This is such a beautiful song. Dave is such a great songwriter and storyteller. I know this song has helped a lot of people deal with grief and survivor's guilt. Btw, Bones in the Ocean is about to become a community song some time in the near-ish future. The Johns will provide a few guide tracks for different harmonies, and then other people will film themselves singing along to them. And then TLJ and their team will make it into a beautiful video with hundreds of faces and voices singing this amazing song. If you're at all interested in singing yourself, do consider participating! It's such a cool feeling to see and hear something really beautiful, and know that you played a small part in creating it. We don't yet know who will be singing the lead in the project, since Dave left the band last year. JD (the tallest guy with glasses) has been leading it when they play live, so it'll either be him, or they might ask Dave if he wants to do it.

This song is such a departure from their usual songs, or at least the previous ones we have heard on the channel, and I love it...it's so beautiful and the lyrics are phenomenal...that's two days in a row that you have had a song that was surprisingly emotional/heart touching from a surprising source and I LOVE it! Fantastic reaction, and I'm glad that I randomly decided to see if anyone else gave this song a listen lol. I think you've really hit on a big reason why shanties/work songs resonate so much, the fact that we can relate/mourne/empathize with who we're singing about and it not be necessarily a painful thing. It's shit, and the world doesn't care about us so we might as well sing through it anyways. And in the end, at least we have each other to remember us by. I wish we had half as eloquent a way to sing though our miseries and sorrows nowadays, in person to really feel the effects of being seen and valued, and maybe the "self-exit" strategy would be decreasing instead of vastly rising. I can't really imagine a work song about "Ohibidi Toilet" really having the same emotional weight to it 😂😅 Edit: It reminds me a lot of an Irish wake. Where no matter how sad the death, or the circumstances, we try to celebrate the good times and choke back the tears in their memories, while still raising your glasses to those sad memories too. Don't ever let those sad memories go, because that's what they struggled through but now that they're gone you should celebrate their life and what good they brought to you ✌️💜

It hit me hard becuse i 1 watch slice of life anime 2 i play sot and i end every game by burning down my ship and playing this (the memorys of some of my voyages hit hard some if not all my online frienda originate to a long and memberable voyages) also slice of life anime one that put scars on you clannad you hear the songs there happy but it get sad and dark all your memorys of the characters half way in clannad after story it shreds your soul and heart then your left like me 4 sec in that intro and i start crying
