Yes, that's quite a few alternative choices for one town. Excellent idea for a video, and well worth the trouble and time to upload. Your doing good! Cheers!
hey thank you for posting this. it certainly has change over there from what i can remember 15 years ago. and im about to hit calbayog city in 3 weeks. visiting about 600 cousins and more cousins...lol.. no place else like home. thanks australian filipino here
I like the park& go bread and Chowking is always a favourite. There used to be a little restaurant boat just by the bridge. It was a great idea but too close to the fish port to make eating there pleasant. All of Samar is growing fast
Hi Randy, it's been a number of years since I've visited Calbayog. Watching your video I'm surprised to see far more choices of places to dine out. With all these new restaurants that have sprung up, and new hotels being built, it must mean the population of expats has increased in and around Calbayog and/or tourism is on the rise. Do you have any idea what the current population is of foreigners living in and around Calbayog?
Calbayog has seemed to explode over the last three years with new construction happening everywhere. I personally know of around 25 expats here in the Calbayog City area, but estimates from the local BI folks here say upwards of a couple hundred in Samar Province.
REBELITOS halo-halo is my fav since 1970's when I was still living in Calbayog. As a kid I cannot afford to eat halo2 bcoz its expensive, so every year from elementary to highschool, I always study hard bcoz at the end of school year if I become an honor student and get a ribbon/medal from our class, my late dad always give us a reward for studying hard, by treating us to Rebelitaos halo2....its just a simple joy but for a small kid, that was a big deal. Since then , every time I went back to Calbayog for a vacation. I always eat Rebelitos halo2 for the sake of happy childhood memories .. :-)
during my childhood time in 1970's. in Calbayog , I think there are only 5 restaurants and Rebelitos is the only one that serves cold treat a halo2 a kids favorite...its comparable to kids favorite today the Jolllibee. In elementary I have to save school snack allowance for a week just to save and buy a Rebelitos halo2...bcoz my daily snack allowance is only 25 cents and halo2 cost around 1 peso and 50 cents ...hehe Calbayog fiesta Sept 8 I will go back there just to eat Rebelitos halo2. :-)
haha that would be great.....anyways, If you visit Calbayog...try Rebeletos halo2 its much better than Chowking halo2.....the difference is Rebelitos halo2 have sweet mongo beans, this recipe has never been change since 1970's....and that distinct taste I always miss and craving for...hehe :-)
377499 My wife tried to train the Bo's staff to make her coffee half-strength but she could never get it to sink in. They look at he like she is a bit off!
@@livinginthepacific I should have phrased it as a question. I am planning on heading out there when I get to the Philippines. Something about that area has been calling me for years.
Seafood here can be purchased off the boat or at the market. Some of the large catch fish such as Yellow Fin Tuna, and other larger game fish can be up to 5 days old by the time it reaches market. Large fish catches are usually imported from Gensan City or other points to our south and are delivered on ice. Smaller fish species, crab, and squid are usually locally caught and are fresh daily.
Up early this morning because we have an LPA area to our east and we are getting hit with heavy rains. Had to get up to check out the latest satellite picture. No worries though, I did go back to bed! lol
I have also suffered from tainted food in the U.S., and on several occasions. It seems I am better off here because they cook the crap out of everything just to be certain! he he
Nice channel and videos. Been watching you're vlogs. Guam and Philippines. Great show and information.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time to show all these places. I never would have figured there was such a diverse selection in your place.
We could use a few more. When the new Gaisano mall opens soon there will be more choices, I'm sure.
Some of the places look very modern and stylish and just shows what a modern growing city you have there. Enjoyable vid
It's not Manila, but they sure try hard! lol

We've tried most all of them. Some good, some not so good. Thanks for watching!

I like those bakeries too. Calbayog is growing almost too fast!
There was a lot to choose from, looked nice. Are there vegetarian meals / restaurants?
Only one! The Veggie Cafe at the Sanitarium Hospital.
Retired in Samar Okey thanks!

What a wonderful memory. Maybe you can come back soon for your favorite halo-halo! Thanks for watching.

Good, because I don't like Chowking!
NAKAKAMISS!!
😎
Where do you get hip background music like that? I've wondered about this on other blog sites as well.
Scour the internet for royalty free music. RUclips also has a good collection of free music.
You can find some royalty free music here: freemusicarchive.org/ and opensourcemusic.com/.
Thanks John!
Gotta love Bo's Coffee. Spent many a morning there in Cebu City. Wonderful coffee, at least if the quality is across the board as I assume it is.
I like it, but the wife says it's too strong. :/
Yeah, my wife likes her coffee with 3 tsp sugar and 4 Oz cream!

My wife tried to train the Bo's staff to make her coffee half-strength but she could never get it to sink in. They look at he like she is a bit off!
That does not leave much room for the coffee! LOL
You're right!
Patrick's looks interesting. Pizza, burgers and fried chicken. That's the 3 main food groups isn't it?
As far as sanity is concerned, yes! Thanks for watching.
I love the buffets.
Ha, this is an old video... way before any buffets.
@@livinginthepacific I should have phrased it as a question. I am planning on heading out there when I get to the Philippines. Something about that area has been calling me for years.
wow the Patrick pizza sign,is a knock off of the pizza pizza store in the Toronto area lol
I'm sure there are many knock-offs here. And you don't even have to look that hard! he he
looks good to me.
😎
Hows the seafood there?

Business is busy there. How's Bo's coffee franchise!!
Bo's is okay but a little expensive. Sad thing about being a coffee house here, they don't open until 9am most days!
+Retired in Samar, i see you are up early, it's a lay back place
Up early this morning because we have an LPA area to our east and we are getting hit with heavy rains. Had to get up to check out the latest satellite picture. No worries though, I did go back to bed! lol
I only eat food prepared by my wife. I had food poisoning from q Thai restaurant in MAnila, and nearly died. Food hygiene has not reached Phill yet.
My wife loves to cook and we eat at home a lot too. I've never been poisoned here yet though. Mexico, yes!
Food poisoning can be everywhere. Even here in the states I've experienced it too.......so don't let your ignorance fool you.
Street smarts and common sense gets me by most times.
I have also suffered from tainted food in the U.S., and on several occasions. It seems I am better off here because they cook the crap out of everything just to be certain! he he
Geoff Langley yes .any places leave foodd exposed for flies to land all over id eat at places like jollibee and kfc but never at a small eatery
where is Vilmas kitchen?
This video is several years old already. I'm not even sure Vilma's was open. Not all restos are included and there are now many new ones.
Maganda sana dyan kaso nakakatakot namn maraming patayan nagaganap
🤔
I bet you will get the trots if you eat anywhere in Samar...they have to lock-up the aircon condensers too...pathetic!
Not quite sure what you mean by "trots" or "lock-up the aircon..."
