      Cheers Graham, I've used the tracing paper idea on my last 3 projects,once you get used to not touching the tablet screen ,it works fine.

    If you go to the hardware store and buy a brass brush. Not the heavy ones but rather the softer ones. They work perfectly for getting the fuzzys knocked off.

    Are they just fence boards you've sanded? What's the thickness of the panel? Fred Flintsone is one I am eager to try, brilliant and well done!

    • @fishtank5050
      @fishtank5050  2 года назад +1

      Thank you Gaz,yes just cheap rough fencing wood it sands up really nice ..they can vary in thickness, but ideal for the job. 😁👍

    Love your videos and techniques, can you recommend a good program for resizing ready for printing? Thanks

    • @fishtank5050
      @fishtank5050  3 года назад +1

      Thank you Chris, on my bigger projects I use a online site called rasterbator, you can print templates up to a 1000 a4 sheets,big enough for you 😁👍

  • @peterwhitehead34
    @peterwhitehead34 3 года назад +1

    Another great project nicely done. Good tip to trace the template, it does work I've done it before as I seem to struggle with the poster apps, yet to master it that way, must be an age thing 😊. Tried an age to print out the gnome you did but failed miserably 😂. Is the fence wood you use treated ? It's all treated that dark brown in my area.

    • @fishtank5050
      @fishtank5050  3 года назад

      Cheers Peter, the templates are a perfect size ,for the fencing wood I use, definitely an option on simple projects..

    liking the different technique with the iPad, I suppose you got to be careful and not press too hard with a sharp pencil??
    👍👍

    • @fishtank5050
      @fishtank5050  3 года назад +1

      Cheers Colin ,no issues with a pencil, the hardest bit is keeping your hand off the screen and stopping it from zooming in,definitely another option for the ones that don't have a printer ..

    When removing background material, which do you find works better: End milling bits or upcut bits?

    • @fishtank5050
      @fishtank5050  3 года назад

      To be honest Robert I've only used end mill or straight flush bits for clear out..alot of folk use spiral upcuts..

    another great project Shane. a quick question. do you water down the paints before using them?

    • @fishtank5050
      @fishtank5050  3 года назад +2

      Thank you Joe, I always water the paints down as I paint, it makes more of a stain then a paint...works well.

    • @ahmelmahay
      @ahmelmahay 3 года назад +1

      @@fishtank5050 cool i didnt water mine down and i noticed that you can see strokes on it cos its too gooie so im gonna water my paints down from now on

    • @fishtank5050
      @fishtank5050  3 года назад +1

      @@ahmelmahay the paints are definitely better for watering down,it leaves a nice smooth finish,even better when the finish goes on..
