Thank you Peter, it was good to see all those tips in one video, I had to watch some more to figure all that out. And indeed to see the twins was a lot of fun.
I know a lot about this camera already but i wouldn’t mind knowing more, could you make more videos about this camera? By the way great video! I love the different camera angles for each tip.
One tip I figured out: For navigating most of the menus, we can use both dials. The front dial goes left or right into and out of menus, the rear dial goes up or down through menu options. 'OK' button to select. Once I got used to this, it was MUCH faster to navigate menus than using the directional arrows. Nice job with the video editing; very fun effect!
Peter, thanks for the very informative videos. I recently purchased an Olympus EM-10 ii and can't wait to try it out on light trails! I have a Canon DSLR and the Olympus is incredibly small, should make a great travel camera!
Great info on customizing the OK button to show the super control panel. The shortcut button does the same thing (on PASM) unfortunately so a bit redundant so I wish the shortcut button could be customizable. Just got the Mk3 and upgraded from the Mk1 and learning the differences between the two cameras. Not sure if I will keep the Mk3 because it doesn't have MySets and less customizable buttons. Olympus really needs to put these two features back on the E-M10 Mk3 and Mk4 via the firmware update.
I just saw this. I need all those tips demonstrated on camera itself. I came from Canon 1000D and i find this camera too confusing for me. Thanks a lot. That tip number 2 alone is super annoying if they are on.
Although an older model now, the camera is still fantastic...the tutorials in your videos are "on spot" man! TY so much as the OM documentation is...well, "lacking". Much appreciated sir!
I've used a little Samsung point'n'shoot for 14 years and love the simplicity but now I want better pictures but without too much hassle. What settings give best point'n'shoot with the EM10? Also night shots with the Samsung were simple so long as I used a wall or lamppost to steady my hands as I pressed the shutter - so is the EM10 ok for simple night shots without scrolling through menus?
Do you have any tips for us EM10Markiii users about better settings to get clearer and steadier pictures with the 75-300mm ii lens? I heard that at 300mm the images were too soft but my experience with certain amount of bright light condition and low ISO i.e. ISO200, object can be clearer and sharp in further distance (from one end of a football field to another far end) than those closer (like two Toyota Hilux body length) object. I felt like messing up a lot in the focusing especially with the mix use of all that available. Most of my clear shots now mainly lucky shots I think.
I just got this camera every as a gift. Every time I take a pic it shuts off . It lets me take a video but when I take a picture it doesn’t save and shuts off. Is it broken?
Hi Peter I've just got this and am struggling with Exp comp tip 5 says set Back dial I don't know which is Back dial sorry I have a Nikon d7100 and it's so easy to change Exp comp any help would be much appreciated Thanks
Alguém sabe se tem um jeito de gravar vídeo com essa câmera no perfil completamente flat? Tipo o C log ou S log , Alguém sabe como gravar assim ? Acho que é L log pra olympus, só queria gravar flat com ela pra editar depois.
@@ForsgardPeter I believe I set the meter to one of the other settings following the first. When I did, the entire outside view was washed out, as if the camera was over-exposed to max. But the meter was always centered. I believe it may have had something to do with a high ISO but I can't figure it out. But a "reset" fixed it so I must have screwed something up. If you have any diagnosis, I'd sure appreciate it. Thank you.
Se riippuu aika paljon siitä millaisen kuvan haluat. Perinteiseen potrettiin iso aukko on hyvä. Kokeile aukolla f1.8 tai f2.0. Se on hyvä alku. Suljinaika sitten valon määrän mukaan.ISO mahdollisimman alhaalla.
I hate how the mkiii has vastly less menu options than the mkii. The cleaned up menu should appear in the "beginner" settings, while Manual has the same freedom as the mkii. You can't even shoot in manual silent mode...
Great video as always, after watching Terry Lane`s video, is there a future for Micro Four Thirds cameras, as I understand it Olympus are losing money as a company, do we keep adding to our Olympus systems. !!!!!!!!!!!!! Regards. Colin.
Forget about the weird bald guy who appears over any smooth blank surface! & I hope your red nose is only the seasonal thingie in response to Rudolph/Santa and definitely not anything to do with Corona! Good job my witty friend and HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR. Only don't enjoy too much in these locked down days and surly not to forget, NIGHTS! 🗽🙏
Very good video - THANKS! Nice camera. However, many of us do wish Olympus would rework their truly awful remote shutter/live view App. On the surface it has great functionality BUT it will not stay reliably connected to WiFi -- which makes it pretty useless for live work. I have tried it MANY times on Android phones and tablets AND iPhones and iPads, all with current systems, in both remote and urban environments. The record so far is to stay connected a little over three minutes with E-M5 Mark II and E-M10 MarkII & III. I feel Olympus Corp does not create the app, but gives it to the lowest bidder. GREAT and AMAZING cameras but very unreliable app because of the connection issues! Can you offer a tip to enhance the signal from the camera, or...?
I need to check the connection thing. I have had no problem with the app connecting to my camera. Yet again I have not used the app so much with E-M10 -series cameras and I usually just transfer a few images to my phone. Really need to test that a bit more.
@@ForsgardPeter Thank you, Peter, that would be great to get your input, especially if you discover there exists a "secret" to maintaining a reliable connection. By the way, I should add that the phones and tablets we tested were all set to NOT continuously SCAN for WiFi networks; I was sure that was the problem early on, or maybe even competing WiFi networks barging in, but neither now seems to be the case. The app is very attractive so it would be great to actually be able to use it.
@@ForsgardPeter Oh, my goodness! Peter, guess what?! The solution has been found, after ONLY about three years! My phone, and my wifes as well, have always been placed in POWER SAVING MODE. THAT has always been the problem - allows you to connect and control only briefly. We have Apple and Android devices (mine is a Samsung Galaxy S7 and a Samsung tablet, too). Power Saving is easy to turn off and on. So, it was NOT the App at fault. Yay! Jee !?
I’ve had this thing for 2 weeks and NO ONE ANYWHERE can tell me: 1) if this camera can even shoot RAW images & 2) How to enable those if possible. I’ve “Googled” it about a dozen times and it seems to be the biggest secret in modern photography. Since I really don’t care about RAW, I guess it doesn’t matter but I do wonder about all the secrecy. Seems strange.

