To piggy back off this, the Micro Dark has no business sounding as good as it does for the price it is. Would love to see your review of that little lunchbox monster.
@@FuzzedDronesI have one. Make sure you plug it into a 1x12 or larger. I plugged it into a Marshall 4x12 and cranked it to max volume. Like the guy said, it sounds way better than it should. Plus it has an fx loop so you can add eq, delay, reverb etc. The orange 1x8 cab (that you usually see paired with these amps) is fun if you want a little rig to take with you on a trip, but it sounds small and kinda lo-fi
My introduction to Orange was getting a Micro Dark and having my jaw drop after plugging it into a Marshall 412... That led me to getting the Dark Terror, and now i own 6 different Orange amps and are amongst my favorite of all time now... You HAVE to plug it into a good 412 to truly experience that little beauty... And now i always tell beginners to get a Micro Dark first... Very cool to see this comment.
@@TheGorillafootyup. same here. running two of them through a ayb into a crate 4 12 bassman cab and a marshall 4 12 slant cab and it's INSANE the volume and tones i get running them together
I have a Micro Dark, this amp is a beast, even at 20 watts. This thing can take pedals like a champ. I mainly use it for recording, but I will connect it to my 2- 60 watt cabs to blast the house and the neighbors. I love the FX loop feature and the headphone jack.
I have a Micro Dark too, but still learning about it. If the Micro Dark output is 20 Watts, wouldn't connecting to 60 Watt Cabs make it sound just the same, not necessarily louder?
I've never been a great guitarist, and I'm an apartment player, so I've never actually bought myself any real amps. For years I used a Tech 21 Blonde or Tech 21 Oxford as DI to record, which was good enough for me to be happy with for making beats. Then I got a Two Notes M C.a.b. + that made everything sound even better. Still, it just felt like something was missing. I've 'upgraded' to a Joyo Meteor II (based on Orange) amp, and that really sounds better than any of the Tech 21 pedals I was using. Hopefully one day I'll get a real Orange amp. Maybe the Dark Terror, OR15, or AD30.
this is my second tube amp first time Harley Benton tube 15 but I wanted an amp that could make big modern sound and Doom and that accepts pedals well and frankly I'm not disappointed and all with a disconcerting simplicity but it's gotta take care of it
This is one of those amps that I want to love but I just can't. I had one and regrettably sold it. I say regrettably because it is a fine amp, loud and portable, and it could definitely be my go-to amp. But at the same time, I had no real use for it as I found it too dry and fizzy for modern metal and too heavy for hard rock/classic metal. The right boost AND the right cab can make it sing, but I couldn't find the right combo. Great video anyway :)
I have one and I agree with you, I just DON'T love it. I love high gain tones but I like building them from a clean channel. I'm not going to sell it, I'll come back to it when I get a good cab for it. Maybe I'll have a different opinion.
Ty for the video. I have the micro and with an eq and some other pedals on it I cannot figure out how this thing exists. How is the bigger brother for a band situation I hear it is loud.
Good video, I have to admit I always found the gain of the Dark Terror too fizzy for my taste. You should also try out a Boss OS2 for boosing an amp. It's basically a SD1 on steroids.
I have a micro dark but this thing sounds so much better and more beefy and also slightly more focused in the low end without a pedal. I'd get one but I don't have much use for another lunch box amp I'm trying to get more big amps 😂
How well does it take a Big Muff? I love the sound of a Big Muff into a slightly dirty amp, but each Orange amp I've had does not take them well at all.
I’ve found the best way to run muffs into dirty orange amps is to keep the gain/distortion/sustain knob low and run up the volume and tone to taste, kind of like when you run a tube screamer as a boost.
Orange Amps and pedals are always a hit and miss thing. I've yet to find one that is a good platform. A boost always works well, and then if you're happy with the Orange tone, you're set.
What's your opinion on the Dark Terror vs the Jim Root edition Dark Terror? Sounds like the biggest change was putting a 3 band EQ in place of the tone shape knob.
@@liamkoiter3356 jvm410h, 6505+, 5150 mostly. I know... can't really compare this 15w amp... a PRS MT15 is way better but quite a bit more expensive for this class of amp.

I really like the Orange amp, they have their own special character!
Exactly when you hear an Orange you know it’s an Orange .

Great sounding amp... really want to try one.
My favourite amp! I moved up from a Micro Dark and there was no looking back…
🤜🏼🤛🏻
Hell yea. I have this amp. Lots of great sounds out of it. Great demo / video.
Stoked you liked this one ! I love this little amp .
My buddy owns one and I am quite impressed!
I've been following you since you posted just videos playing pedals and amps with no narration! Glad to see you growing 🤘🏼
Well I really appreciate that a lot ! Glad you have stuck around this whole time 🙏🏼
I love my Dual Terror but might have to pick up one of these. Awesome demo as usual!

I have a Tiny Terror head that goes into a 1/12 Mesa cab. Been using this same setup for years.
I think I’ll upgrade.
Great amp. I want one.
For the price you can’t beat it .
i have the micro dark and i love it. i think it’s a cheaper mini version of this pretty much. i’m not a huge fan of the shape control tho tbh

Man I didn’t even know Harley Benton made amps . I’ll have to check those out .
They’ve just rereleased a limited run of the the dual dark…..I’d like to see you demo that and the OR30 which for me slays every other orange amp

I was running a clone of a rams head into it with the gain around 9 o clock and it worked very well . I honestly like the way this amp takes pedals

Never played the Jim root so I couldn’t really tell you . Sorry .
Hey man, quick question. I presumed you have played through a Super Crush 100, and if you have what are your thoughts on it?
I really liked the crush when I had one a few years back . Prob will end up getting another one again . Just because that amp sounded really good .
Where do you get that shell for the amp?? I need one
