My day was a downer until I was able to see that you uploaded some extra video reactions. They gave me a smile. You are a blessed part of my day every day. I appreciate you. Also, the reason the old stuff seems more aggressive is that they were supposed to be a hip hop group before they were changed over to a Pop Idol group. And may I say thank you for not laughing at their old style. I get so annoyed when reactors seem to make fun of their beginnings instead of just appreciating all their eras.

Yonsei Univeristy
They are the three most prestigious universities in S Korea. It’s like the Ivy Leagues of Korea.
S Korea is really obsessed with education. They are one of the smartest countries with highschool students coming home at 10pm from school but, of course, at the cost of these kids’ mental health. It’s a big problem in Korea unfortunately.
It’s the reason why BTS made a song about it. It’s commentary on Korean education.
In the lyrics of No More Dream, Suga raps that he dreams of having a "big house, big cars and big rings". This line is repeated in HOME on the Persona album, but in HOME, he's saying that these things are no longer what he desires; rather ARMY's love and acceptance has replaced these things as his dream
Since debut bts has spoken out against the Korean education system. I do not want to talk too much about it since I'm sure someone else can explain better but it's good to look up what their education system is like, it's extremely harsh and highly competitive. BTS did not shy away in their lyrics, they speak up for the youth who feel they had no voice
I just love N.O. It’s a big critic to the education system in Korea and the pressure parents put in their kids to be the best student, to get to best university to get the biggest car etc like that is the only way to be successful and happy, and actually it’s the opposite, kids kill themself because of the pressure. So they are telling kids to say NO, not to get caught in the dreams their parents have for them and not to become studying machines that brings them no happiness.
Kookie actually used to rap a lot in the earlier days. I think he got a rap verse in almost every title song back then. He's honestly SO good and rapper Kook needs to make a comeback!! We miss him so much!! 😭😭😭
No more dream era it’s historic.. they was the only idols groupe who was brave to debut with this type of concept and they get mocked and hated a lot for that style i m happy that they are not afraid for seing and doing what they like and what they want

OMG!! Watching No More Dreams and N.O. is bringing back so much memories for me. 😊 When they first debuted there really was no major hip hop based group in the “Kpop” arena (besides the groups Big Bang and BAP) at the time and they were not following the standard kpop group format so they were not very popular. And of course coming from such a small company people just assumed they were another group debuting and will eventually disappear. Also around the time they debuted there were so many groups coming out that the music shows couldn’t keep up. But BTS persevered and look at where their at now. Thank you for reacting to their old stuff.

N.O. is what got me into BTS. They made me realize to break away from negative stuff that went on in my life. Also the dance break in N.O was like they were captured then breaking away. I love that part.
No more dream is actually bts' debut song so you can really see the drastic change in their style from this era💜 NO is such a good song I've always loved it sm! & rapper kookie will alwayss be iconic 👏🏻
There is a terribly high rate of teen suicide in Korea. Kids are under a great deal of pressure from teachers, parents, and peers to succeed. Academic ranking lists pitting the kids against one another, pressure to do well, make good grades, get into good universities, get good jobs, so you can get a nice house, buy a nice car, have nice things. Early morning lessons, after school lessons, tutors, homework, some even have part time jobs to help out their families as well. The kids barely have time to eat and sleep, friendship and socialization are luxuries. They're told to endure hardship for now, for the betterment of their future. That is why BTS went with the name Bangtan Sonyeondan, which translates to Bulletproof Boyscouts. They want to block the younger generation from the bullets raining down on them.
The No More Dreams era of BTS is a series of songs and MVs telling kids that they do NOT have to be perfect, life doesn't end if you fail. That they need to take time to let go, be kids, and remember to enjoy their lives. That the best moments in life do not equate to that big house, nice car, or prestigious SKY university (Seoul, Korea, and Yonsei Universities). That's also why in Fire, the message is pretty much to enjoy life and let it all burn, and, at the end, Suga finishes by saying "I'll forgive you". Because letting loose every now and then IS forgivable.
No more dream was their debut song, they came in with a BANG. They had a really aggressive concept in the beginning but i feel they matured out of it their concept changed but still maintaining the same energy.
Fun fact: kookie was supposed to be the third rapper but was switched with jhope and became one of the vocalists.

