Nothing makes me so bitter in FFXIV as healing. When you dps, you are focused on rotation and mechanics, but as a healer, you cant help but see every mistake someone makes because you are the one who has to fix it. A good healer has to keep everyone alive, throw in some dps, cover for others mistakes, and if they make a mistake themselves, it often results in a wipe. Healers don't get enough credit, thats for sure.
That's the main reason that, to me, healing is the most difficult job in this game. Healer's mistakes always result in a wipe. And, if it is someone's mistake, they will blame you for not fixing it. So, it would be, always, the healer's fault. It is not healer job to fix everyone's mistakes. Everyone should take care of theirselves (that's why almost every DPS has a healing/barrier skill, uh? Manawall, Second wind, Vercure...). Healers should be there for unavoidable damage and tank support, not as everyone's slave!
As a scholar I rather explain it this way I've been playing Final Fantasy XIV for about 4 years straight and I have hated white Mages players because of reasons now it comes to the conclusion that many people are going to hate and cry about or complain about certain things in the game especially people that like to hit the wrong buttons of another player you're sitting here talking about some stuff that is so so old rotations doesn't matter anymore in Final Fantasy 14 because they took that away when stormblood was announced so basically you can make up any rotations that you want
As a tank I cherish healers though I got some sucky healers since stormblood ( literally had a healer hit 70 then bounce literally before we got started in bardams mettle). But I still respect 'em though
Try pulling as a tank, using every cooldown you have one after another till you have nothing left and even after all that time the adds are still alive cause DPS sucks that much.
Rule #1 of being a healer: ......... "Its always your fault, you didn't adjust to stupid people" Once you master that Rule, you will become the greatest Healer in any MMO.
Rule 1 of anyone other than healther: It's always the Healers fault. Rule 2 of Tank: Ok, it was probably actually my fault, but see Rule 1. In truth, and this might be because I have issues, if I'm tanking and we wipe, short of the healer blatantly not doing their job (which has happened twice in my entire FFXIV life), I assume it's my fault.
Yeah healers have it tough. Fortunately the community is really good, but in events where you get shit stains for people as party members expect a lot of blaming.
I've always seen healing as a thankless job and deeply appreciate those who do it and enjoy it, because I don't think I ever could. My commendations usually go to the healer or the tank for obvs reasons. I'm a DPS main and those guys are literally my make or break it (because I also suck at the game, so...) To all healers: Ilu and respect you and ty for your patience and healing my dead ass.
I'm a healer because I like the added layer of complexity that comes from DPSing while also doing mechanics and staying aware of and managing the health of my teammates. Started as a WHM, but I did level DRK and GNB to max, which was fun. I switch between Healer and tank more or less evenly now, but I also have a couple magic DPS unlocked when I feel like zoning out and just doing damage and mechanics.
yes especially if you play astro you can tell a good dps from a bad one really fast if they dont stand inside my earthly star you die seriously so tired of loosing gcds to extra heals
As a defense, the healing aoe isn't shown if people have turned the effects off. Some fights are way too flashy with everything on and there isn't an option for specific spells
@@seralucii as someone who plays all roles no not true i always see star on the ground if ppl have every animation on maybe but thats an issue on their side they need to fix its a nono
As a healer main i feel your pain... but its also super fun being a healer with a sub par team. It really tests your skills and if you can keep everyone alive or constantly resurrected its good :)
This video is already ancient, but my anxiety while healing is getting worse, basically because I don't have enough time to play anymore due to this stupid pandemic (I'm a healthcare worker IRL). I REALLY want to try the new Sage because everyone is telling me is super fun job to play, but the only thing I want to do as I log into the game is burning things and/or chill while crafting :(
wtf you guys talking healers get almost every fuking single time all coms in any group ive been in its more frustrating as tank you do a perfect job as tank and no one cares all just com the healer even though tanking is the most boring job in the game you should automatically get alll coms as tank for playing such a boring class
I recall I had a tank doing some huge pulls in a lower level dungeon. I still managed to keep up with the heals alright and the tank even complemented me for it. No commends though. Not a one. :|
most dps dont really pay attention to what the healer does.you could be doing some god level healing and damage mitigation and most wouldnt even notice.or it would go over their head.most of em wouldnt even notice how close you were to a complete wipe if it werent for your quick reflexes and strategies.which is understandable.they got other things to think about (aka doing their job).and also, people dont really give out commendations.and a lot of those who do ,they just click on somebody at random.i dont even wanna tell you how many times i carried entire full parties for 50 minutes in high end content and got one lousy commendation out of 7 people.keeping tanks who didnt know what they were doing alive, baby sitting the other healer who keeps dying on me and working overtime to keep dps alive while they eat aoes and mechanics like their lives depended on it.after a couple of wipes people subconsciously start getting embittered at the healer.cause youre the guy supposed to keep everybody alive and you didnt (even tho it was due to no fault of your own).then other times, you clear something on the first try and nobody died or stayed dead for too long, and the commendations start pouring in (even tho' i didnt do anything special AT ALL cause everybody was doing their job which made my job a walk in the park)
As a healer main...or I guess healer in hiatus, I feel your pain. "Mechanics are for cars! :D" Tanks that don't CD but pull big just irk me to no end. It's even worse when the tank's a butt and thinks it's my fault because I can't heal that 90% of his health in damage he's taken every second, and it's further made worse, because we are mentors. Mentors always get trashed on because of the bad eggs who just wanted the crown. I'm glad to see you at least got one comm for your hard work.
