A couple of suggestions. I volunteer at an animal shelter. Two things the dogs really like is a benebone for hard chewing. And a Wubba you. This has a squeaky ball with material over the ball and has material sections hanging down. Also you may want to get a hand sanitizer holder to clip to your leash and something to put used poop bags in just in case there is not a garbage can close. Winston is so cute. You need painting of him as a puppy. Or a photo shoot.
In addition, please never use the car leash on a dog’s collar, please use a harness instead. In the event of an accident your dog could have severe neck injuries.
I love how you puppy proofed your place. As a retired Veterinary technician, I want to caution you on stuffing in toys, it can block the intestines and can cut the gut. I just have to say, I love you and your talents, you are so creative. ❤
Justin’s voice is quite therapeutic to listen to. Also, loved the little lesson regarding old walls. That was quite informative. I didn’t know that’s what they looked like behind but I definitely have heard many times things crumbling behind there. My mother’s house is 100 years old.
Winston is so adorable. Just a suggestion, but when he outgrows anything donate it to a local shelter. They will be so glad to get it. And it will come in very useful in helping pets get adopted.
@@kaudsiz no... they were saying- after winston outgrows something like a harness, sweater, bed, collar, etc- to give those items to a shelter instead of throwing them away. that was a terrible misread
Hi from Australia, proud mum here of 2 of these beautiful furbabies. Can i just say there goes your heart, and yes, it's hard work, but trust me, it's all worth it! Oh, he's just darling 😍 ❤️
Hey Drew-when we got our pug puppy we lived in a MCM ranch house with a single stair in and out to the yard so he really wasn't exposed to a flight of stairs until he was over 6 months old. When he was exposed, he was VERY hesitant to go up or down them and to this day (4 years later) refuses to go down the flight of stairs to our basement (despite us trying everything we could think of to get him to voluntarily go down). So if you can expose Winston to stairs when you take him on walks (to the park or wherever) sooner rather than later he'll see them as no big deal and have no fear of them. It never occurred to me at the time that he might have that problem with stairs. Winston is a darling little boy!
Good suggestion. Walking up and down some stairs (the inside ones as well) every once in a while won't hurt him. It's the constant up and down that may cause joint damage. But you can introduce them to stairs and other things easier at that age than as an adult. My dog for example was a rescue who probably lived his first years completely outside. He was terrified of walking on hardwood floors and smooth tiles and isn't a big fan of stairs either to this day
So interesting...My boy was the same way..He was three when he first encountered stairs and similar to your dog refused to use them...Well that lasted one night when he realized not going up stairs meant he was sleeping on the floor..God forbid his majesty sleeps on the floor like a dog. My girl however, Daisy was introduced to stairs at 8 weeks..At first I had to carry her because of size but she was never scared like her brother.....BTW pugs are my second fave breed..those faces and eyes...so adorable!!
Drew mentioned in his "I'm a dad" video that he grew up with bulldogs his whole life. I'm sure Winston will have the best life and Drew is doing what's best for his baby :)
Justin did a great job of showing how to install the dog door.❤ And the balcony potty that you put together is a really nice thing for Winny!❤ He is so adorable!❤
I’m so sorry for you loss Drew. My prayers are with you and your family. You’re just such a bright light and so full of love, so thoughtful & caring, you make the best pup dad 🥹 Lot’s of love to you, sweet Winston & the rest of your familia!!!
We love your videos. Congratulations on the new baby. He’s precious. As a retired insurance agent I have taken many claims for accidents where the dog has died. Always clip your dog into a harness not a collar. The motion of a car accident can snap a dog’s neck. But you are doing everything beautifully. That little guy has got the best parents.
Oh, so happy to see you both. Yes, even 10 year old dogs (like mine) who needs 5 walks a day, and constant attention. You are a parent of a 2 year old for a long time! I love you both! Drew, they make balls that move when the pup gets near them. That might wear him out a bit.❤️❤️❤️Thanks to you all for this video!
Bulldogs are so intelligent... they are amazing. You are such a great dad. Winston is one lucky puppy to have you. Praise, praise, praise is the right way to go. You are doing a great job!
We have our puppy 4 weeks today. We hung bells on the back door for our puppy to let us know she needs to go out. As each day passes there are fewer in-house accidents. She is such a joy!
I have sleighbells on my back door, but my rescued dog that had never been house broken never caught on to using them. Fortunately, she did understand that potty was for the outside. She's been gone for years, but the bells are still there.
So glad you got a seatbelt for him! I've seen so many people driving with their dogs loose in the car, sitting on their lap while driving, and it's so unsafe.
Dying, what a cutie. Couldn't believe that porch potty existed, so cool! We did a similar setup on our porch, but just used a large crate liner and sod from the nursery. Ours was only for emergencies when we left our girl home alone. A great idea for your little boy.
Oh Drew - what a sweet little pup!! You can't help but love that face!! Yes, puppies are a lot of work!! Its not much different than having a baby, but so worth all the effort; they bring so much love and joy. I love all the puppy proofing elements and I am considering getting the crate you are using for my 2 year old Maltese ShiTzu mix. That porch potty is genius and makes me wish I had situation where I could make use of one. I am so happy for you and Marie that you have brought a pup into your home. BTW, I love the name Winston!
I loved this video and am happy little Winston won the lottery getting you for his Dad! He is SO Adorable! Gotta say it again Justin is a Great friend 🧡
I am so amazed that the equipment you get in America for dogs. Love Winston a new member of family. Thanks to Drew he’s so nice and knowledgeable. Again my condolences for your grandfather .