Where's the proof of that? I saw in a video, Hobi said he wanted to be friends with the other rappers in BH at their trainee times (since he was the only dancer att) that's why he learned how to rap from RM and Suga. There's also the popular rumor where it was V not JK who switched but there's no actual proof of that.
BTS have talked about real life issues since day one. They have never shied away from the negative. They put their own thoughts and words in the music, and you can feel it. And feel their sincerity

Well K-pop industry is really indeed like a hunger games, idols went through a lot before they debut, and when they did debut that was the start of their fight or they did enter a war zone or a battle field. And knowing BTS came in a small and unknown company that near to bankruptcy and don't have seniors that can help to promote them big hit and BTS they only have each other back then. So it's really not easy for them, that's why I'm so happy and proud of our boys they deserve all the love in this world.

No More Dream is their debut song and is about following your own dream, not anyone else´s. N.O is criticizing the school system in Korea. BTS was already different from the beginning.
The block in Not Today was made of glass. They transported that big block of glass in smaller parts to the filming location and built it on site. The MV was filmed somewhere in Korea, so the mountains were not green screen. You should watch the behind the scenes video for Not Today. Jin got only like 2 seconds of screen time in this MV, so I´m happy you caught that.

I am actually crying rn. Watching reaction videos like this brings me back again to 2013. you saying that they have been fire since the very beginning and you being awed at the lyrics, the music etc, it just makes me so fucking nostalgic and it makes me remember exactly WHY i have fallen straight in love with them in 2013. I just immediately fell in love with these songs back in the day, i fell in love with this band! And you feeling just exactly the same while listening to N.O and confirming that they have been awesome even back then! Time for a quick history lesson about Not Today. I tend to post this in all of the reaction videos I see since it's that important and it's not aimed toward you per se but more of a general history for those who aren't American or are not aware of how our history has changed.
Some of the lyrics in Not Today are taken from a famous speech by Martin Luther King. In the 1960s America it was legal for then segregation laws - basically people of color (blacks) were not allowed to share the same places as whites. Everything from schools to bathrooms, restaurants, water fountains it was against the law for a black person to marry a white person and it was common at that time to see signs stating "colored only" or "only whites allowed". If someone of color wanted to eat in a white only establishment they would be ignored or removed by force. This was a lot more prevalent in the southern states where slavery used to be legal. During the 60s there was a push for what was called the Civil Rights Movement where people had had enough of the unfair treatment based on skin color and started to work toward changing those laws. They aimed to do this peacefully by having marches, sits in (just sitting in places where they weren't supposed to be such as a diner), and trying to raise public awareness of the issue. Then we had people who wanted the laws to stay the same who were responsible for some really vile things aimed at those who were working to make things better. They bombed churches, hung people, burned crosses on the lawns of homeowners and on and on. The police weren't much better and they used excessive violence with full on riot gear during these peace marches. Eventually things changed and that law was removed but Martin Luther King who was one of the main figure heads in the movement was assassinated for his part in trying to make the world a better place regardless of skin color.

That’s one of the many differences of BTS and other groups. Right of the bat BTS we’re pros already even on debut. They never acted like rookies and it never felt like I was watching a rookie group. They had the charisma and swagger from the get go and still so have it. It’s funny cuz I found out about them during I Need U era but when I watched their older videos I got even more impressed cuz from the beginning they showed so much confidence that it really impressed me beyond what I had expect at that time of discovering more about them.
This is their very first song !!! In the beginning there was no more dream. It was so good! It was the best thing that ever happened to them cuz they can do anything.

