This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I suddenly had this great urge to find out how garbage disposals worked, and here we are. Completely satisfied. The satisfaction of watching a perfect explanation feels better than heroin. *puts the needle down and injects RUclips*
Since it's illegal to have them where we live, this inspired me to make a homemade compost disposal. It works like a garbage disposer, but it grinds up compost to help it rot faster. It's belt driven with a ¾ horsepower 1725 rpm motor. It has an on-off oil burner emergency switch from a furnace to turn the motor on and off. The switch attaches to a power cord with a built-in GFCI in case the cord runs through a puddle. The base has wheels to carry it around the lawn without having to lift it.
@Yazzie Mazzi They've been in america for a long time, haven't them? We won't adopt these in Europe, same way they aren't adopted anywhere else. We are taught not to throw out garbage into the sink.
Yazzie Mazzi nah, we like having a safe sink that wont destroy our fingers. you cant even throw in fibrous veggies, so you might have a garbage bin nearby for that already. so yeah, this is unnecassary -your average singaporean
Bruh, I feel like such a millennial right now. I fixed my garbage disposal in like 10 minutes which had been broken for because I had no idea it was this freakin easy
@@repairclinic I came up with a homemade garbage disposal for chopping compost. It's belt driven via a ¾ horsepower 1725 RPM GE motor. It has a power cord with a built-in GFCI and an on-off rocker switch. It has 4 wheels on a strong, sturdy base for carrying across your yard, and a second pipe on the exit area for guiding the compost into your compost bin. There is also a pipe on the entrance that keeps the compost debris from flying straight up. This homemade contraption would help people get their compost to rot faster.
Yeah, imaging a spoon falling in the Disposal, you wanna grab itand you stumble and stick your hand in this fookin shredder while you unintentionally turn it on XD
Corection 1:16 it’s a baffle also another thing like splash guard the baffle makes a small water dam to flush the waste into the waste treatment also it makes the disposal very quiet 🤫
I have an Eco-logical 6 1/2 hp disposer. the turntable is jammed. can't find a video specifically on this model. What should i do to unjam it? each time i turn the motor on, water spews out from under the sink too. tried resetting but no effect. appreciate your help.
+rras22 Check for a spot on the bottom of the disposer where you can insert an allen wrench to unjam the disposer. If there is no spot for that, you can use a wooden broom handle through the top to free the shredder plate.
I saw on this website called HealthyKitchen101, they had a chart comparing the grind capability of different popular models, which I think was kinda cool. Can you make a video on the same subject too? Like for us to see what difference does it make to have a 1 hp disposals compared to having a ½ hp. That would be extremely helpful.
just build quality, torque and general the higher models usually have thicker heavier lugs and beefier motors they aren't that different though. once you get past a certain point with the whole "stainless steel heavy duty" branding over a galvanized cheapy you get relatively similar performance with most of them only one having the advantage and that being ise's whole undercutter fiber cutting disc for slicing stringy fibrous waste underneath the main grind ring to prevent clogging just a thing, when comparing a 1/4 or 5/8 hp unit (u know really weird mid-end unit with weeeird nonstandard ratings) remember that unless it's from insinkerator it's most likely just a beefier version of the same plastic galvanized cheapy but with ss (e.g. the ise pro 777ss or the newer evolution models)
I *just* learned about garbage disposals. I'm german, I was unaware that those existed. Why do you need this? Just throw garbage into a garbage can?? Help?
Because food material that may attract flies and bugs you don't want sitting in your garbage can for the next 2 days. Don't need to waste space in the garbage can for food particles that are good for the soil and are easily degradable
My insinkerator started to make a grinding noise after I threw in some celery (now I know I was not suppose to). The spinning plate seems to be rubbing on something and causing the hammers go out of balance. What should I do?
***** My mother lives alone and told me her disposer was leaking. When i went this weekend to look at it, the seal between the two black pieces was leaking (and rusting). Based on the video, im assuming she needs a new one, as hers is 15 years old (Badger 3). Should i replace it with another Badger 3, or get a new and improved Badger, or go with a completely different manufacturer?
It sounds like the most cost effective option, given the specifics you described, is to purchase a new garbage disposer. We suggest you consult credible review publications and websites to learn about the new models on the market today and determine which one is the best option for your mother.
you do, in fact you have your own sweden-made disperator model if you or anyone you know of lives in a privately owned midcentury residence in or around the Stockholm area you might actually have the disperator we speak so highly of ....or any amount of cheaper systems from the mid 21st they aren't common though. as many including Stockholm regulated them in 64 and allowed them with a permit so it is likely a lot were removed www.disperator.se/en/about-disperator/our-story i'm trying to find this one for research if anyone'd like to help me.
there are many dumb comments from individuals who do not have any prior knowledge of this appliance first of all the one myth i do not see dispelled in this video is "this system has blades" which falls into a lot of the fear mongering that surrounds this, actually no, there's a reason they don't have any blades because they're actually intended to be SAFE yeah... rocket science for people with very limited or no prior knowledge of these things at all. two, no unless you're trying to get hurt by sticking your hand all the way to the edge of the grind chamber (i swear i see this with or without the "spinning blades" comment) you're safe and for all those comments of "just throw it away" this is the entire point of this is to NOT throw away food waste and clog up landfills, etc with trash bags full of remember, solid food waste that can be turned into bio-degradable material without the bags, etc compost is another option, that some fail to realize can still be done with this device
