I have a 87 and every time people see me in it they say it's wrong because it takes people to there final resting place it's just a car lol but I love it
I fell down the hearse rabbit hole on RUclips and clicked on your video. I was in awe at your helm tattoo. I have the same one in the same spot. I hit subscribe!
I've always wanted a Hearse like that. But I settled with a regular 1985 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser Station Wagon. Which is a 1980's GM wagon very similar to the 1990 Buick Hearse featured on your video. I've owned my wagon since 2010 and I still enjoy driving it.
Since 1983 I've had two hearses, a limo, and an ambulance. In order, they were a 1963 Superior hearse (with lots of issues), a 1974 Miller-Meteor ambulance with low mileage, that ran and drove like new, a 1970 Miller-Meteor hearse that was in decent shape, and a 1979 Cadillac factory limo. I do want another hearse, and would like it to be a Superior from the late 90s, when they were based on the Fleetwood chassis. I'm glad you mentioned the pronunciation at the end. That hearse vs. hurst thing was always a pet peeve of mine.
My friend & I drove his 70s Miller Meteor side loader from Iowa to California once. Never needed a hotel room; we threw an old futon mattress on the casket tray, and one of us would sleep while the other drove. It was a fun trip 😁
A thing to realize about hearses is it's very rare for even funeral homes to legitimately own one as they are such a specialty vehicle, they are not much useful for anything else but body transport. Most funeral homes, especially in the midwest, will lease hearses from a company and once their lease is up they can choose to continue leasing that particular coach or trade it in and get a different one. That, in turn, is more cost-effective for funeral homes as all repairs and maintenance are not burdened on them and those leasing companies will generally try to keep those hearses in good condition for as long as possible before selling them either second hand or even scraping them. So if you are to be looking into a hearse to buy your best bet is not to look at a second hand owner or even a funeral home but instead those leasing companies, you'll find that the hearses there are more of the value than if privately owned as most funeral homes will try to keep their hearse for as long as possible to get their investment out of it, which hearses last if not double what a normal car lasts as their use is very minimal.
I just bought my 2nd hearse. 1st was an 88 buick with a federal conversion. This one is an 01 Lincoln with a federal conversion. Had the buick for 9 years only did alternator and ac compressor Both were bought at a used hearse dealer in Cincinnati ohio. Cw coach sales
Thanks for the video. You put forth some realities about what to expect. I've had a 73 M/M Caddy for 7 years and it's been a labor of love to get it roadworthy but totally worth it. I'd have 10 of them if I could. It has mags on it and shabby paint, so it's not mistaken for an in service car like yours. Some people are horrified by it, others love it, you know the drill. Keep that old Buick looking good, it's a sharp ride. Oh BTW, that's a good hawk you're sporting. Rock on, hearse girl!
From what I've seen on videos, is that they actully take a full body car, cut it in half, extend the chassis. Use sheet metal and or fiberglass build out the body [ this would be the back half] . Put in a electric/roller[ing] table. Finish the interior and put on a vinyl top and finish the exterior [ trim, etc] and paint.
They only get about half a chassis from the car manufacturer, but pretty much, yes. Though not all hearses have an electric table, some like mine just have rollers (non electric).
I'm not interested in purchasing a hearse but I do find them very fascinating.... Especially the hearse parades where you can see all the various ways that folks decorate their hearses.... The most amazing hearse I ever saw was capable of shooting flames out of the rear of the hearse.... It's obvious that a lot of work and money went into the ones I saw.... I would like to say to all of you hearse enthusiasts to keep up the awesome work...
My Cadillac Hearse (Finally got one again, I'm so f*cking happy) has done 280000 km and it runs and drives better than any car (except for the other one I had) I owned before. The thing is, I'm waiting for something to break...because at the moment it's too good to be true.
I prefer the full size Buicks like you own. They are so much more rare and the parts availability is so much better than the Cadillacs. Funny you mentioned that people often gut them to use as a camping vehicle because they offer a ton of room in the back if converted properly.
Ah! I'm so glad you have the Ægishjalmur tattoo and not the made up Vegvisir one most everyone has and does not realize it's not a legit symbol. I'd get a hearse to convert into a roomy backseat cre cab truck/car since I'm tall and it'd probably be cheaper than stretching my truck cab to be more roomy.
If you get a pre 73 you avoid the smog motors and have a car that is way easier to work on and tend to be more reliable. They are definitely more stylish as well. They don't come up all that often but the search is part of the fun.
