I've been on the Borman when I was on a college field trip to witness this mayhem of traffic jams ; they were more semis than cars on this expressway. This wall of trucks levels the congestion too feeling like a dwarf while driving. The Borman must be a popular route for over the road truckers which makes it like a truck parking lot.
I've heard that parts of New Jersey are worse as urban expressway scenes, but the Borman Expressway is the first part of America to show people if I wanted to show how nasty America can be from the road. It has lots of ads for "Professional Body Removal" (yes, removal of dead HUMAN bodies -- Gary, Indiana is the scariest city in America ) "strip clubs", and some dealer in fireworks who "must be insane". Human life seems to be very expendable in those parts. I have to go through there to get from southern Michigan to points to the north and west of Chicago. Going to or from the southwest I prefer going through Greater Indianapolis, and not for avoiding toll routes or Chicagoland traffic. Going through on I-90 I see the urban wreck that is Gary and Hammond.
Well, it's somewhat better from the days when we all had to stop every few miles and throw a couple of quarters in the basket. I came up I-55 from St. Louis to Bloomington, bought an I-Pass at a Jewel-Osco, registered it when I got home, then when I was ready to go to Chicago, the I-Pass worked like a charm. It also worked all along the toll roads to New York, Boston, Philly and Washington, even into Canada. Almost a necessity if you live up there. It's worse now.
16:29 That Jeep should not drive on the shoulder of the tollway. 16:35 Uh oh, here comes that Ford Explorer which is a police car of Cook County Sheriff's Office.
I'll say this again that the Tri-State Tollway is Illinois busiest tollway. The I-94 portion is in Lake County, IL while I-294 is entirely in Cook County, IL.
At the end of this video, you were trying to stay on I-80 to get to the Kingery and Borman Expwys, but traffic heading for Northwest Indiana was so bad and you decided to head back to Chicago by taking westbound I-94/Bishop Ford Fwy instead. In an alternate universe, if traffic was smooth, you should've ended the video after crossing the state line.
Did you hear the news about the completion of the reconstruction of the Jane Bryne Interchange a few days ago? Traffic in downtown has been reduced and ramps have been reconfigured.
The Tollway will never be complete. I all my year, I have never driven that road where that has not been a lane expansion. If I go to Chicago from the south, I take US-30 to La Grange Rd to and then to I-355 to go north. Even when the 290 to 88 interchange is completed, it will be inadequate.
@@tinapalermo3768 "394" suggests Danville, but that would be I-61 probably to Terre Haute and Evansville If connected to I-57 it would have an even number such as "257" or "694".
When you take on Chicago always good regardless of using bypass or not to be aware of when hitting the city. Best for avoid the 7-9am, 11am-1pm, and the 330pm-8pm spots. If you drive in those three time slots regardless of interstate used you'll likely get caught in a jam.

This footage gets very faster at 7:33
That driver must’ve been like:
“This Chicago traffic is so bad, I’ll just use the shoulder” (16:29)
“Well, that was a mistake” (16:35)
At the end, it's most likely unknown on where the reckless driver was pulled over. Also, the car was either towed or its driver charges a fine.
Nice ride along interstate 94(tri state tollway)

Thanks for commenting again, the first version got blocked and deleted
4:47 Crossing this interchange is the county line where Lake Cook Rd follows the county line of Lake and Cook Counties.
Technically 294 is also partially in DuPage County too cause it’s runs directly along the county line
@@joejonas3684, Most of southbound I-294 crosses the county line a few times.

In the future, I wonder when will the reconstruction of this tollway and an interchange with I-290 IL and I-88 IL be complete.
Yea that project is huge, along with I-490 being built around western O’Hare.
