During Ramadan, Malaysia transforms into a magical place, marking the holiest time for Muslims. They observe this month with prayers, spiritual introspection, charity, and fasting from dawn till dusk. To break the fast, vibrant open-air bazaars grace almost every neighborhood, offering tantalizing aromas of grilled lamb kebabs, laksa Johor, bubur, and nasi kerabu from afternoon till dusk.
TAMAN SURIA (GIANT SOUTHERN CITY)
Located on the outskirts of JB's kampung area and conveniently near KSL Mall and Mid Valley Mall Southkey, Taman Suria hosts a bustling Ramadan bazaar, often considered downtown's highlight. Nestled in an open lot by the Giant Southern City supermarket, the bazaar exudes a charming ambiance, though it's advisable to wear shoes, especially during rainy weather.
Remarkably, the bazaar springs to life as early as 2:30 PM on the first day of Ramadan, thanks to efficient organization and proactive vendors gearing up for the influx of visitors. This bazaar is a must-visit, eliminating the need to venture to Larkin. Additionally, one can catch glimpses of the Mid Valley Southkey towers from the bazaar. Travelers approaching from KSL can enjoy smooth access via Jalan Murni 8, bypassing the typically congested Tebrau Highway.
