This is the exact reason why I chose the dual pin. I have them set for 20-30. If I need to go further, I can roll down, if need be and my sight housing isn't clogged with pins.
I have a 5 pin sight but I have set up only two pins and stacked the rest to the bottom. I could pull them out completely but it doesn't bother me that they are down there.
The thing is, especially when shooting from a tree, you are going to fire more along the gravity. This makes the relative drop less, so those 20 and 30 yard pins are going to carry a lot bigger distance.
Even if you could hit with a 40 yard pin from the tree it's not worth it as the animal has time to move and react so things are not in the same place when the arrow lands.

Just get out there. That’s exactly right. I started bow hunting before I could even drive. I’m 56 now. Just get out there, make some mistakes, and have fun. Laugh about those mistakes as you tell your stories to your friends. There will be success along the way as well.