"Always is the healer's fault" as an excuse for somebody else mistakes -_-. That's annoying. I'm main DPS (especifically, I'm main BLM), and I have the "bad habit" of avoiding AoEs and using my manawall when I'm going to take damage. It pisses me off when I'm healing and I have in my party that kind of caster who doesnt move, even if they are going to die, thinking "The healer's job is healing me". I always let them die. >:D.
I agree. Being a healer is quite sturdy in Stormblood. Most of my DF dungeons consists in cure-II/benefic-II spam actually. I play Tank/Heal (50/50) and it helps me a lot to know what to do to ease the other role. Surprisingly when I tank, healers are always surprised that I wait before pulling a boss (For their MP restoration). I think it's sad because everybody just want to rush. A few seconds really ease the healer, poping CD or keeping tank stance on big packs too. Healers can pull an amazing DPS if tanks let them some breath space.
I know, LOL,. It was a joke for those tanks who take big pulls without using CDs. This video is just a parody of what you can find on roulettes. As I said in the description, the run was actually pretty fun, I didn't even complain to them for anything ^^
It's a mentor roulette, isn't not yelling at people assumed? I realize the video is a parody, but I think the video would have been better without the mentor aspect of it as I'm not sure I'd be upset with people in a mentor roulette fucking up as that's almost the entire point.
I can understand this pain. It’s why I Tank now. Having been a healer I try to be understanding of how healers must feel in certain situations. I do my best to mitigate and go at the healers pace.
As an Au'ra Tank male I have to say this video was enlightening. New perspectives from both a class I heavily rely on and seeing the world from that small of a perspective
Oddly enough, got recommended this video, not sure why. Lol. Even though I know this video is old, and it's more or less taken as a joke for what a lot of healers have to go through, I can relate to a lot of things in here. Mentor aside, even though I've done a few on tanks and heals, I see this pretty frequently in dungeons in general. I main AST, it's my favorite healer. It's strong, busy, and overall fun to play. I ran into an issue in level 90 dungeon the other day where our Paladin wouldn't use his cooldowns on pulls, while pulling wall to wall. The only abilities I seen him use were Sheltron, and I think he used one Rampart on mobs. Other than that, didn't use a single thing, not even Clemency. However, he did use his cooldowns on the bosses though, and in most cases, the mobs hit way harder than the boss because he's taking so much damage at once. For arguments sake, I'll normally keep quiet about those things, but every once and a while I'll mention that they need to use them, only to be told that they are using their cooldowns. I have my buffs on party list set to 10, so I can easily tell if they're using or not. Tanks not using cooldowns makes for a bad day for a healer.
Level 50 WHM, I'm not the best, but I do my best. I usually own up to my mistakes, but I swear some of my worst runs were with tanks that don't know what Tank Stance is. 😭😭😭
Few people knows it but if tanks knows how to mitigate then healers can output to almost 40% of blackmage damage and speed things up. I main blm and was surprised how much damage i could do as whm if tanks mitigate and dps dodges aoes.
This reminds me of my mentor roulette in Heavensword (I have stop playing it since I don’t have time in my senior year, but I still watch patch notes and keep track on it), I was healing in Aurum vale (I think that was a hard dungeon for lvl 47 actually) and a new-bee tank pulled all the mobs in the first room and stood on the yellow shit, and when he died, he literally blamed me for being a bad healer. And it took us around 60 mins and 7+ wipes to get all of the dungeon through... I had every savage content on farm back in my day and I still thought that aurum vale was the mega-savage dungeon and was even harder than any existing raid xD
@@Eiko_Kisaragi sorry I got this popped up on my recommended so I just quickly watched and made a comment I’m not going to read descriptions of every short video I watch lol
As a tank, it helps when people learn the order or situations for mitigation to make the healers' job easier, that being said, sometime you can have it on and it feels like you don't, like in the video's case, they could have mitigated while pulling, but the did mitigate. As for failing mechanics, that's never your fault as healer, if you had a lot of time to recover them maybe? But not if they just get deleted or drop just before more damage comes out, can't help that. Most things in mentor roulette don't have enrages so DPS shouldn't be too much of an issue so you can get them in your own time. And as for attacking too soon after a rez, just let them know they can walk but not do actions, at least if they're listening, they learn something and that's basically what mentor roulette is for. My only problems in mentor roulette is when you try and they don't listen, can't do much there but they'll get it one day, probably.
I didn't notice this video was three years old up until you casted Protect. I miss protect. Now, tanks just run ahead with sprint like they're in a dog race without giving me time to greet the party.
Many years of playing a healer main in wow has made me already jaded when it comes to healing.... now it's a new flavor of salt when the tank says I'm not healing properly and I haven't seen a single mitigation proc'd.... NNNNRRREEEEEEEEEEEE (That's is all thank you for my small healer main rant)
To be fair, I'm somehow constantly missing the giant red eyes as healer, because I'm too focused on my team/not always looking directly at the boss as I play.
And you don't need to. I usually focus target the boss, and if I see a slow moving bar, I pay attention to the mechanic, otherwise, keep doing your thing
That's and old ass thingee called "TP" (tech points), that was the melee's MP. It was a mess mechanic, because sprint used the whole bar of TP so the melees coulnd't use sprint in any fight or they couldn't even use their skills LOL. If you look at my HP/MP bar at the bottom of the screen in any other part of the video, you can see a yellow one that says "TP" :)
As somewhat of a relatively new GNB player I've always wondered how well I do with trying to manage midigation and stretching them out as much as I can to put less strain on the healer, but the commendations make me feel like I'm not doing to bad.
I suck as a healer too but trying to get better , this coming from a tank main. It's definitely a role reversal. But when i do put the mentor crown on as a healer , i get in the mind set and role of a Death Mage which plays out like this. Your not doing it right unless someone dies. " why are you not healing us we are dying!!" Because I am playing DEATH MAGE!!!!