Thank you.
I just got an EM10iii and found these tips very useful. Thanks for sharing. 👍

What do you think about de panasonic gx80 and the OM-D Em-10 mark III. Which one do you prefer ? I don’t know what to choose.
Podría haber puesto como hacerlo en el menu. Creo que habría sido más completo

Hi Peter
Please give us a video on Olympus MY SETTINGS..... thanks !
excellent video tips peter , you were freezing
Yes, it was quite cold!
JAJAJA! very original Peter!

There is a full automatic mode too.

The 75-300mm can be a bit soft at 300mm. Also you need a quite fast shutter speed tp hold the camera steady enough.

Sounds odd. Unfortunately it is very hard to say what the problem is.

It is the back wheel on top of the camera.

@@ForsgardPeter Hi Thanks I was shooting in Manuel mode but when I put it in Aperture priority I see it Thanks
Hey Peter, are you going to do one of these for the Mk IV? Or is it essentially the same?
I will do a best settings video for E-M10 MK IV in the near future.
Can you make a more detailed version of this video with step by step?
totally agree with you. please do step by step.. not just showing you speak (inserted video)..

No it does not have a flat profile or OM-Log400.
When my meter is set (not over or underexposed) it is suddenly "overexposed" as the new normal. Did I suddenly touch the wrong setting?
I did a "basic reset" and that solved the problem. Thanks anyway.
Great that the problem was solved. Did you figure out what the problem was?

Where can i get the OM-D beanie hat
Unfortunately I do not know. I got it from Olympus Finland and I think they do not sell them.

Hello peter, is there an exact way to set all pictures to RAW instead of JPEG?
Go to the Super Control panle and in the bottom there is the option to choose only raw.
Peter Forsgård I’m sorry lol; but how exactly do I get there? I just got this brand new yesterday & I’m new to olympus
I made a short video about Super Panel last November: ruclips.net/video/TK97Pu-Z8uo/видео.html

Not many camera companies are making money these days. The sals are going down.
Can you take pictures whit it in bad wheater?
Yes.
Thnx Peter now i dont have te be afraid in the rainy days 😉

It does shoot raw. Press Ok button and choose from Image Quality option. You need to set the Mode Dial to either P, A, S or M.

would have been better off showing how to do it, that is what I came here to see
