It is the Armenian national instrument, one of the oldest instruments known to mankind, and its music was declared an intangible UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. The Duduk has been playing in today's Armenia and the Caucasus for over 1500 years. The Duduk is a woodwind instrument made of apricot wood (short oboe) with an extremely large double reed that is up to ten centimeters long and up to three centimeters wide. The Duduk makes a thoughtful and melancholy sound. The soft tones emanate a magic that casts its spell over and over again. The unique sound of the Duduk has now fascinated the whole world. The legend of Duduk: The young wind began to play with a beautiful tree on the mountain, wonderful sounds flew over the mountains. The prince of the winds was annoyed by this and caused a great storm to rise. The young wind tried to defend his tree, but his strength was not strong enough.
