Thank you for showing that the regular mouth jars fit as well. That’s what I came here to see. I wonder why it only recommends widemouth jars? The jar placement in relation to the valve never occurred to me. Where did you learn this or did you just figure it out yourself? I have a batch of widemouth jars in my canner right now and I didn’t check the valve placement. But I never have so I’m sure that will be fine. However, I did notice that the regular quart jars I have are slightly taller, so the valve placement is probably more important with regular mouth jars.

Leslie Hobbs - for a water bath you’ll want to cover the jars with inch of water above. For steam... I’ve only started using steam for canning. Processed some pineapple last week. I used 6 cups of water for steaming 5 pints It worked great. Less hassle than the water bath.

Set your valve to exhaust leave it there canner will start to blow up steam and display E10 wait for the 10 minute countdown to E0 maschine will beep 3 times than flip to airtight. Make sure you use correct valve for you location altitude. Check if you need black valve at 10 pound pressure or green valve at 15 pound pressure.
