As a species we have learned tactics from every species we've encountered. When we meet new species, we will adopt their tactics as well. Not to mention, we love battle. We will not go down quietly.
I feel like there are some lessons from the Art of War to be given here.
1. "Maintain flexibility and adapt to changing circumstances."
2. "Unity, not size or individual talent, is the key driver of an army’s success."
3. "Hide your intentions. Do not become predictable."
4. "Be irregular."
It's hard to combat a species with multiple books dedicated solely to warfare, especially books written by people who spent their lives perfecting combat tactics.
What I got from point 4 was to have no form so the enemy can not predict what you will do
I remember going to Space West Point with Cadet Forecast.
The instructors instructed us with instructive instructions but one thing they never could do is spell his name correctly.