Mitchell Grim I have a friend who is main scholar and he always says "I DPS because I like to make the healing difficult. If it is not difficult, it is boring" xD so he only heals us when Eos cant handle it anymore LOL!!
This reminds me of my time playing the MMORPG: Perfect World International. We used to run raids and what not doing over millions of damage. Until someone messes up and we end up getting wiped or a player leaving. I believe the instance was called: The Forgotten Frost Grounds. Even worse was the instance Seat of Torment. The world bosses were a pain in the butt though and some bosses even have passive effect of halving your HP and using Hp drain. Then 1 shooting you. The most common instance raid was Twilight Temple. I played every character role in the raid instances. Some raid bosses, will spam AOE moves. If your not prepared with good gear they can one shot you. Most raid instances though had at least. 7 or 8 bosses and 4 or 5 mini bosses. Even the minions/mobs were a pain in the butt when they were grouped up. Yup a I had to pull mobs before using my tank or dps. Healing was a pain everyone was butt sore and shouting for heal due to crazy mob/boss damage. Especially when the boss can at any time hit your entire group with AOE status effects in are really wide range. And possible one shot if not buffed. I am happy I beat all three of those raid instances though lol.....ohh unlike most other MMORPG's they run more then day and night cycles. They use changing seasons as well. Territory War and Guild War was not bad in game though. All the updates for it are free and the only pay to win was fashion and gear cosmetics. But the rest is all grinding to make better gear.
I just started playing the game like 3 weeks ago and chose dps for the sole reason, that I don't wanna learn a new game and mechanics as a healer because that will stress the hell out of me even though I've been playing healer in mmo's for like 9 years. The thing is even as a dps I can't turn off my healer eyes and just go "oh no" everytime I see someone die to a mechanic that's perfectly avoidable. Or I'm running away from people that got something bad above their head but are VERY fcking persistent on cuddling with my - admitably very cute - Dancer. And if I got the bad thing it's my first priority to not kill any healers with it. So I feel the cringe even if I'm not the one that's got to heal that shit XD
As a Tank, sometimes I get insecure thinking if I pull too little and make the run go too slow, but playing as a dps for a week makes me realize that most tanks are incompetent as hell and would pull beyond what they could actually handle and I find solace in knowing that a slow run is better than a run where your entire party wipes 3-4+ times because you kept overestimating just how much your healer would actually kiss your ass.
Nothing sucks worse than when you're offtanking, and the main tank is just....awful, and everyone wants you two to switch but the main tank wont tank swap, or fights for aggro forever.
A few weeks ago I was healing thok ast thok and a major mech is to kill the butterflies that come down. Majority of DPS ignored them and people were surprised when half the party died when you get suspended mid-air with the swords. A dragoon said "it's the healers job to protect us." With the help of the other healer we rezzed the full party back and I got one comm. pain :D
I had a tank run so fast and started pulling large mobs. My heals was out of range and he didn’t use mitigation. He died but i manage to keep both dps alive who had agro when i caught up. Revive the tank then manage to stun mob with holy then aoe heal the whole party. Hard part about healing is that it’s not a rotation but reacting how your party plays. I sometimes wish i could say the things other healers say to their party but i’ll just be accused of being toxic. 😂 especially if you have the crown on your name.
You don't need mentor roulette for that though, normal leveling roulette is completely sufficent. Especially fun if the tank decides to ignore you're "I'm undergeared" in the lvl 69 dungeon with 60er gear and you have an also undergeared AOE-lover on top of it. I think I let that dps die about three times in the whole run, whoops. To be fair I also used plenty of lilies and even benediction on him to keep him alive the rest of the time but the tank and myself take priority (there were also many raid wide, I actually managed to not stand in a single AOE myself that time) Edit: I just realized I spelled die as dye and have no idea why xD
I pretty much only heal in any game I play, but I have come to resent the position. There is nothing worse than watching your DPS stand in avoidable damage, expecting that they will either be alright since you will heal them, or that they will be res'd if they die...if you have done a fight before, and succeeded while ignoring mechanics...congratulations for riding on the coattails of some pretty awesome people. Healers have a job to do. While we have the ability to fix mistakes, if you think that you can get away with avoiding unnecessary damage because "they will adjust if its just me", get your head out of your ass. I see this EXTENSIVELY in 24-man raids, because there are usually more than one DPS with "near death" status by the middle of a fight (meaning they died twice relatively quickly). If you're new to the fight, I understand to an extent. I will be much MORE understanding though if you put initiative in and ASK WHAT TO DO. I would rather tell you how something works than have to get stressed out because I'm splitting my attention between you, mechanics, and unavoidable damage. We are a TEAM. WORK WITH ME.
As a Main BLM myself, and being a job that optimize the DPS being a turret and not moving, I learned that keeping myself alive by avoiding aoe and doing the mechanics right, raises my DPS more than dying by standing in an aoe. The people who have play with me in any party before can tell that I rarely die by my own mistakes. So I feel your pain when you see those DPS standing in aoes and ignoring mechanics. I always complain at those BLMs (well, DPS in general) that don't move to "increase their damage" and forcing the healer to heal them, when it is unnecesary. I can understand when you forget a mechanic once, or you get distracted, but... with that excuse? It is just selfish. It is almost the same that those DPSs who don't use Diversion before the pull, and the tank loses the aggro, and the DPS dies. It is not the tank's fault. Sometimes it is almost imposible to keep the aggro when your DPSs are overgeared or their opener is full of critict hits. People is just not used to playing in a team.
