What is meant by "Flattening"
It means to put the tree into a table structure, instead of a hierarchy structure. Example below
Starting with the hierarchy view with accounts 101010 as an Asset account and account 202020 as a Liability Account.
Hierarchy view
ALL_ACCOUNT
----GL_ASSETS
--------101010
----GL_LIABILITIES
--------202020
Flattened view
ACCOUNT NUMBER | LEVEL_1_NODE | LEVEL_2_NODE | ACCOUNT_TREE
101010 | GL_ASSETS | ALL_ACCOUNT | ACCOUNT_TREE
202020 | GL_LIABILITIES | ALL_ACCOUNT | ACCOUNT_TREE
