Hello, I have a e91 bmw estate the car sat for a year with being rarly started due to being in hospital.... The car started with a coolant leak I used coolant sealant and a month late the car goes into limp mode and its been a problem since I machanic computer read its a vvt problem. My question is, is it likely to be the motor or a sensor and how much should I be paying for the repair?? Can anyone help

I have a 2011 328I Sedan I bought run and drive from Auction. After starting the car, I ran perfect and as my brother and I left the lot, I kept hearing a high squeal and then the car started running and idling very rough as if it was going to shut off. I coded the car and Po52B, P164C. P1625, P1224 were all in the diagnostic. What I've done so far took it to a shop and they said I needed the Vanos solenoids. I replaced both Solenoids, both camshaft sensor , new NGK OEM plugs and coils also per misfire codes in diagnostic and I am currently waiting on the Valvetronic motor. The car at idle rocks so hard I feel like it's getting ready to quit BUT, anything above 1000 rpm's the car is in it's natural element... A Ultimate Driving Machine... Need help with this one... only 78K miles!

We have a 2010 e60 with the N52k. When the turn signal is on, you can not hear it blinking inside the car. It as been totally silenced by the previous owner. Did they silence it with INSTA p or with NCS expert? How do we turn up the volume on the turn signal blinker so we can hear it?

Two things I noticed on the video, is the E8 bolt you were struggling with on the bottom was put in the wrong way. Dont put the bolt back in like that. Also you didnt remove the 4mm Allen bolt on the rear of valve tronic motor. This bolt is used to put the motor into service mode manually so you can remove the motor from the car with out damaging anything.

You are correct, this guy is bull shitting don’t know what he is doing. To remove it you have to turn the hex screw back of actuator counter clock wise to release tension if you don’t do it it will damage the unit

The icon is a motor half shaded. Took it to the workshop and connected to de computer. It says errors 2a70, 2cf8 and 2d07. Related to the Valvetronic. I bouht a spare motor but I don't know if it will be enough. Any advice is very welcome 😊

It probably is the motor because I have around 120k miles, but I want to know if I need just the motor or the motor and harness or just the harness.
Whoever installed the E8 that holds the motor on the bottom side did it the wrong way it should be from outside facing the engine not from the engine facing out. installed it well for the future work.

I saw you guys didn't loosen the butt with a 4mm allen key, did this have any affect when putting it back into place ? I didn't loosen mine either and am kind of worried now when I took mine out I kind of pryed it off and I heard a pop am guessing from tension.
RitchieRich Yes, you need to use an allen key to remove the motor, and you need to do the same to install the new motor, carefully screw in the tip of the motor clock wise.
Would this solenoid leak oil? Because I'm looking at my engine (328i 2010) and it seems like there is oil coming from it. But it could also be my oil cap. Hopefully you see this

My mechanic changed the servo motor twice as I got the 28B4 and 2863 codes on my 2010 BMW 320i E90. This code just appeared again and I'm highly doubtful the servo motor has failed again. Would you know what could be causing this? Please help :-(

The valvetronic is constantly in use by the engine, when you push you gas pedal it will move the intake camshaft to open the valves and accelerate the engine... in a very complex system because the engine doesn’t use the throttle body to accelerate the engine!
Just hold on! This isn't right? Other videos I've checked they say you need to put the valvetronic motor in "service mode" by turning it clockwise, because it will snap, and can also damage your eccentric shaft sensor.... Soooo could you just take it out like that or not? Also, do you need to program/code it? Some says that you absolutely need to do and some says that it will learn again by it self??? :S
Sebastian Roca it’s very hard to diagnose it without the proper scanner, mine had the yellow engine icon on and it disappeared once I shut off the car. Code will be A038 I think 🤔

I was thinking the same thing.That had to suck getting it out the reverse way, I could barely get that bolt out the original way.
Will I be able to replace using this method on my BMW 328i f30 n20 engine as well? And where is that 4mm allen? And what about releasing the tension?

On cars with magnesium cam covers the lower bolt is in the orientation shown in the video.

the motor didn't require "unwinding" with hex at the back of it? it's under alot of tension right?

Just use your Autel they can do relearns on BMW in the DME module

You also need to relearn the eccentric shaft min max position with a scan tool any time the motor is removed.
I actually didn't use an Allen key and I didn't do the min/max position I just put in backing place it has been running just fine.

Yes but do not remove it the way this gentleman did, u must use a scanner to retract the motor or and allen key in a specific rotation

Drive the car. A failed VVT will give trigger a check engine light, as well as feel lack of power when driving.

Its not reverse torx, its e-torx
E46 is completely different it has no hex kust a plug on the rear of the motor