@@Eiko_Kisaragi I agree with you completely, and I'm glad that you see it the same way. Furthermore, you raise a really good point regarding the trade off, and it's something I wish more people thought about; if you are dead, you can't pad your DPS numbers AT ALL. To give people an understanding, healing is about priorities. We need to prioritize our mana output, cast times, and cool-downs to priority targets. This includes the tank, those who were targeted by a mechanic, and dealing with raid/group-wide unavoidable damage. If I have limited/no mana, popped cooldowns, or had to use swift-cast to raise/heal you, then there is a greater chance I will be unable to help the rest of the team in time. Thus, standing in damage directly affects the party's ability to succeed.
@@sasamosamo it is something you find out when you try a job your are not used to. If you only play DPS, you will never understand how annoying is to heal a lazy DPS while keeping the MT alive, for example. Or you will never see how difficult is to keep the aggro as a tank when your DPS is overgeared and/or not using Diversion/Lucid Dreaming. It is not the same if we talk about the other way around: if you are main healer/tank, and you try DPS jobs, people are usually more empathic.
I relate to this on a spiritual level nasdkjg i main as whm and i always get so stressed cuz i end up in groups that just. do not. avoid. aoe's. and then suddenly i'm the bad guy even though i somehow manage to revive them and heal the tank while also throwing in some dps.. istg it's like you're a three in one package deal sometimes
And then, you have that annoying healer that does nothing but using Benefic II on the tank even if there was a unavoidable AoE, and both DPSs are dying. You try to be polite, suggesting them to use Aspected Helios, thinking that they must be new at healing, and getting a "death is a gift to you from me for being so annoying" comment when you die for lack of healing during a boss battle. Good healers being blammed for bad DPSs. Bad healers being praised for letting good DPSs die. I am done with this game :
And that one type of tank who thinks they're a dps or healing class... like please just keep the boss away from me and we'll be fine. That's all you need to do.
Rannvá Ihe It REALLY pisses me off those tanks (specially warriors) who do the whole run in their no-tank stance (deliverance, sword oath...), and, then, complain about DPSs taking agro. "Omg use Diversion/LucidDreaming, muh DPS" - Tanks, 2018
exactly! they're the ones who're supposed to take agro but if the DPSs end up taking agro that means the tank isn't doing their job? I get it if DPSs take agro for a while cuz they run ahead or something, but when the tank doesn't even TRY to do anything to take agro it's just... so frustrating.
I did leveling roulette late last night as healer hoping that I'd get something easy. Yeah no, I got Bardam's Mettle with 3 sprouts, and the tank's gear was 6 levels behind that of the dungeon yet they still pulled wall to wall. fml
I only give leeway when the server is acting up and everyone is like a second or two with delay. If its not that and you keep getting hit by the same mechanic, then you got some terrible tunnel vision. I did healer for fast queues but it ends up being a teaching lesson almost every other run.
As a newer healer main, I feel these struggles big time. I will say, however, that if tanks refuse to stand in soil or star, I legit rescue them into it. Zero fucks given. 😏
Listen, sometimes you just gotta pull us tanks where we need to be. Some of us have gotten so many concussions we can't think properly, and need a little help.
That's not bad I shouldn't gave up on healer if I was you just need a little practice ^^ plus you have the name of one of the best healer in the ff franchise ^^
I rather to slowly burn my enemies and make them scream of pain while I laugh maniatically at it using double critical-xenoglosies :) It's way more enjoyable than keeping people alive. But I'm a good person, I swear.
I had to let a tank die because he wasn't reading chat on the turtle guildhest. Felt bad but had to be done. We explained the mechanics after we finished though
I intentionally put together a synced extreme primal run, and a mentor scolded me saying I should just do it unsynced with an 80 😂 Like he doesn't know what it's like slogging through a hundred hours of content nobody wants to accompany you through, only to have people tell you to skip the exciting bits. Glad you had fun in your mentor roul though 👍
When i first started playing this game i was one of those tank who dont stay in the healer aoe, i got told for it and i got mad at him, well now i have learnt, sorry for putting you through that random healer on JP
I know this is off point for that video but dude... Use synastry when spamming GCD heals. It works in single target as well. Sorry bit tilted after seeing oh so many ASTs just ignoring the very existence of this cooldown.
As I said in the title of the video, I suck as a healer, and it is not my main ;-;. But I know of its existance. I just dont usually use it during a dungeon run (it is more usual to me to use it during solo healing trials or during bosses attacks, like Shinryuu akh morns, when both tanks share damage :
Nah it's cool and the video itself had good edits. Like I said my comment was quite off-point here but I just try to mention that whenever I feel like I might be heard; that's because 3-4 benefics in a row without synastry up is just a bit painful thing to see :p It's also especially important if you got to heal back LD without much help from a co-healer. Group actually seems fun, I personally prefer having people trying and failing than not even trying and staying miles away casting singletarget attacks at the pack of 15 mobs (yes RDM from today's expert I'm looking at you). And of all things you can see in mentor/trials stacking marker on niddy normal gets me every time. People don't really do that elsewhere that much, just this fight. Every time.
If you heal the same person you have the synastry buff on, they still get that percentage of the heal, and the normal heal. So it feels like using largess on whm, because your healing more. Not many people know this.
