As you said.. been using it for well over 10 years not a single problem yet.... running a 300 Watt transceiver 50W U\VHF transceiver 150WRMS x 4 car stereo amplifier and every other 12V device in my hamshack... Probably will stuff it with switch mode supplies if it ever croaks, but so far it's been holding out well for over a decade...
Switchers throw out too much hash over the HF bands, so for a Ham it is better to stick with the old linears. That said, I have one of these, they are not very good....

Only time it’s turned off is when a storm with a lot of lightning comes up and then I unhook everything.
I have one I run a connex 3300hp and a Texas Stare DX400 from it no problem ,

Yep,100 %,got 2 that gave up.took them to johnboy tenn builder and said not worth fixing.I m gonna gut them like u said fix them myself.
Mine won't even think about running a TS500 on high...
