Hi Anthony: stumbled on your videos as I was looking for info on connecting my new 30A to my new 325 with Excel Power and WIC 😀❤️🇺🇸👍. Yes, I’m blessed this way but also invested about 40K between the custom trailer, (reels, compressor, cables, Dynasty 400, Xtreme 12 on and on) AMAZING advice. I just moved the Oregon from Florida (where I think you are) and things have been going well. DIVERSITY is key as you mention. Can’t agree more. I have ASME and D1.1 6G in Carbon and stainless, as well as Aluminum D1.5. YES YES YES- “The price is the price” Hobart for a year wasn’t free. Spent 4 years working to make other peoples vacations better after graduating from Hobart. That’s over now. You are doing a great service to the young ones who don’t understand
You are spot on ! I'm a new subscriber because your delivery is great ! I was in your exact place 30 years ago and I'm seeing the young version of me in what you're doing. I'm retired now at 62 because I saved my money, invested wisely. I wish more young guys like you were out there. Most guys of your generation are just too whiny and fussy. I wish you luck my man.
I do a some what similar job i do mobile repair on heavy equiment which could be anything from a pm service oil and filters grease to welding up a broken excavator boom ( I try to avoid electrical work especially rodent damage) Anyways I started by putting adds on Craigslist and now marketplace and if its a new customer depending on the job I will want a deposit of a credit card hold or a check up front like I just did a startup on a d9 dozer that was parked 20+ yrs I charged them 1000$ up front they wrote me a check I stoped by bank confirmed it was good if your payee on a check they legally have to tell u if it will clear did the work the bill was 3200 ish they said rip the deposit check up and wrote me new a one for full bill check cleared no problem was a good 2 days of work
Great vid Anthony! Lot of great advice for any business. Also agree with others about 'showing up' BIGGEST headache for project managers is contractors who don't show up when they said they would. I don't care about an hour late, it's the contractors who don't show up until a day or three after they said they would, it blows whole timelines up, wastes lot of time and money.
Set a time you tell your customer you'll be there, AND BE THERE AT THAT TIME !!!! One thing that I get complimented on several times from customers......
This is great advice but honestly this could go for any trade job! Machining plumbing welding construction its all hard work and its not cheap work!! I guess people think since you didnt go to college and dont sit at a desk all day that your job is easy or simple bec it didnt come from a diploma!! And all i can think is if its that easy or cheap why they dont just do it themselves!?!? Idk…. great video and great advice!!
I know a machinist (my dad worked for 30+ years ago) who got into mobile line boring. He landed the contract for the dam/reservoir project in our town, he's a millionaire now.
I really enjoy your videos. I appreciate your no-nonsense approach and your sincerity. I work a desk job and am just getting into welding as a hobby. I wish I had done it a lot earlier.
Hey bro, I’ve just started a mobile welding business, love your channel, would like to hear about “keeping the momentum going” (work is very slow ). Cheers
Totally- you have to be almost shameless. Literally not care about the answer. It’s incredibly freeing and a great attribute to use in all facets of life
Why is it people have no problem dropping $50 to $100 for a chiropractor session, massage, etc.. $30 plus for a basic haircut, $5 plus for a gourmet coffee, etc, etc....but a mobile welder that shows up and does a job in 20-30 minutes isn't worth $50. I had a guy want to pay me $200 to refab an electrically operated security gate at his vacation home. He told me the welding prices are outrageous and that he doesn't want to pay for someone's mortgage.....I guess he thinks we do this for free and we don't have bills.
Just this last Saturday this guy I'm doing some work for doesn't know crap about anything ask me for a bar door for lady so I went to measure the opening he's charging her twice what I'm charging strike 1 she also wanted springs for a one piece garage door I must give a price so he will to do tha repairs strike 2 and I must wear a shirt with his phony company logo strike 3 his ass is out I'm a welder not his cash cow while I was welding some brackets the home owner came up behind me and said there's an electrical out let that needs to be fixed also look at it when I'm done I politely turned and said I'm not a handyman I'm just here to weld so check with Harold while I was holding on to the last of what little patience I had
I like those tips they are good for me!!
Glad you like them!
Thank you.
Welcome!
