@@studas2011 no there's been a mass exodus from NY since before Covid - that just made it worse. Main reason is the pricing. In NY, you're lucky to find a 1BR POS appt or a studio for under $2K. That's not even considering the property tax (usually about 10x more than other states). Now with this bail reform and criminals being released same day, it's rly becoming a problem. I'm out on Long Island most of the time and it's a little better out here but same story. Even in the nicest areas you'll get approached by a homeless guy asking for $$ or a criminal looking to scam/rob u. What happens is, NYC adopts whatever policies Cali starts. Then, the counties usually follow along soon after. So even if u live in a nice area, out of NYC, u still deal with the same BS as living in NYC.

I live upstate from NYC - so I visit every couple months. Never really felt unsafe walking anywhere at night. For all of the people talking about danger and whatever, if you are minding your own business, 90% of the people you pass are cool. Granted, I'm a big guy. That probably plays a role. I still remember one time, years ago, when I wasi n the city for a work-related conference and hit the town during a heatwave. One of my first times staying in the city. Was in a tank top - tattoos all out. It was back when I had a short mohawk. I had some of the paranoid thoughts I see in these comments, and instead, I had people crossing the street or looking nervous when I walked by. Complete opposite of what I had expected. I was the 'sketchy' guy lmao
Fr, I know the exact part of harlem hes walking through and have been there many times at night. Never really felt like there way any danger. The people there are all just minding their own business for the most part. Though I will admit, the whole place is quite dirty and I wish there was more pride in keeping it looking nice. The litter is definitely adding to the bad vibes people perceive for the area.
I feel like a lot of these comments have a racialized and classist element to them as well. For some reason because it's all black and poor people they're seeing in the video this seems more dangerous than it is. We know that NYC has some pretty low crime rates, but everyone thinks it's full of crime. I'm sure all the propaganda in the news doesn't help.
the fact that 1/10 people you pass AREN'T cool is pretty scary, especially considering how easy it is to obtain lethal weapons like a gun. As a European, I could never live here.
@@looloo1732 neither could i, as a European too. While i truly love NYC, it's like my favorite city in the world aesthetics wise i wouldn't wanna live there unless it's Manhattan or gentrified Brooklyn (so basically unless i'm a millionaire). When it comes to beautiful, historic metropolises i would take London or Paris any day of the week over NYC, at least as an average person. Though that doesn't mean that hillbilly Bumfuck, Texas is somehow good just because NYC has awful neighborhoods. It's literally the same dangers minus the vibe.
I lived there in the 90s. I was about 10 years old. Every night mom and I would buy dad a six pack and meet him at the subway station. Scared me half to death. Ill never forget the smell.
This is so heartbreaking, and I know many of these folks are good people just trying to get by. NYC is so expensive to live in, with all that tax money you think they could do a better job with housing, cleaning up the streets, etc.

It's sad the way people just stand around and don't do anything with there life.
Poor mental health
Yes, especially when it's your children's father. They think it's 😎
You picked him! 😆
Honestly reminds me of some of the walks I have in my hometown at night. It's no where near as populated but feels like a weird ghost town.
Would be interesting to see what kind of camera you use and how it is positioned/disguised as you walk down these hoods! 😂PS. First video/new subbie 👍
@5:15
"Can you help me out with 2 bucks? I would be grateful..."
C-Bo: "Ion got it right now"
Next scene: *HELLA POCKET CHANGE* 🤣
People are just cowards. Cities in Red States have much higher crime rates.
This 4k quality is awesome.
brodie walking all up through Long island city projects 😂😂😂 wildin
idk why but when I went, the rain plus the old grey buildings made it feel so Gotham or Dystopian like and I loved it lol.
I lived there in the 90s. I was about 10 years old. Every night mom and I would buy dad a six pack and meet him at the subway station. Scared me half to death. Ill never forget the smell.
Good video Charlie Be Safe in these places and keep up the good work much love Happy Halloween to all ❤️🩹
9:56 bro just casually jumps the gate like it's nothing lol
This is so heartbreaking, and I know many of these folks are good people just trying to get by. NYC is so expensive to live in, with all that tax money you think they could do a better job with housing, cleaning up the streets, etc.
Isn't it amazing that we also had enough "extra money for us to take busloads of people from Texas as well 😂🙄
How about the community keeping the place clean instead of littering and spray painting?
@@adamclark9004 we do try but sadly not everyone is on board. You have the 75% a the city who works hard, keeps a job, a nice clean home etc but you always have that 25% or whatever that's lawless, don't wanna work etc 🤷 not exact figures, just my guestimation
@@adamclark9004 Black people
@@adamclark9004we've seen the news okay we've seen all of the mugshots of the Predator Rings busted every week, your people are no better. 😅😅😅😅😅😅 Graffiti? Really? I hate littering as much as any decent person but you people just want to make racist comments, we've seen your meth infested trailer parks in your dismal coal miner towns your people are no better
Walk through Baton Rouge at night
How about Mogadishu?
Baton rouge don't have no open places you can walk unless it's downtown and that's not dangerous at all.
As a citizen of New York I'm still terrified
Why?
@@fatrat6988black ppl
You definitely brave 🙌🏼💙🙏🏼
We need more of these nyc hood night walks my man
Terrifying. My anxiety was through the roof just watching it here from the comfort of my house.

Much respect from Denver CO
I would say meet up with ActionKid while you're here but I think he might be in Canada, from his vids. Dude knows the city like nobody else.
None of this is intimidating if you've lived in a big city. This is what big city life is like. You're sheltered if all you're used to is suburbs and strip malls.
2:30 get down Playa!
nice vid, hope your leg gets better!
Man the amount of people u see just standing around doing nothing is crazy, this city is depressing
Lmao at 3:33 the old man dancing to g herbo

That $2 was bout to get you sum head Charlie 😂
If you did not end up in this city...., ...you have achieved something................keep going !!
Not bad at all. Greetings from the Southside of Chicago.
New York in 70s 80s and 90s way more gangster than Chicago is now and before the hood parts of New York ain’t that big compared to the rest of the city Chicago ain’t never seen 2500 murders in one year Brooklyn alone back then average over 1200 homicides not counting all the people who went missing not the whole Brooklyn just the hood parts Brooklyn
Raw Video, I Love it!
This look like a regular ny night, people so dam scary 😂😂😂😂
NYC. Hard to believe that only a few dozen feet above those streets live people the polar economic opposites of those on the street that can afford to pay $5K/mo for a 400 sq foot apt
I really like how everyone is having a great time... then grown ups get up in the morning to clean up and make the beds
The guy dancing at 2:32 is a vibe
This shit was therapeutic 😭
У Чарли видать проблема с левой ногой.Впервые вижу его двигающимся.
Хромой по ходу. Зато может себе позволить с камерой по вечернему городу походить.
🤨
These streets make me feel lost. Paranoia!
Life's hard for some people. Respect ✌🏼
