Chris and I were whistling along with you in the first tunnel. This was a spooky trail. Just before the 14 min mark you turned the camera on 2 huge, tall plants on the side of the trail, They were Mullein plants. Very good for the respiratory system, along with other things. I’ll have a video of the medicinal benefits of mullein in the near future. I loved this video, but it was a lonely, spooky ride. I’m petrified of bats 🦇 and that tunnel looked like bat city. We wish Bob well and we’re thinking of him. Thanks for the ride 🤗💙🙏
Ooh, that was creepy, but fun! I would imagine the acoustics in the tunnels would be good for someone singing. You could have entertained us in such a manner!😉 Thanks for this fun video and God bless!
Love this area! Biking one tunnel to the next would be epic! Very cool- we have been to the Sideling Hill Tunnel - but not the one closer to 30. We explored some but not through - very cool!
You are brave. That tunnel gave me the creeps - just how dark it was and how you seemed to be the only one out there. Thanks for showing us this interesting area.
Would have loved to have seen more of your tunnel ride. You must have got scared & put the e-bike on turbo-speed to get out of there? Your braver than me for sure! I'd have called it a day & just gone home. I enjoyed the video very much. Thanks Dave.
Cool bit of trivia. At 4:30. You point your camera upward and there is some very old graffiti painted up there that has been there at least since 2005 or even before probably. But I can definitely date it back to a picture of Sideling Hill that was featured on the cover of a Penn Lines magazine. It was a 2005 issue that first mentioned the Pike2Bike and it also discussed about light bulbs such as CFL's. The Graffiti is what I call Green Rabbit or something to that effect. I like your editing you keep it interesting. Also I've got a playlist on my channel with my videos of the Abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike. You should watch my video of my first trip in 2013. You will see alot less graffiti on the walls back then.
You were totally right about it looking like an apocalyptic movie scene, especially with the eerie fog and the graffiti. I have to agree with your opinion on graffiti. Normally, I hate graffiti, but in this instance, it kind of seemed appropriate. It never ceases to amaze me how mankind builds such costly and extravagant structures, and then just lets them go to waste. It's very strange. Oh and I've had three songs stuck in my head for weeks now. One of them is "Alone Again, Naturally" (I blame you for that one.) Also, "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadda, Here I am at Camp Grenada" (I blame Randy for that one, because he mentioned it one day.) The last one is Dolly Parton's "Here You Come Again, and There I go" (That one is my fault because I was listening to an Oldies station and was reminded that I had forgotten that song, but liked it.) I really enjoyed this video because my kids were talking about riding their one wheels at this very spot, so it was extra interesting to me. Loved the disappearing act towards the end. You are very talented and entertaining. 🚲 🌻🌼🌲🌿🏵🌹🚲📸 🔦
Only song I could think of is ´Fear of the Dark‘😂 , very creepy .Interesting to watch you doing that ride , but I hate dark tunnels like out of a Stephen King movie🥶.You must be very brave .
People go up into those rooms all the time. Just watch other videos you'll see. The road is marked at your own risk. I think that sign is probably there to cover thier butts if someone tries to sue if they get injured. I've never gone up there myself. But my nephew did back in 2013. I prefer to go in March right around Dpring. Less chance of snakes and I'll tell you it feels so much more open with no leaves on the trees.
I know alot of people that have been up there. Really cool looking. That was the first time I have seen those signs. But I haven't been here for a year or so. I wouldn't want to film it. That would be proof I didnt obey. According to sign you can get permission. Thanks for watching and commenting. God bless 👍🙂🙏
@dayhikedave Yeah I've never gone up myself. I'm more in awe of how large the tunnel entrance it. I'm currently watching your video on the Viaduct in Meyersdale. That town is one of my favorite places and have many videos of Meyersdale too on my channel besides the Abandoned Turnpike ones.
@@SchardtCinematic Funny. Planning on hitting that trailhead up soon. Maybe my favorite biking trailhead. Either direction is awesome! I will have to check out your videos.👍🙂🙏
@dayhikedave Thank you for Subscribing. After I saw your Meyersdale video I knew I had to subscribe to you're channel. I like all the train displays they have in the old train station along the Allegheny passage in Meyersdale.
Dave, im not all the way through, but I feel that you changed something in your video settings. I really loved the "feel" of this one- in terms of the look of the film - it had great visuals and audio, besides just being another overall outstanding project! Did you film this in 24 frames per second?
Yes. It was 24fps. Wow, amazing how you noticed. I guess that's why your videos are so awesome. You notice every detail. Should I continue to use this setting? Anyway always great knowing you watching and hearing from you! I would love to see your production of these tunnels 😮. Would be awesome. Hopefully see you on the trail sometime soon!!!👍🙂🙏
@@dayhikedave Yes I knew it!!! Has a much more cinematic quality and also stands out because hardly anyone else uses it. Obviously its what I prefer, but it comes down to your own personal preference. Maybe we can set something up for a nice fall hike somewhere, it just seems like you have pretty much already been everywhere lol.
@@dayhikedave I will email you. I have a location targeted but it is extremely rough and rugged and may require bushwhacking and navigation but some have called the most beautiful and wild stretches of mountain stream and scenery in the Commonwealth.
@@WALTERZOLNA sounds interesting. Just did a 10.5 mile bush whack with my pack on. Video next Sunday. Oh the pain. I'm sure you can relate. Not always as glamorous as the film shows but somehow we still love it 🙂
@@joshriles84 24:14 as mentioned is the WESTERN most end. The TA Truck stop is 1/2 mile from there up RT.30 on the right, past the closed Ramada and Quality Inn. The First Tunnel, Rays Hill is 1.5 Miles from that access point on Rt 30 and Tannery Rd
I enjoyed Watching and Thank you for Sharing!
Thanks for watching.
A great ride.
Saw lots of comments about broken glass. I had no issues. 👍🙂🙏
Spooky indeed. Thank you.
Could you imagine if a deer wandered in there and you came upon it😧
Another neat adventure. Thanks for sharing. One of these days, the wife and I need to load up our e-bikes and make that ride. 👍
Definitely an unforgettable experience!
You must get there if you can.
Bring plenty of light 🔦🔦🔦🔦🔦
Pretty brave heading through that tunnel...twice! I'd be a little afraid of waking up any bats roosting in them dark corners! lol Bruce and Otis

Scary but fun.
Didn't see any bats. But I'm sure they were there 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇

I have family that lives on that approach road, just a mile away. I go through that 1st tunnel every Labor Day weekend.
Nice secluded area. Fun tunnel. Thanks for watching and keep on adventuring. 👍🙂🙏
That looked like fun. Glad you didn't meet anything or body in the dark tunnels. You have such a great imagination when doing this videos.
Thanks. Was a little worried an animal may be in the tunnel. Is a fun place to explore. 🙂👍🙏