You're referring to emission testing, I was referring to when cars started to be produced with smog equipment from the factory. The start of the lower horsepower rage of the 70's and then later computer control. I like things simple. I always wanted to have a hearse as a daily driver. When I was 12 I use to walk past a 66 Cadillac on my way home from spending my allowance at the store. The closest I came was assembling a model of the Hauling Hearse that same year. Convert it to electric and then you could really sneak up on people and emissions are no longer an issue. They are great looking, unique rides.
Cool video! Thanks for posting that! I was just looking at a 1990 Cadillac hearse (no idea who the coach maker was) on Gateway Classic Cars , and then started searching RUclips for videos about hearses. What a cool ride!! I have to admit, I'm probably one of the ones who would pull the casket and roller box out of the back to install seats for at least 2 more, but then the majority of the back would be for my dogs (4 of 'em, French mastiff, pitbull, etc.). Station wagons or SUVs work, but nothing looks like that 1990 Caddy hearse!! Enjoy yours! :-)
This is great advice!!!!! I'm not sure if you're a purist so depending on that this comment may piss you off. My dream has always been to own an Ecto-1. However a 59 MM is super expensive (and also historically wise I kinda wouldn't wanna convert it) so I've looked at newer hearses and they are a steal. I found one for about 2300 and it's already white. So all I need to throw on it is a roof rack, light bar, and the no ghost logo. I've always wanted a hearse since I was a kid (I was a weird kid) but I hardly knew a thing about them except that they are dope. Thank you for this video
I have always wanted to get an older hearse maybe 70s or 80s preferably rwd, make a speaker box to look like an old school coffin. Maybe put high-rise intake on it with carburetors sticking up out of the hood.
@@skullarix That's GREAT! Dig: I'd like to get one myself, but driving in NYC would be kind of a drag. I may still consider it, though. Squares would say that I'm crazy, but I don't care...later for them. Thanks for replying. I appreciate it more than you know. Happy trails!!! 👍🚓🙏🏹♐

I have a business idea nobody has done. Rent the hearse as a unmarked "security vehicle" (aka theft deterrent) that people can rent to put it outside their home or business to scare away burglars/criminals. Or have people call you to park in the lot when they're working late to keep criminals away. Charge 'em $30 for a minimun 3 hour block of time for this service. What do you think?
Idk, not sure it would keep criminals away LOL... I didn't think anyone would steal a hearse, yet people do. Maybe if you were in a particularly superstitions neighborhood?
I'd have one of those digital game callers with a remote that has animal sounds such as wolves howling, bears growling, etc. When someone suspicious approaches, trigger the sounds coming from the hearse! Plus, you can add your own sound samples such as people/children laughing, doors creaking.....A good digital, portable game caller w/battery operated remote will run about $500 dollars. Pricey, but worth it.
Did you ever get one with stank in it? I mean, you just can't get the stank of death out of it. I bought 1 once for $500 and it was mint to look at till you got around 20feet away and whew! I asked him why he didn't detail it and he said he did...three times. Turns out it was used to transport a body with severe decomp. However there was a problem with getting the proper paperwork for the cremation and the body was stored for the better part of 3 weeks
Haven't checked the funeral homes yet, but it seems like every time I find one that's within my grasp it gets bought up. Lol, thanks for all the advice though.

Yep I want the limo sort of deal and I have seen them very badly I mechanically inclined but I can't do shit for upholstery so I'm going to have to get someone else to do that LOL
One thing I've noticed about all the hearses I've seen is that they're cheap and all seem to have very low mileage. You mentioned that people have told you that that is a bad thing? Could you elaborate on that a bit if possible?
My son just turned 16, we just bought his hearse today. 91 buick roadmaster (eureka) 5.7, super clean, 31k miles White, nave int. 2,700.00 Btw, any idea where to look for 2 more window curtains, it only has the rear.
Can I live in a hearse? I could sleep in a comfy coffin, have a miniature kitchen in there, have a small tv for entrainment, and travel the country as If it's some sort of RV.
I'm not sure what you are asking but we have a truck, a jeep, a classic cadi and then the hearse. The hearse has been my daily driver. I could also just keep it and drive it on Halloween, but what fun would that be?
I did a follow up on this video called "so now you have the hearse" where I talk about insurance and smog. I didn't really have trouble getting coverage, but I have heard of other people having problems, it depends on your state. Be sure to insure it as a "hearse" not a station wagon. If you get in a wreck and they think you have a station wagon insurance won't pay out. Smog? Well, it's as hard as getting a 28 year old car to pass...
