Are those Haliade X-6 162 turbines? Direct driven Neodymium annular alternators? Have they run long enough to get an idea of capacity factor? You'll have to pardon me, but I'm a huge fan of renewable energy projects like this. Please, I WANT one of these in my back yard!😜😁🤣

why dont use floting wind like staoil uses

    forget about it
wind turbines of 100 megawatts. (there is no one of that size)
183,333,333 (number of wind turbines needed by the United States)
4 square kilometers. per turbine theoretical
733,333,332 square kilometers (the size of chile country)
5500 terawatts. only the current electricity consumption.
without counting the oil that the country needs ...

So at a couple times the cost of conventional power I now have a bunch of ugly windmills that will be navigational hazards once the subsidies disappear will these things stay running? Probably not also the state itself voted against these but they were shoved down our throat I am a lifelong Rhode Islander and not a fan

I have 2 of them less than a half mile from my house, I step out in my front yard and there they are, when the wind blows in a certain direction, these huge turbines emit a sound that fills my whole house. Not a fan of them, I have a large solar farm near me also, I'll take a solar farm anyday.

@@9945223 I don't think I'm ready to requisition land for photovoltaic just yet. They are so readily adaptable to existing structures, that I would like to exploit that first. That way, land that has already been developed can serve multiple purposes, with no further environmental impact. Turbines have to be on their own developed land, because you can't put a large enough turbine on your property, to out-perform a good photovoltaic array on your roof.

On block island was a nasa windturbine with 2 blades ( in the 80's)

I'm sure the residents of Block Island love seeing these huge metal structures out on the water...let's go for a walk on the beach and see these huge spinning blades where there used to be an unobstructed view of the ocean. PS : In case you're wondering...I'm being sarcastic. : ( I know we need alternative energy but at what cost?

I would love to see those huge turbines churn away, knowing that a single 5.2 second turn of the rotor, on just one of them, is enough to power your house for and entire 24 hour period. It would even be more fun for me if I could monitor the output in real time! I wonder if: "there's an app for that".

this was a fail.... had half the town tore up for 6 months, 3 months over schedule AND $20 million OVER BUDGET! had to rip up the intersection in my town 3 TIMES in a month because they ran the wrong pipe or something stupid like that!! had the electricity shut down to all businesses and homes.. no businesses open bcuz the water was shut off.... pathetic.. talk about shit show! traffic was grid locked all summer. and it's a major tourist town! why wait till summer to hold up the peak traffic season?!?!! meanwhile they f'ed up the roads even worse than they were! and they are terrible here to begin with! took 2 tries afterwards to correct them... I should say make them smooth not correct, they changed a very busy 2 lane road into a single lane!!!! WTF?!! brag all they want it was a fucking joke!! unbelievable!! don't have CARDI pave your roads! they are the biggest joke of a paving company out there.. sad cuz they always put the lowest bid on everything so they do a half ass job and this was yet another example.. 20m short of an estimate... cost 3 months over schedule to complete! ha! thanks for ruining our summer in RI!!
