Out of 150+ RUclips channel subscriptions, yours is one of only two or three for which I’ve enabled full notifications. My day was immediately put on hold to watch. So glad to see you’re back and I’m eagerly anticipating more to come.
Hip hip, Hooray; Hip hip Hooray; Hip hip Hooray! Roger is back! I was thrilled to see junkming show up when I opened RUclips this evening. As many times as I've scrubbed my subscriptions I've never deleted Roger's, always hoping for his return. The world would be a much better place if more people would subscribe to Roger's philosophy. I'm certainly looking forward to what's coming next. Thank you Roger!
Oh, what a tease! A new build, of wood/epoxy, a modification of an existing design, and for exploration, not for staying at sea... Now I'm all agog to see what manner of vessel this will be.
Thank you! I’ve read all of your books to date in the Mingming series, in order, and part’s multiple times. I immediately opened your video to see what was afoot! Exciting to say the least. I’m a huge admirer of your talents and spirit. I plod along with my Junk Rigged Corribee 21 journey very much in the hopes of stepping lightly in the footprints you have already made through your life; and experience a taste of modest adventure. Well done!!
This video was the highlight of my week. Your books and videos have inspired me to start sailing. In fact in a lonely shed in Northern Germany stands my very own Achilles 24 triple keel ready to be stripped bare and to be modified as a junk! The dream of one day sailing her on an ocean is like nothing else! Enjoy the new build! Sound really exciting!
and just when we needed him the most... he returned! Jokes aside, you inspired me to get a sailing boat so many years ago with mingming ii. I have JUST purchased one. I am waiting for a tidal/weather window to get it home to the crouch and I am full of nerves and excitement. Thank you.
OH! Amazing! How glad to see you again! I read your first two books in Russian translation. Thanks for those books. I wish you good luck! And the continuation of this story. HOLD FAST )) (forgive my English - I write with a dictionary)))
Well, there you are! Great to see you back on our screens again, looking and sounding so well. I'm so looking forward to following your new adventures. Thank you for planning to share them with us all.

Roger, i was really afraid that you have evolved to another state. A very nice surprise to hear from you. I have sent this video to a a small group of sailors who understand very well what you are doing. Please keep a reminder to update all of us. We salute you sir. Can’t wait to hear more about Mingming III and watch the build process. You’re truly an inspiration! I love your books and videos. Thank you for sharing your journey with us!
Wow, what a surprise...currently reading your books and gaining lots of ideas and inspiration from them, Sir..including the goal of taking part in the Jester Challenge myself in the near-ish future :) Keep the adventures coming!
Looking forward to see your adventures constructing and sailing Mingming III! I assume it will be a 70ft catamaran with hot and cold running champagne like other sailing youtubers!
Glad to see you had some very interesting projects over those years ; I'am currently building a 7m junk sharpie, and you are one of my inspiration, as well as Hasler etc ...

Astounded ,,,when you said on the last video of the final voyage of mingming 2 that will be the last of sailing no more ,i thought noway thats the end of something extraordinary ,as the saying goes ,,you cant keep a good man down ,, a new chapter yes ,yes best news ever a wealth of knowledge and education for all interested in sailing , cant wait to find out what the new project will be .
I think of you and your sailing philosophies anytime i think of sailing. May have my first sailboat this year, a Westerly Nomad 22. So glad to see a new video from you! J
@@junkming Thanks, I chose that model because i fell in love with the bilge keel after learning about Mingming and also these old Westerlys are supposedly built like a tank. Very hard to find here in the Sates though.
As a retired coastal sailor, I have so enjoyed your narratives Roger, in waters I would hesitate venturing anywhere near. I love and admire your 'simple-sailor' philosophy and that further pleasures await us is just so appreciated and anticipated. Thank you!
That's good timing! I'm taking some time off this summer to dust off my poor neglected JR classic & you're just the inspiration a chap needs. Hamish H-S's Islands may get put to proper use at last. If you've half a mind to flit through your notes and sketches for this project please take this as encouragement. I love to see a plan come together, tea stained backs of envelopes and all.
What great news, Roger! I remember our long chat at the boat show about Achilles 24s when you had just bought Ming Ming 2, and the great talk you gave the A24 owners in Chris Butler’s presence at Mumbles YC. He wasn’t impressed by your design changes - how they were vindicated! Looking forward to the build, the future adventures, and reading the new books! Cheers, Rob
