  • Live performance of the brilliant jazz pianist Daniel Kramer at the Munich Piano Festival (Münchner Klaviersommer) 1997. Recorded by Philips for a Demo DVD (one of the first DVDs ever) as demonstration for MPEG Multichannel audio.
MPEG Multichannel hasn't succeeded as a widespread surround audio format. Instead, Dolby Digital (AC3) is the format widely used nowadays. MPEG Multichannel is only mandatory for European DVD players, and most players only decode it back to (stereo) PCM for digital S/PDIF output, as virtually no Home Theater Receiver can decode it.
Only a very small number of those demo discs were pressed and distributed by Philips, Eindhoven, and this wonderful performance of Daniel Kramer remained unbroadcast and undistributed since, which is a pity. With this upload, I want to preserve this recording and make it available to a larger audience for the pleasure of all of you. Watch out for the second piece in which Daniel Kramer over a long time only uses the left hand and plays it with virtuosity. Great!
Daniel Kramer (Daniil Kramer, Даниил Крамер) was born in 1960 in Kharkov, Ukraine and is a professor for Jazz Piano at Moscow National Conservatory today.
    Have fun!

Пианист в своей стихии, как птица в небе, как рыба в воде, ничего лишнего, ничего наносного, редкий случай настоящего джазовика. Каждый звук осмыслен, никакого мусора. Маэстро, браво!!!!!!!!!
