk. 'Course that guy was magic; he could wangle the laws of physics. This plane's for normal people. Incredible take-offs and landings from unreal surfaces -- and flights through breathtakingly narrow air lanes.
Hi, it might be interesting to mention that this plane is covered in Oratex6000 by BetterAircraftFabric, the revolutionary German Aircraft Fabric that requires no paint at all, come painted and goes on with a completely non-toxic glue. Its way stronger, way lighter and tougher. As its not mentioned in the video, I think its worth adding. A great video, very well done ! We need more videos like that ( not as a commercial entity but in the sense of shrinking pilot population and agitation against General Aviation ! ) Anyway, I love your channel here, keep it up! I also have many Backcountry flying videos on my own channel, but they are exclusively Alaska Bush flying videos. Best Regards from Anchorage!
When you hear synchronisation it's called a "beat". It sounds like woo woo woo woo within the engine noise. This is the most impressive thing I've seen in well wow. Perfectly set up flown with great skill. Take a bow gentlemen how cool is this
Buy a 180hp Super Cub, stick some tundra tires on it and you will have an airplane of the same performance. An Aviat Husky will do the same thing right off the rack and it's a certified aircraft that you can insure and any pilot can fly (well, any pilot certified for tailwheels)
This thing is the epitome of what I love in life haha. Unparalleled visibility, Rotax 914's which have become my favorite engine in general aviation, and amazing aerodynamic design to make it perform in the backcountry. It really is the ultimate bush plane!
This is why R/C planes are insane in the performance curve. Tons of power and little weight. This is the grown up version of flying your r/c plane for real. Wow what a piece of work! Amazing! But with 2 engines - face palm, that's just nuts! Love this plane!
Nice design and well thought out. Looks good as well! I did notice a little flex I think on the frame under the rear prop but that could have been the camera that was on the beach looking at the plane. The spot I'm talking about is where the big front part of the frame connects to the little part of the rear half of the frame.
I think the coolest part of this airplane is the visibility you get from the canopy - It looks like flying a spaceship
With that climb rate it is a rotor less winged helicopter.
7 yr old video that still looks amazing. Timeless.
this is not a plane, this is a dream!
Exact. In fact after 7 year still it doesn't 'exist'
As a search and rescue plane this is absolutely awesome! The view from the cockpit is amazing! Whoever built this is a genius! Well done sir !
That is one of the most hilarious yet appealing airplanes I've ever seen.
Mad Max, a dragonfly, a sherpa and a super cup walk onto a bar....... awesome.
C. Perry
and the answer is "lets go"
They get drunk, have an orgy, and this plane is born.
onto a bar. he he. I get it.
Amazing!! I've been flying since 1965 and have just a tad over 8500 hours on both fixed wing and rotary, including multi engine, on both....I've never come across an aircraft that lit my fire like this one does.
Fantastic video and fantastic flying demo!!
I bet that thing could land on a runway.
Perpendicular
He's saving his tires.
just as he was putting it down at the end i was thinking "i bet he could land on a taxi way perpendicular" lol
“That was the shortest runway I have ever seen.” My reply, “The widest one I have ever seen.”
Or landing in 10 feet with a high wind
PURE epic! Amazing plane, and awesome film production! NOTE: if ever there was a plane NOT to let passengers in or out of with the engine(s) running - this is it.
EDIT: and I enjoyed the remixed classical music; sort of like the remixed classical plane. Great sound track choice.
+FlightChops Thanks! It was fun to make, but as I'm sure you know well, the run and gun experience is stressful.
+Backcountry Pilot Such an awesome video of an awesome plane. I found out about this plane just last week and was extremely excited when I saw that you'd done a video on it. And like +FlightChops mentioned, I really enjoyed the remixed classical music.

+Backcountry Pilot This is such epic content!!! PLEASE KEEP IT UP!!!
+Backcountry Pilot +Flightchops you guys are my favs!!! Like legit idols!!!
your videos come out so infrequently, but are such a treat when they do.
-- Just plain _WOW!_
Excellent voice quality, audio & visual editing, and composition!
*_Thank you, Backcountry Pilot!_*
Years later and this amazing plane still isn't in the hands of the public yet. Great video.
This is by far the most amazing Bush Plane ever. I'm sure it has some quirks and odd flight characteristics, but Im sure the innovative design makes up for it.