When it comes to square shaped dogs I absolutely recommend both the waist and neck loops be individually adjustable, (which it looks like the carhartt one is!) when your ready to replace that one, wild one through petco has amazing harnesses, three point contact, plush and comfortable, not to mention adorable. ❤️ my pug juniper has the lilac one, and it’s the best harness ever!
I love that you are going to take Winston out with you as much as possible. I take my dog with me everywhere. At the DIY store you are allowed to put your dog in a shopping cart and go looking for paint or plants. ❤
Sorry for your loss, prayers for you & your family🙏 Winston is absolutely precious and i know he's going to be starring on the channel often😊 I know you're going to be an awesome dad too!
I loved watching you growing and learning to be a good dog daddy, don't worry about home decor Winston is the new star of the show. Also my condolences on the passing of your grandfather.
Soooo ADORABLE! Winston is the cutest. I found this to be a wonderful house related, DIY, puppy video. It was fun to see and hear a little more of Justin. What a gem of a friend. It is lovely to see you so happy with your new little buddy. My deepest heartfelt condolences for the passing of your dear Grand Father.
So sorry for youir lost Drew, and congrats to getting a new puppy. Give Winston a snug from one pet parent to another. I love all of this things that you have shared with getting Winston all comfy. The comfort of any kind of animal is wonderful, and lots of fun.
Drew, so sorry to hear about you grandpa. Winston is so cute! Glad you're being a responsible daddy, I was worried about those stairs. And Justin, you are such a good friend!
Hey Drew! So sorry to hear about your Grandpa❤ Justin did a good job on the doggie door! Oh my gosh, Winston is adorable, he's growing so fast, as they do. I agree, puppies are a lot of work, but of course are so worth it! I've had a lot of them over the years, they are almost like having a baby lol. I can see how thrilled you are to have your pup! They are so sweet and fun. Enjoy him! It will be good for him to go where you go too, good socialization! Have fun!❤
My sister uses the Porch Potty system for her two Poms and loves it. We have those exact same puppy/baby gates and they are insanely durable. We have had the same one for about 12 years and it looks and works like new.
This is so funny!! most of the time Justin is very serious on your videos! helping but serious! and WHAT A SMILE!! with little Winstion in his arms! I can see JOY!
I also recommend a smart pet tag! Pet smart has smart tags that pair to your phone much like an air tag, when we go on walks I like to have it on her as a last defense, it eases my anxiety. 😁 you do have to replace the battery about every 6 months, but no subscriptions or anything, it’s about 50$, totally worth it in my opinion ❤️ I love Winnie so much already!
Well congratulations new Dad and Uncle Justin, once again thank you Justin for all your help in Drew's time of need ,my condolences about Grandpa, good luck on your new endeavors with Winston, puppies are a handful ❤thanks for sharing 😊
Restaurant supply stores, such as Smart & Final, etc. sell plastic bins, usually gray, that are used for bussing (clearing). tables. They're very inexpensive, & just the right size for placing a pet potty pad. Some dogs can be trained to use the bins. The bussing bins are also great for bathing small pets while safely on the ground , less frightening then a tub or sink since it brings you down to their level, with more control.
Winston is absolutely adorable!! Sooo chunky and cuuuutteeee 🥰 thank you for sharing your puppy proofing tips and ideas!! Love that crate! Beautiful and functional!!
Winston is so cute, and thanks for making the doggie door look easy. We've talked about doing one of those for a long time but haven't gotten it done. We're slaves to a border collie blend, and she's amazing and would probably love a door of her own but right now she has us!
WINSTON is too cute! He's a very lucky baby! I can relate to this bcoz I'm also DIYing my pets' houses and it doesn't stop as they grow. I'm so excited for him!
Winston is adorable! Your set up for him is so well thought out. One thing our professional puppy 🐶 trainer taught us was to give the baby something other than your hands to chew on; any suitable puppy toy. They also warned against toys with squeakers. We learned that the hard way when we found her with the chewed up toy and the squeaker in her mouth. Scary. 😮
This is so helpful for those of us planning on getting a dog. Love your smart doggie door and pottie setup. 🏆 Please do a follow up on how you maintain/clean the system.
Wow Winston, what a cutie! I’d love to give him a squeeze. I have an 11 year old Lab. When he was young I’d schedule puppy play dates with friends and also scheduled daily walks (after breakfast/dinner) for some routine. Dogs thrive with a little routine, it helps calm them down when they know when play, food and rest are coming. They really are like little babies!! Best of luck Drew!
I love this so much! I just brought home a baby Basset Hound (Betty Lou 🥰) and even though I’ve had dogs of my own before, I’m always here for the puppy content and recommendations. ♥️ Enjoy Winston! They grow way too fast.
My puppy is 5 months old. First 2 months was really hard. But getting better. I found that keeping him in a confined space is best. As soon as you let you guard down accidents all over! I have baby gates everywhere!
Yes Drew!! More Puppy Content!! Thanks for showing that there is always a way to make space for fluffy friends in human homes. I love the way Winston waves hello and then says goodbye.
Justin needs to do more videos. He has a very calming voice.
And Winston is adorable 😍
Perfect for asmr. I would love an asmr interior design channel.
Somewhat hypnotic. Could hear him doing guided meditations. 'You're walking on a sandy beach, warm sunshine....' 😊
And he’s very easy to look at.
Uncle Justin and auntie Marie will make excellent surrogate parents for Winston. ❤️❤️❤️
Love the sound of Justin's voice - deep and kind!
So loving he shares in the joys and chores of Winston ! ❤glenda