I main casters(max lvl and gear) but i still find tanks harder, idk but during boss mechanics, they just have to constantly stare at buffs/debuffs and MH/OH(depending on which tank u r)
Amber Fox maybe it is because I usually play with a main tank friend, and I am always asking him about it, but tanking for me is really easy and boring once you know the fight >
As a healer myself i know the struggle!!! Also what does the term mitigation mean? Ive heard it here and there but no ones ever explained it to me. Which sucks considering ive been a slave to this game fir 2 years now
mitigate : lessen the gravity of (an offense or mistake). meaning using abilities that either raise parry, defense or lowers the amount of damage a creature can inflict or the tank recieves. when you hear mitigation it just means popping defensive cooldown abilities. lack of mitigation is a noob tank who does nothing of the sort. these are particularly useful with bosses that have 'tank buster' abilities (as in abilities that will most likely kill a tank in a single hit if they arent geared or over geared enough for the encounter). either way, a tank that never uses their mitigation is a serious headache for healers because it just makes their life harder because more active healing and less sniping to help kill enemies.
As someone who has healed from ARR ((pre reworks)) and thru Shadowbringers when Endwalker came out and a friend asked that I heal the first dungeon I picked up my trusty cane and off we went. “Come out to thavnair they said. We’ll drink a few potions they said. It’ll be fun they said.” Oh how wrong they were. Sure keep the party alive. Use all the normal tricks . Everything was going fine for a blind run with a tank and reaper I didn’t know. My friend was on dancer. I was used to compensating for dps and tanks standing in things that were unhealthy to them. But the first and third boss fights……..mechanics never scared me. But those mechanics were literally trying to kill me. I’m used to dps and tanks trying to kill me with markers for aoes on them charging at me but the boss mechanics themselves. Somehow we survived… gear wrecked nerves destroyed and several rezzings later but we survived. After that I put down the cane and took up being a Omni crafter. (( for the rest of endwalker I played Redmage))
As a tank main and someone who plays multiple games and forgets content and mechanics often I appreciate when the healer is just willing to use rescue to pull my retarded self around like they are playing a tower defense game. I like tanking but if I don't look like I know what's going on, I need people to yell at me....just because I'm the tank doesn't mean I'm the leader.
As a bugger king you need to be teaching them not making shity video's not a word in chat to help. this is why mentors are the worst players i will take the new guy anyday over a bugger kings
I actually talked to them a lot during the run, and the sprout guy was doing mechanics all right (I bet they were an alter character), but I don't think that my mentoring jo b is relevant when I am only complaining about _myself_ being terrible at healing. I, also, asked them if I could use that run to make a video and they agreed, so I don't see a problem with it (and, as you can read in the description, I was not complaining about them, in fact, it was really fun to do that run with them ^^, I was complaining about _me_). I'm a bad high-end player, I don't have a problem adminiting that, but I know enough of the basics of each job and the mechanincs in general to help sprout people to start in the game, which is the "job" of mentors :P
@@meno2294 Well, yeah, this video is really old and it still gets tons of views, I don't really get it XD my others videos barely have 200-400 views LOL
In fact I did give some advices during that run. The funny thing is that the new one was the SMN and they did pretty well with their job and the mechanics. They didn't need any advice at all :P
i was playing dps (red mage) in copperbell hard and my healer wasn't even healing party member, for example when all member's health were 45%ish he didn't use aoe heal but regen and big attack was coming, spamming medica 2 when we have 90%ish health in result he got the aggro, when he got the aggro he didn't run to tank so the tank can take that aggro from him instead running in circle and died, so i ended up using my Erase skill every 30s to heal the tank while dpsing. (sorry my english is bad, i'm not native)
nathan wijaya I agree with healers doing dps if they know the fights and when the party/tank needs healing in order to survive. But some people only join as healers to enter faster into roulettes (I do the same, but I try to be a friendly healer and only do DPS when I can. Some people were complaining about me NOT DOING DPS as a healer!!!! Whatever I do is wrong!! And dont worry, your english is fine! I am not an english speaker, neither, and I could understand you perfectly -^^-
Exactly why i always commend healers, i dont play that class mostly cause i just stated the game but in my years of playing support in games like OW, league etc. healer is so difficult cause you have to look not only at the enemy but your unpredictable team. Shits not easy and I havent even played it, gonna be fun when i finally reach 70 for my sage.
I maxed out ninja, got the 2B glamour on my first try (thank god!), switched to white mage, i was used to healing on WoW, where it's the only thing you do, so when people started telling me i shouldn't be standing still if i'm not healing, i was like what? I have to focus on healing, do damage, stun mobs, and cover for other people's AOE mishaps? wtf is this .. I got to 73, almost 74, before i got absolutely bored of WHM
That's right, and healer dps is actually NEEDED for clearing high end content, which makes healing even more stressful: you have to mitigate tanks (which should be a tank thingee), you have to dps AND you must heal your team mate. You are actually 3 jobs in one >
I recently started playing healer, and I got BLM flashbacks after getting my bubble. Have had quite a few tanks pull a couple of packs, stop, and after I throw my bubble they decide they want to go bigger, so they run away. Also, sprinting right after a pull. Wait! I need to put my shields and everything!!!
I know this video is old by now, but I hope this message finds you well, my friend. :D Hopefully you've improved since then, but just in case you're still struggling with healing: Try worrying less about running Mentor roullettes as healer because others WILL expect you to know what you're doing. Instead, take the time to practice your healing whlie running lower level content, and work your way up the duty ladder level by level, not only using the increasing difficulties of duties to help you adjust better at healing rotations and surviving as a healer in general, but also getting used to each level of healing spell and ability and technique as you go, which will teach you how to move those new abilities into your existing rotations, while also helping you learn to adjust your rotatoins as you go along. Also, try running levequests and FATEs as healer if you're not used to healing in duties and dungeons, because those are usually straightforward enough battles that healing is only moderately as important since they are designed with the assumption that you might also be a tank or dps going in without healing support.