Insurance can be awkward, and some companies are better at it than others. State Farm is usually pretty good, once you convince them it's not in service any more. Other companies might require you to get a commercial policy. Hagerty is another option to try, but they only insure cars >25 years old
Yeah I probably should have known that, okay one more thing, I’ve seen in a few hearses that they have name plates in the windows, where did you get yours?
John, if the hair, body piercings, and tattoos weren't enough of a cry for attention she bought a hearse to drive around to make sure she got her attention needs met. Rather sad but it takes all types to make the world go around right...
I have a 87 and every time people see me in it they say it's wrong because it takes people to there final resting place it's just a car lol but I love it
I'm buying an 87 this weekend. Claims it has no rust and 56k original miles. Needs a little work but its running and driving. Here's hoping!
Same here
@@ZekeGraal did you get it

Exactly, if they don't feel comfortable buying one that's okay. But don't tell me it's wrong to buy a vehicle.

I have a question am 15 getting 16 and me and my dad are planning on buying one could I use it as a daily driver (school and back)
Hi, it depends on the age and condition of the vehicle. I've used mine as a daily driver. It's just like any other used car ;)
My son just turned 16, we just bought his hearse today.
91 buick roadmaster (eureka)
5.7, super clean, 31k miles
White, nave int.
2,700.00
Btw, any idea where to look for 2 more window curtains, it only has the rear.
If I were ever to buy a hearse, it would be a 2012 Cadillac
Didn’t Diamond Head carry their gear in a hearse?
Can I live in a hearse? I could sleep in a comfy coffin, have a miniature kitchen in there, have a small tv for entrainment, and travel the country as If it's some sort of RV.
Im actually looking to get a hearse for my first car.
I think it would look cool if some one built a hearse from a Ford F-150
This Veteran did: www.ford-trucks.com/articles/veteran-uses-f150-unique-military-hearse/
Can you drive a car just as a normal car and just own one to use for Halloween 🎃 and just to drive
I'm not sure what you are asking but we have a truck, a jeep, a classic cadi and then the hearse. The hearse has been my daily driver. I could also just keep it and drive it on Halloween, but what fun would that be?
so how can i reinshure my and use it like a limo and to instacart and live in it . ever company tells me know
I like calling them coaches because they resemble the horse-drawn coaches of yesteryear.
i love you, im stoked!
You won't get a better looked after vehicle for sure.
BTW: I subscribed! Peace! 💓
want a Hearse? Because I am in music company Perry soon I am a electric drum set can't fix in my sports cars
I love your hair. And, this helped convince me to NOT(!!!) buy a hearse. Thank you:)
Dude!
they are full time MONEY PITZ - bit vool as anything coz my friend used one to move his kit around as a DJ which is what I Am also.....
as a DJ
I bet that's Really Useful, Besides being used for Dead people. Am just thinking of the Unlltey of one.
Is it hard too get auto insurance policy? How hard is it too get it smog? Thank you!
Here's the link to the other video: ruclips.net/video/6I32aFtvMYg/видео.html
I did watch that other video! Thanks!
Insurance can be awkward, and some companies are better at it than others. State Farm is usually pretty good, once you convince them it's not in service any more. Other companies might require you to get a commercial policy. Hagerty is another option to try, but they only insure cars >25 years old
Nice hair :)
I wanna live in a hearse.
I like your hair
Help me please
How may I be of service?
Is it a real casket or a plastic one? Sorry just wanted to know I don’t see why you would buy a REAL casket. So just wonderin
It's a real casket, made of wood. Why wouldn't I buy a real casket for a real hearse?
Yeah I probably should have known that, okay one more thing, I’ve seen in a few hearses that they have name plates in the windows, where did you get yours?
@@lexhargrove You can get then at www.namesunlimitedcorp.com/Articles.asp?ID=252&fbclid=IwAR1tCW08N6T-EDO9Ymlxe1ivGze7VTA0g73j3JXuOcQdInqNML2cA6zbHhY
Nope!
i think im gonna be sick just looking at the beast
That hair is a desperate cry for attention
I guess it worked, you left a comment....
John, if the hair, body piercings, and tattoos weren't enough of a cry for attention she bought a hearse to drive around to make sure she got her attention needs met. Rather sad but it takes all types to make the world go around right...
What a couple of dicks
I like weirdos, I'm one myself, but in a different way.......
John Jerkoffskie Maybe she just reserves the right to be herself. Only dead fish swim with the current.
The 1980's want you back.
