Life in villages and small towns here is very calm and harmonious. Magnificent nature, many indigenous Komi and Russian Old Believers preserve unique traditions. But the cities... My God, this is exactly what hell looks like. Personally, I think that Komi is one of those places that should have been stuck in the Middle Ages and continued to live happily away from wars and epidemics
3,000 years ago is not considered pre-historic friend. Neither when speaking of mankinds history or otherwise. Recorded human linguistic history dates alone dates back some 8-10 thousand years ago. Just a minor correction.
Thanks for the interested content. I’m confused as to the difference between perm and Komi (if any?) especially since you have two different videos on them. I’d love some clarification, thank you 🙏
The Komi people are made up of 2 groups = the Zyryans who are the native people of the Komi republic & the Permyak's who are native to Permyakia or the Komi Permyak Okrug which is today a territory of the Perm Krai with special status , formerly an autonomous okrug . Permyakia is the southern neighbor of the Komi republic .
GULAG is only one - it means "General Directorate of camps and places of detention" - it is absolutely incorrect to use this word in plural tense or for for some particular camp, thanks.
To many (western-world, but especially in English) the meaning of term is sifted: a penal colony where forced labor is performed. Several returned survivors refer to these often as just "Siberia" (eg: "when I was in Siberia"), and others understand it immediately as gulag camp. However it only works in context, where gulag is specifically topic.

Can not agree until haven't taken look personally, tho mine interest might be leaning more towards people. Well "cool" = "ыркыд" -- you have lot more of that than we have.
Always proud to see, if our brother nation gets noticed.

I thought you would say a fact about komi is that its commie but thank God you didnt. I subscribed
Politics come and go. It's a nation's culture and history I'm more interested in.
Komi Republic has a long history of hosting some of the most brutal gulags in all of Russian history.