A lot of the things your brought up is why I don't main a healer and there's more as well for me like when tanks are in dps stance but can't keep aggro and don't switch back and forth. Or a tank that literally just makes the IL and pulls everything then says "lol gear sucks" etc It's hard being a healer in DF cause u wanna end up whack a moleing the tanks. That said as a RDM main I have had to raise and heal members in duties cause a WHM or SCH are DPSing and I'm just crying raises and vercures... Rant over but TBH if a tank is willing to listen or wait and learn then idc if he or she makes mistakes I'll keep them alive and praise them :)
yeah... skalla can be a bit PITA especially on that last pull before final boss, tanked tons of time here. My SCH however are pretty confident to support tanks, unless tanks really undergeared. lol However... for mentor roulettes, I'll be sticking to my DPS, tyvm. Learned very hard lesson queuing as tank/healer and landing on Sophia Ex. ^^;
I know this video is really old but I'm currently to a lot of players some people are starting to hate men towards more than anything this is something that needs to be recognized
My absolute favorite about the "I don't know what mitigation is but I'm pulling the whole thing" is when it's done in a leveling roulette. I remember having a paladin in Bardams Mettle pull the entirety of the first set of mobs, never once using mitigation or hell hallowed ground, then bitching at me for not keeping them alive. Bruh, no amount of Ess Dignity/Benefic II will outheal the damage you're taking.
You can pull of all of them being the tank, no matters how many of monsters they are. If the tank uses their CDs and the DPSs use their AoE skills, it shouldnt be a problem :) It is something very usual when doing the roulettes (especially the high level ones) to finish them faster.
I hate when they tank outside the healing circle. Maybe I can understand with that Astro spell cause it’s sometimes hard to see while keeping aggro and avoiding aoe with a big pull. But seriously, they avoid asylum too -_-
I know how it works :P but I always hold my right mouse buttom so I dont turn around by accident when casting/dpsing in those kind of mechanics, that's why.
i simply just spam regens and only do proper heals once someone is below 50% and when people are being stupid or bad i simply do my best to play badly intentionally since i have nothing better to do and have the patience to wait until they learn kek
I actually started playing XIV again a few months ago but this time as a WHM instead of a DRG. Needless to say I feel like I never get enough coms even when I'm PULLING THE ENTIRE PARTY. Even if I'm swiftcasting into a rez or medica 2, a wipe happens way too soon and I get the silent look. Like-- I'm doing the best I can I'm sorry :(
I really need to finish those maderville quests so i can do yajimbo and add this salt to my boring savage raiding potat life of always wiping on 9 since lockout was lifted
Try pulling as a tank, using every cooldown you have one after another till you have nothing left and even after all that time the adds are still alive cause DPS sucks that much.
a good healer just dps and heal aoe dmg
Rule #1 of being a healer: ......... "Its always your fault, you didn't adjust to stupid people"
Once you master that Rule, you will become the greatest Healer in any MMO.
@Heavyarms150 all I hear is Larryzaur (I hope I spelled that right) xD
"I can't outheal stupidity"
I've always seen healing as a thankless job and deeply appreciate those who do it and enjoy it, because I don't think I ever could. My commendations usually go to the healer or the tank for obvs reasons. I'm a DPS main and those guys are literally my make or break it (because I also suck at the game, so...)
To all healers: Ilu and respect you and ty for your patience and healing my dead ass.
lets be real, we're healers cause dps que times suck lol.
preach
Yes.
But also, healer is fun.
If I could post that meme with Morgan freeman in the space suit pointing up..... I totally would.
🤣🤣🤣
As a healer main, this is what I deal with especially the LET ME STAND OUTSIDE THE HEALING AOE part lol
yes especially if you play astro you can tell a good dps from a bad one really fast if they dont stand inside my earthly star you die seriously so tired of loosing gcds to extra heals
CRIES IN ASTROLOGIAN
As a defense, the healing aoe isn't shown if people have turned the effects off. Some fights are way too flashy with everything on and there isn't an option for specific spells
@@seralucii as someone who plays all roles no not true i always see star on the ground if ppl have every animation on maybe but thats an issue on their side they need to fix its a nono
@@alexmaganda5827 So glad they adjusted Earthly stars radius now, if a dps isn't inside it then they're not in dps range.
I REALLY want to try the new Sage because everyone is telling me is super fun job to play, but the only thing I want to do as I log into the game is burning things and/or chill while crafting :(
At least you got a com. For whatever reason, I can rock healing and get no coms, then eat a mechanic like a dork as dps and get two. :/
I receive more commendations as BLM and RDM than healing XDD I know your pain!
wtf you guys talking healers get almost every fuking single time all coms in any group ive been in its more frustrating as tank you do a perfect job as tank and no one cares all just com the healer even though tanking is the most boring job in the game you should automatically get alll coms as tank for playing such a boring class
Wait what?
I throw a com at the healer by default
Healers can pull an amazing DPS if tanks let them some breath space.
tanks that dont cd or pull like 2 of their best cds at the same time yep you can tell when someone has no clue how to tank properly
The tank did use cooldowns though.
I know, LOL,. It was a joke for those tanks who take big pulls without using CDs. This video is just a parody of what you can find on roulettes. As I said in the description, the run was actually pretty fun, I didn't even complain to them for anything ^^
Yeah just saying cause some people might get the wrong impression :p
I did like the video though ^^
cooliod00d I am glad you enjoyed it!
It's a mentor roulette, isn't not yelling at people assumed? I realize the video is a parody, but I think the video would have been better without the mentor aspect of it as I'm not sure I'd be upset with people in a mentor roulette fucking up as that's almost the entire point.
