- Of course while uploading the last video I was notified by youtube that I no longer am restricted by the 15 minute limit, so future videos can be a lot longer. I am still used to the 10 minute limit, future videos will be fun now that I can record for a lot longer.
great kit. you mentioned a space blanket if you haven't looked at one i suggest looking into the emergancy bivey its a bag rather than an awkward blanket. its a bit bigger but much more usefull
So if you're hungry you can eat the survival tabs, and if you're cold you can eat the fuel tabs to warm you up.... oh, wait, that's not how it works
some great gear mate
@Woodenarrows Glad you asked, it is for cleaning the ash out of the stove. Also, in extreme conditions, the handle is wood so I have some extra dry tinder.
@Ggreenvideos Wow, that's a lot. REI seems to be having a sale, and they have a clearance store too. Seem to have some interesting stuff under 200 dollars.
@Ggreenvideos Yeah i love the Vargo, but I will admit it might be hard to assemble in your cold winters, lol. I like it because it weighs so little, and I needed a pot stand and windscreen anyway for my triad and trangia stoves. The Ti stakes were hard to find, most people use bigger stakes, but these simple ones are perfect for me. Just recieved my tent today, will open it tomorrow on camera, would love your opinion once i post it. I think it will be a fun video, it's no ordinary tent.
@wawhiker And I forgot to show the safety pin idea, which I will show when I do a test burn. If you stick a safety pin in the latch of the hexagon, it makes the stove a lot stronger to hold larger pots( but the weight is actually carried by the wall of the stove anyway, so even if the latch came undone, I doubt the stove would fall down). As far as the stakes, lots of people use metal coat hangers , but I figure I have to carry tent pegs anyway so I use them(I love multi-purpose gear)
@Ggreenvideos I doubt the cheap tent i bought off Ebay would survive an hour in your weather, lol. I have looked into really good tents for all 4 seasons, and boy are they pricey. Hilleberg seems to make great stuff, double walled tents to protect from the cold, but they would cost a full weeks wages. If I get serious into camping, I will save for a really good 4 season tent myself(even though I won't be out when it is below freezing, I still want to be warm, lol)
@cougarbahia if you check out Wawhiker, he has a vid showing you can use the stove upside down as a grill, it is an awesome stove.
@TacZakk1911 Thanks, I have actually recently gotten 2 versions of bivvy's, the adventure medical one and a green military style one. I am currently looking for a reusable bivvy, some kind of long term use lightweight sleeping bag, if you know of any. Thanks for the info.