No More Dream is my forever favorite music of them. It's not their best but it is the song that accompanied me all throughout my college exams and my all-nighter making thesis and research papers. Am not yet an Army that time and not even a kpop fan but that song really save me from sleeping up those school works of mine. 😂

i just love how bts are such versatile and flexible artists they are not afraid of trying and learning new things and how jungkook is really good at everything haha sorry need to point that out because kookie is my bias haha and how bts have grown so much from their past mvs you can really see the passion and eagerness the hardwork the teamwork they always put into everything they do but for their past eras you can really see how determined they are and how desperate they are in reaching for their dreams and im so proud that they got everything they deserve rn and honestly, they deserve more. For the NO mv that was the era where they were about to disband because of some financial problems and it was very hard for them but gladly the comeback was succesaful and they did earned a lot so they continued on and im so happy they never gave up. I’m a Karmy and Bighit said Kookie was sooooo good at everything so he can also be a rapper at the beginning. Bighit consider a lot and only Kookie can be a main vocal so Jungkook doesn’t rap a lot these days. At the beginning, Jungkook wanted to become a street dancer cause he’s so good at dancing. I remember, Bighit said there’s no main vocal who can rap and dance like JK.

No More Dream is their Debut Song and it was hip hop feel. I really love this song. I love N.O. too. I love all their songs to be honest. Yeah, it's awesome to see their MVs in order and you can see the progression, how they've grown from debut to now. Also, you guys should try to react to their Bangtan Universe videos (BTS Storyline) in order also. And yes, they performed Not Today live on their Love Yourself Speak Yourself tour, it was the second song they performed after Dionysus.
In N.O era BigHit was struggling financially they were about to bankrupt so BTS was had to go through a lot they were about to disband them.😭 I can't imagine how far they've come.💜💜💜💜

No more dream is their debut song. They wanna be a Hip Hop group at first but then they change to multiple style.
They officially debuted on June 13, 2013, two days after No More Dreams video was released. Remember, they were supposed to be a hip hop group in the beginning. Kookie was only 15. He rapped in a lot of the early MVs. N.O. was written by RM and Suga after a documentary was released about the Korean school system, how it was very militaristic and individuality was discouraged and suppressed. Great video. It's one if my favorites. Love Suga's outfit in this one. One of my favorite eras.

No More Dream is a message to many youths who didn’t have dreams. It was a powerful message because there are many kids who didn’t have dreams but people around them are always forcing their own dreams on them like become a doctor or a social worker, you know those high-paying jobs that you have to study hard for. But BTS tells us here that we should have our own dreams and that it should be something that we decide for ourselves and not by someone else.
N.O is somewhat connected to No More Dream talking about dreams but it’s mostly to tell parents/authorities figures such as teachers that they didn’t have freedom and everything in their life was about studying. They’re saying that adults say having lots of money would make them happy but that aren’t happy and that is not the future they want. But they don’t have that kind of freedom to decide. So basically you should decide for yourself what your dream and future should be because that is the one thing that will make you happy.
Not Today is to me a message of not giving up and that you shouldn’t be scared of breaking out of your comfort zone as well as a message saying you aren’t alone. They say in a verse if you can’t fly, run. if you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl. Something along those lines, it’s saying that no matter what happens, you should keep going, today shouldn’t be the day you give up. And they say “together” saying that you have your friends/family/lover to support you and that is the bulletproof shield you have because they are your support, they are the people who have your back and will always believe in you.
This is a really long comment but these are songs which helped me get through middle school and high school, I’m really glad that I found them right from the start because that’s the song that really helped me.

Not Today and Save Me convinced me to finally stan BTS because after I was trying to get into them I was still a lil scared to get into it for my own stupid personal reasons but it convinced me. Not Today was so epic I've never seen anything like it. And Save Me represented a song I've been searching for but never found until I heard it and I gained respect for them because they dance really well, I really liked how they had different concepts (I became a fan in June 2018) so that attracted me, I only knew Jin at the time because I chose him as my bias and gradually ended up liking the members, even tho there was a point where I was (mentally insane) not into a certain member (not mentioning his name because everyone will flip lmao yes Ik I was literally dumb asf its all because I read a fanfic lmfaooo CHILDISH TINGZ) but now I love all of them equally and respect them so much and its not even in a romantic way (only hobi and joon).
Ok so I dont have a favourite era I like songs from the beginning right through to now so I find there is something to love in every era. Ok so you need to react to Ddaeng from the 5th muster to see all the vocalists rapping Kookie and Tae did an awesome job and Jimin and Jin were good also. Kookie did RMs part and Tae did Sugas.
