nrawson66 Hello. I leave them out on a tray, with a fan running close by to promote circulation, it helps with the drying and also faster the icing dries shinier the finish. Humidity affects icing big time. When it's humid, in the summer I have a dehumidifier running when I dry the cookies. Icing normally dries with a nice sheet finish, it's not super glossy but it's not matte. I'd compare to satin pain finish, if that makes sense. You can also speed up the drying, and put the cookies in the oven at the lowest setting for 10-15 minutes, it will speed up the drying process, the crust will form on the top.
