This video just makes me smile with amazement Rus! It's so awesome how the freeze drying changes the texture and sizes of the candies and seems to enhance the flavors! I love the crunch that you could hear. So amazing to learn about this. Thanks for this video Bud! Y'all have a great weekend!!
Harvest right does have a layaway, took me about 3 months to pay mine off. I wanted the black, they were out but put me down for one for when they came in. Everything went smoothly.
That's so funny Rus, I recently brought in some freeze dried Starbursts for the guys at work to try. I've also had freeze dried Skittles. Try doing salt water taffy or Atomic Fireballs.
What a fantastic video. I am so thankful that I found your channel. I can hardly wait to start my candy mode this evening. Looking forward to more of your videos. Have a blessed day.
When you do Candy or really anything. How do you know how much extra dry time should you add. Basically I’m worried about something finishing when I’m asleep or not home. What do I do? Thank you!
No need to worry. You set extra dry time until you know you have time to remove the candy. Most candy can be ready in 3 hours while some candy can take longer, but we normally start ours at night before bed and set it to 12 hours, but even if you set it to 24 hours or longer it will not hurt the candy or any other freeze dried food. Also if you get up the next morning, you can stop the machine at anytime. It doesn't have to run the entire extra time you added. It's really an easy laid back process.
I really enjoy watching your videos. I just got a freeze dryer a few days ago and I coudn't wait to get started. My BIG problem...my candy is till gooey and/or hard in the center. Could you please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thank you in advance =)
Some candy don't do as good as others so we experiment to see what does the best. This video covered how I set the settings for candy mode. Most candy that does well will usually take no more than 5 hours to finish, but we usually set it now days to run for 12 hours and let it work while we sleep and then when we get up, we will turn it off and bag up the candy. If you are on facebook, I recommend you to join a few of the freeze dried candy groups. You can learn from other people doing it and see what kind of candy they are getting the best results from.
If you do garlic cloves, most of mine turned out good, but there were some that were rubbery. I've seen some say to give a rough chop before putting in.
@hampter4531 Not sure what your asking, but it does have a compressor and parts like a regular freezer but that’s just part of what makes it a freeze drier. It has a vacuum chamber with vacuum pump and has a controller and warmers for the trays
It wasn’t $2 worth of skittles. You paid for someone to order, process and package them. That person has over head, taxes, food sanitation classes etc. Every business up charges for their part.
Do you think these would be good for someone who loves candy but cant chew the hard ones anymore? I got the sense from your video this might be ideal for that after you compared them to whoppers
Very interesting seems like...when you freeze dry candy it enhances the flavor profile. I'm not this trend has reached here on the island..but I'm sure my daughter Jacklyn going to find out lol 😂. Thanks for sharing another interesting video....take care and have a great weekend bro. Cheers!🍻👍
You said a whooper but without the chocolate, im wondering now how it would work if you did dip them in chocolate. Maybe the strawberry jolly rancher or something might be good.
As I said in the video, it’s a Harvest Right freeze drier. The link to the website is in the description below the video. You can get pricing there for the different models
Thanks Gary! I guess freeze dryers aren't that popular based on the views this video is getting, but yes a lot of fun. I'm doing strawberries tomorrow. Not shooting a video of it, just doing it. I'll be using this at least a few times a week while building up long term food supply.
I went to your link and just entered to win one. I’m not well and the ability to freeze dry food making it much easier for me to eat will be very beneficial to me.
There is no recipe or formula. Just freeze dry until all the moisture is pulled out of the fruit. You can use a moisture meter to determine if there is any moisture present.
No need to rearrange. I’ve gotten to where I start a batch of candy before I go to sleep and set it to run 12 hours, even though it doesn’t take that long to be done, I know I can get a good nights sleep and when I get up I shut it down and package the candy.
Thats awesome thanks for telling me I will be sure to check them out I made some freeze dried candy with dry ice tonight I’ll get back with you and tell you how it was probably Wednesday
HARVEST rIGHT DOES HAVE A LAY-A-WAY PLAN, 4250 down and whatever you can afford after that untill it's paid for . I can hardly wait to get mine paid off!
Sell freeze dried candy and it will pay for itself in no time. Ours runs at least 4 days a week and my wife sells candy daily. My unit has paid for itself 3 times over already.
Most any candy that does well in a freeze drier is done in about 3 to 5 hours. We normally set ours at night before bed, and have it set to run 12 to 14 hours only so we can get a good nights sleep and once we are up, we turn the machine off and package the candy. It doesn't hurt anything to run longer and it allows you to get to it when you can.
Freeze drying is a combination of freezing under vacuum while applying heat to release moisture from the food which attaches to the frozen cylinder. Candy mode runs warmer plates than in regular freeze dry mode. If this doesn’t make since I would suggest researching it.
Depends. Some chocolate runs right off and makes a mess while other candies such as Charleston Chews and Snicker bars do great. Experience will teach you which candy does the best.
@@SmokyRibsBBQ I really appreciate it I saved your post as things progress in my business I'll surely buy that machine I make candy everyday something different is a plus.

Hey Rob! Yeah it's pretty wild for sure! The crunch is amazing! Your welcome Rob and thank you!
You need to preheat your starburst 8 min at 225 in the oven. then no warming of trays. soon as the pump kicks on they floof
Good to know, thank you

Yeah, it's really wild how it works. Fun for sure. I'm gonna be using it a lot! Not so much in video, but day to day living. Cheers Kevin!
Do they use a lot of electricity? I'm interested in getting one but wondering how much it would cost to run. Great tutorial BTW thanks 😊
No not at all. We use ours a lot. I would estimate around $2 for a 24 hour cycle. Most of the candy we make takes no longer than 5 hours.
Dude that is so cool 😎 lol. I’d have to try one of those starbursts. I never let myself have them, but I’d consider it a must!
It really is Mike! The Jolly Ranchers were fantastic! They were all good but those are my favorite so far. Thanks for checking out the video brother

Sounds like a great idea for people who love these candys but hate the extra chewy and extra sticky texture when they stick to your teeth
Exactly right, plus its a different texture and the flavors are even more pronounced.
I think that's the point of dry freezing it I eat freeze dried gum all the time now