The Bandit doesn't have a chance of escaping me now! Thanks for this awesome ride!
buford t. justice thank you nice lady
Hats off to the Pilot, he knows what he is doing.
Never seen a plane with such a view, make a great search and rescue plane.
Absolutely phenomenal production quality, entertainment, and inspiration. Keep up the amazing work Zane!

...what most people call being "out of tune."
Out of sync in aviation terms for multi engines.
Well if they are, then they are completely wrong, if something is "out of tune" that means you expect one frequency but another one actually occurs and it sounds bad or off.
Adam Wilson dude that's cool! One of the science RUclips channels like smarter every day should do something on that!
In physics we learned this as "beats"

Amazing plane and pilot, but you’re also a fantastic narrator with a very well done video. Great music too, I’d love to have that opera remix!!
Gives me chills! As a child I was given a ride in my uncle's Cub. This film took me back to that day. Inspiring and mesmerizing. Thank you!
Phenomenal, simply phenomenal! Super Cub meets Cessna 307, but with Alec's novel engine placement. Inspirational.
LOVE, LOVE , LOVE the clear cockpit. Awesome. What a great view.
Superb flying. Just subbed. Really dig your machine. Thanks!

That's a really neat aircraft! Nice flying, blue side up!
Incredible.I love your work and am always left with a sense of both awe and envy. Can't wait for the next one.
Wow, amazing visibility AND performance.
WOW!! Awesome aircraft and vid. Talk about reigniting an old passion to fly. Thanks SO much for taking the time to shoot and produce this ;)

I actually wanted to know this. Also, what base plane is this? Is it a GT500 or ?
Im picking my jaw up from the floor, holly cow simply amazing aircraft and pilot skills masterly blended together. So Inspiring.
Awesome wicked flying. Love it!!!
Incredible Aircraft! Nice footage
Wow. I've never seen such a skilled pilot before. He did stuff birds can't do.
When you hear synchronisation it's called a "beat". It sounds like woo woo woo woo within the engine noise. This is the most impressive thing I've seen in well wow. Perfectly set up flown with great skill. Take a bow gentlemen how cool is this
Heterodyne.
I never get tired of this great footage. awesome cub
Awesome plane, pilot and video production .
Fantastic - especially The Sound!
OMG! This is such an AWESOME air machine! I dream of a plane that can do THIS.

Very enjoyable and impressive to watch.
Plane and pilot. They are both Amazing.
This is the plane my dad built in his garage for Alec, was a real process to help build....
What's going on with it? Will it be produced or is it just a one off? This looks like an amazing experimental that could be improved upon.👍🏻
I've watched this a few times now, bloody incredible !:-)
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Marie
Wow! Incredible plane and pilot!
I love your narrative style (and/or voice). it sounds like a book I would like.
Instant classic! what an amazing design
Wonderful work Alex Wild
The full vis canopy is the best! It feels like you're in one of those star wars pod things :)
Practical and beautiful design.
This frame can be one of those things that save millions of lives.
like Balto!
I can't wait to see variations of this aircraft at STOL competitions!
Awesome guys, beautiful aircraft stol

Real flying in a real aircraft.
Purpose built.

Really cool. Never flown a plane but stuff like this really makes one wish they could.
Wait a sec! Did I just see a mx bike attached to the bottom of a bush plane!!!! Outstanding!! Live can’t get any better than that!!
I wouldn't expect anything less of a plane designed with the heart and mind of a true bush pilot. Well done, I am buying one.
So did you buy one
Excellent stuff bro
Great little plane, four thumbs up
Wow great plane, awesome footage! Nice job!
Now that is some crazy good flying!!
This is why R/C planes are insane in the performance curve. Tons of power and little weight. This is the grown up version of flying your r/c plane for real. Wow what a piece of work! Amazing! But with 2 engines - face palm, that's just nuts! Love this plane!

What a lesson in video making! Thanks!
Very well done !

This aircraft right now is perfection.
Wow Great skill and incredible plane. Wished the video was longer.
This is impressive, innovation is alive and well!
that cockpit is so freaking cool.
I see you. Dope camera action. Editing on point. And flying the hell out of that airplane. God Speed..
This is the most different aircraft I have seen in a long time. It reminds me of some German Aircraft of WWII.
Beautiful plane!