The funny thing was the fact that the "new" person (the summoner) during the run was the one who did the best performance :P
only healers can understand the humor of this
@@BladedBear Pretty sure it was actually just those 3 things
As a tank I do my utmost best to make my healer's job easier. And you'll always get my commendation.
You are a good person.
Few people knows it but if tanks knows how to mitigate then healers can output to almost 40% of blackmage damage and speed things up.
I main blm and was surprised how much damage i could do as whm if tanks mitigate and dps dodges aoes.
@@tats_sacs Yeah for sure. I was surprised just how often Healers could dps compared to other MMOs
@@tats_sacs I'm main BLM and my husband is main scholar and you would be surprised how similar our dps is when he doesnt have to heal xDDDD

As a lalafell it helps to raise the camera's axis height so you're not forced to stare at the floor all the time and miss things like the eye.
Correct me if I’m wrong here but during the (please mitigate lol nope) scenes I saw rampart and sentinel being used so? Wym
Maybe you can check the description of the video ;)
My only problems in mentor roulette is when you try and they don't listen, can't do much there but they'll get it one day, probably.
thank you for your service
Winston /salutes
I didn't notice this video was three years old up until you casted Protect.
I miss protect. Now, tanks just run ahead with sprint like they're in a dog race without giving me time to greet the party.
6 years from this vid and still is my favourite of ffxiv. Hope you are doing fine, Eiko!
Oh holy shit this hurt to watch. You brought back so much painful memories
Many years of playing a healer main in wow has made me already jaded when it comes to healing.... now it's a new flavor of salt when the tank says I'm not healing properly and I haven't seen a single mitigation proc'd.... NNNNRRREEEEEEEEEEEE
(That's is all thank you for my small healer main rant)
yessss!! the pain of a healer sometimes they don't leave anything. you just leave empty handed after almost drying your mp from them dyingxd
This video gave me anxiety I never knew I could ever produce
To be fair, I'm somehow constantly missing the giant red eyes as healer, because I'm too focused on my team/not always looking directly at the boss as I play.
And you don't need to. I usually focus target the boss, and if I see a slow moving bar, I pay attention to the mechanic, otherwise, keep doing your thing
Hi excuse me, can i ask why is your Party list having 3 bars per character in 0:41? What is that
That's and old ass thingee called "TP" (tech points), that was the melee's MP.
I cant stop laughing at the pepperroni player face planting the ground so meny times HAHAHA.. that was soo comical... they should of known better LOL
This hurts me in so different levels of existence
As somewhat of a relatively new GNB player I've always wondered how well I do with trying to manage midigation and stretching them out as much as I can to put less strain on the healer, but the commendations make me feel like I'm not doing to bad.
I suck as a healer too but trying to get better , this coming from a tank main. It's definitely a role reversal.
But when i do put the mentor crown on as a healer , i get in the mind set and role of a Death Mage which plays out like this.
Your not doing it right unless someone dies.
" why are you not healing us we are dying!!"
Because I am playing DEATH MAGE!!!!
Mitchell Grim I have a friend who is main scholar and he always says "I DPS because I like to make the healing difficult. If it is not difficult, it is boring" xD so he only heals us when Eos cant handle it anymore LOL!!
Eiko Kisaragi
Signs of a emerging Death Mage lol
Eos is the healer. The scholar is just the mediocre DPS that drags her along everywhere.
I'm a healer main and found this very entertaining :D
i love that youtube recommended this to me after thinking of leveling up new healing classes... nope im not doing it
This reminds me of my time playing the MMORPG: Perfect World International.
You'll be happy to know that nothing has changed.
my main question is, what's your glamour set :"3
This entire vid is a whole mood
😂 especially if you have the crown on your name.
that was honestly probably me i suck at everything lol
You don't need mentor roulette for that though, normal leveling roulette is completely sufficent. Especially fun if the tank decides to ignore you're "I'm undergeared" in the lvl 69 dungeon with 60er gear and you have an also undergeared AOE-lover on top of it. I think I let that dps die about three times in the whole run, whoops. To be fair I also used plenty of lilies and even benediction on him to keep him alive the rest of the time but the tank and myself take priority (there were also many raid wide, I actually managed to not stand in a single AOE myself that time)
Edit: I just realized I spelled die as dye and have no idea why xD
At least, in leveling roulette I don't have the responsability of wearing the mentor crown ;_;
@@Eiko_Kisaragi having the three healers at 80, 74 and 69 respectivly makes you seem just as competent xo

Don't give up. I'm the worst healer you can find in this game, trust me :P
@@Eiko_Kisaragi Press X to doubt
Healer is actually PvP content.
A friend of mine had this same problem. They now main the tank, since throwing the healing role aside.
Oh hey your bar setup was like mine was. Now mine is basically swapped because I'm more comfortable with damage on my first bar
As a newer healer main, I feel these struggles big time. I will say, however, that if tanks refuse to stand in soil or star, I legit rescue them into it. Zero fucks given. 😏
Only for them to walk away again, making you rethink your purpose in life..
Listen, sometimes you just gotta pull us tanks where we need to be. Some of us have gotten so many concussions we can't think properly, and need a little help.
Had a dungeon where the tank used no cds until I asked to see if they were using them the didn’t respond but did start using them
I'm 300 mentor runs deep.. and this is now my life any time I heal one lmao.
That's not bad I shouldn't gave up on healer if I was you just need a little practice ^^ plus you have the name of one of the best healer in the ff franchise ^^
I rather to slowly burn my enemies and make them scream of pain while I laugh maniatically at it using double critical-xenoglosies :)
It's way more enjoyable than keeping people alive.
But I'm a good person, I swear.
@@Eiko_Kisaragi I have no doubt that you are a good person 😅😅 but give the dps a little bit of mercy sometimes it won't hurt you know 🤣😂
The title applies is so me though. I am a mentor but I am absolutely awful at healing. So I never queue as healer if I can help it.
I had to let a tank die because he wasn't reading chat on the turtle guildhest. Felt bad but had to be done. We explained the mechanics after we finished though
Wish you can do rescue at that level. Would solve the problem, i’ll pull the damn tank to the herb if i could. 😂
I need to know this song and what mix it is!
You have a link to the original video of the song in the description!
i saw him pop rampart a few times and a few other cds it was that melle that was dying to much lol
I intentionally put together a synced extreme primal run, and a mentor scolded me saying I should just do it unsynced with an 80 😂
Like he doesn't know what it's like slogging through a hundred hours of content nobody wants to accompany you through, only to have people tell you to skip the exciting bits.

Like I said my comment was quite off-point here but I just try to mention that whenever I feel like I might be heard; that's because 3-4 benefics in a row without synastry up is just a bit painful thing to see :p
It's also especially important if you got to heal back LD without much help from a co-healer.
Being a healer means having the power over life and death!!
This is great haha. Exactly how I play a healer class as well 🤣
As a tank main and someone who plays multiple games and forgets content and mechanics often I appreciate when the healer is just willing to use rescue to pull my retarded self around like they are playing a tower defense game.
I actually talked to them a lot during the run, and the sprout guy was doing mechanics all right (I bet they were an alter character), but I don't think that my mentoring jo
b is relevant when I am only complaining about _myself_ being terrible at healing.
@@Eiko_Kisaragi
well it looks like im not the only one that thinks that way cus what you put in your disruptions. i do like the song tho :)
@@meno2294 Well, yeah, this video is really old and it still gets tons of views, I don't really get it XD my others videos barely have 200-400 views LOL
@@Eiko_Kisaragi well your a lala for one two the song 3 the editing is good alot better then mine lol i just get nervous lol
Isn't the point of the mentor roulette to tell them about those things though. I'm fairly new, so tell me if that's wrong.
In fact I did give some advices during that run. The funny thing is that the new one was the SMN and they did pretty well with their job and the mechanics. They didn't need any advice at all :P
@@Eiko_Kisaragi Oohh I see, thats nice
i was playing dps (red mage) in copperbell hard and my healer wasn't even healing party member, for example when all member's health were 45%ish he didn't use aoe heal but regen and big attack was coming, spamming medica 2 when we have 90%ish health in result he got the aggro, when he got the aggro he didn't run to tank so the tank can take that aggro from him instead running in circle and died, so i ended up using my Erase skill every 30s to heal the tank while dpsing.
I am not an english speaker, neither, and I could understand you perfectly -^^-
When you're a mentor in a game but can't play the game.
Every mentor literally had one in my group the other day his dps was lousy as sam i almost outpsed him on scholar smh and guess who died 😂
@@alexmaganda5827 lmfaoooo
I feel that I’m sorry you go threw that
Exactly why i always commend healers, i dont play that class mostly cause i just stated the game but in my years of playing support in games like OW, league etc. healer is so difficult cause you have to look not only at the enemy but your unpredictable team. Shits not easy and I havent even played it, gonna be fun when i finally reach 70 for my sage.
:) I just LOVE healing in every way. Normally in MMOs im DPS or Tank, i never liked Healing.
But FFXIV somehow gets me into it - and it gets me good!
THIS. FUCKING. FEEL.
Well at least the tank was using his stance
Hopefully you've improved since then, but just in case you're still struggling with healing: Try worrying less about running Mentor roullettes as healer because others WILL expect you to know what you're doing.
My guy, I did the last savage tier as a Sage.
@@Eiko_Kisaragi I don't think this guy watched the video lol
Very cute lala! :)
Thanky!
Rant over but TBH if a tank is willing to listen or wait and learn then idc if he or she makes mistakes I'll keep them alive and praise them :)
yeah... skalla can be a bit PITA especially on that last pull before final boss, tanked tons of time here. My SCH however are pretty confident to support tanks, unless tanks really undergeared. lol
However... for mentor roulettes, I'll be sticking to my DPS, tyvm. Learned very hard lesson queuing as tank/healer and landing on Sophia Ex. ^^;
Bobbin Threadbare try to join as a tank to Lakshmi. That's such a never ending fight of people not using Vril!! 105% fun everytime!
Why did you get aggro on all ads.. even if you walk past then they wont all go for you maybe 5 but not the 12x
But seriously, they avoid asylum too
-_-
And don't you hate when you place the scholar's bubble/astro's bubble and nobody goes inside? :P
Eiko Kisaragi and to add salt to injury they commonly stand RIGHT next to it all. They can’t be bothered taking one step
XDD they will lose their DPS! pffft!!!
have this video on loop, music catchy
Its called posin. Just listen to music that way
LOL. But look at all the fun you're having! XD
That's why I keep playing this game, because it's fun :P
Actually it's not you the problem except that you don't have to turn the camera to avoid the eye 😅 it's mostly other players faults.
Its safer holding the character with the camera...sometimes the hitboxes are really weird
I love your name and i love those characters.
You don't actually have to turn the camera away from evil eyes too xP character is enough
I know how it works :P but I always hold my right mouse buttom so I dont turn around by accident when casting/dpsing in those kind of mechanics, that's why.
Thanks for the funny video and for the amazing song.
gpkai you're very welcome!♡♡
i simply just spam regens and only do proper heals once someone is below 50% and when people are being stupid or bad i simply do my best to play badly intentionally since i have nothing better to do and have the patience to wait until they learn kek
